Beauty: Stila Glitter Underground Collection

Posted on February 14, 2017

Hi Guys!

When it comes to glitter makeup, you must admit that historically it hasn’t really been known for its quality. From the spray on hair and body glitter of the 90’s (I’ve been there and I have no regrets) to glitter nail polish and sparkly lip glosses, it all has a child-like quality that’s cute and fun, but not necessarily known for being the highest standard of cosmetics.

This is where Stila comes in with their new Glitter Underground collection for SS17, which is inspired by the fabulous glitzy glamour of the ’70’s disco era. This collection is full of rich warm tones, with high quality metallic and glitter infused finishes. These products are all about grown up glamour, in warm shades of golds, coppers, browns and purples.

Starting with the Matte N Metal Eye Shadow Palette (£39.00) – this is a twelve colour eye palette with a mixture of matte and metallic shadows. Very similar to Stila’s popular Eyes Are The Windows Palette in Soul, this palette isn’t what I’d call groundbreaking in terms of the shade selection, but though I say this the shades are very lovely, as well as being highly pigmented and easy enough to wear in terms of colour on a daily basis. If you’re in need of a new go-to palette this one is definitely worth checking out. The shades are as follows –

  • Vintage – A matte, neutral pink.
  • Velvet – Matte pale pink.
  • Feathered – Matte pale sand.
  • Fringe – Matte light taupe shade.
  • Suede – Matte mauve pink.
  • Velour – Matte warm tan.
  • Bohemian – A metallic pewter.
  • Retro – Rose gold metallic.
  • Sequin – Metallic gold.
  • Smolder – Smoky metallic gunmetal.
  • Sizzle – Metallic rosy copper.
  • Flare – Cool bronze metallic.

The Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow (£23.00) is definitely my favourite product from the collection. This is a high-shine metallic, liquid formula eyeshadow that’s infused with SO much glitter. The formula is super light and applies effortlessly to the lids, leaving a stunning shimmery finish that catches the light beautifully. It’s worth noting that this product also gives pretty much zero fallout – which is always an issue when working with glitters. This is available is eight beautiful shades –

  • Rose Gold Retro – A shimmering rose gold and silver.
  • Kitten Karma – A copper toned champagne with flecks of silver.
  • Smouldering Satin – Deep tan with silver.
  • Diamond Dust – Sheer silver & multicolour.
  • Gold Goddess – Antique gold & silver.
  • Smoky Storm – Pewter & silver.
  • Molten Midnight – Black, silver & gold.
  • Bronzed Bell – Deep bronze with silver.

Stila have also introduced five new shades of their Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick (£16.00) into this collection. In case you’re not familiar with these, the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick is a fantastic long lasting matte liquid lipstick that’s designed to last for up to six hours of wear.

I have shade Perla from the new collection, and I’m absolutely in love with it! Perla is described as a soft rosy nude, and it’s just the prettiest muted nude pink shade that’s really easy to wear for fair to medium skin tones. The formula offers amazing pigmentation whilst feeling lightweight and comfortable – and this is the type of liquid lipstick that won’t budge once it’s on. The new shades available are –

  • Angelo – A soft peachy nude.
  • Biscotti – Taupe Brown.
  • Notte – Blackberry.
  • Perla – Soft rosy nude.
  • Rubino – Deep red.

Stilla also have a range of three Heavens Hue Highlighters (£28.00) – these are ultra-fine highlighters designed to give skin a natural glow. I have shade Bronze which though lovely, is way too dark for my complexion. If you have a darker skin tone though I think this could look stunning. These come in three shades –

  • Transcendence – Opalescent pink.
  • Kitten – Shimmering nude pink.
  • Bronze – Radiant sun-kissed shimmer.

And lastly, there’s the Glitterati Lip Top Coat (£18.00) – this is a shimmering top coat for application over matte lipsticks. I don’t have a sample of this but I did try one at the event and they look absolutely mesmerising! I know this sounds a bit OTT but this top coat has a really thin watery consistency, which you can see swishing around in the tube and it just looks amazing (sorry I’m easily excited by glittery things) – these basically add a glitter top coat to your matte lipsticks, without a having glossy finish.

  • Transcend – Transparent pink with multi-coloured sparkle.
  • Ignite – Transparent berry sparkle.

I’ve already shared swatches on my Instagram Stories, but if you missed this and would like to see swatches of anything above please do let me know and I’ll be more than happy to share.

Stila’s Glitter Underground Collection is available now at StilaBeauty Bay and ASOS.

Hi Guys!

As a complete beauty fanatic – with a special place in my heart for makeup in particular, there’s nothing like discovering and trying out new beauty brands – whether they’re actually new on the market, or just new to me.

So I was very excited indeed, when Beauty Bay sent over an amazing box including some of their top selling products for me to try out and share with you – I couldn’t wait to get stuck in!

spectrum-a01-large-domed-powder-brush-review

Starting with the Spectrum A01 Large Domed Powder Brush (£9.00) – Spectrum really do make the prettiest, most colourful brushes – and they’ve been on my wish list for a while so I was really pleased to find one in my box. The Large Domed Powder Brush is a generously sized brush, perfect for buffing powder-based products into the skin. It has a fun baby pink handle and purple and blue bristles – this is definitely a brush that stands out from the crowd! I’ve been using it with the Artdeco Fixing Powder (coming up next) and it does a fab job of applying the powder and buffing it in to the skin.

beautybay-haul-review

The Artdeco Fixing Powder Box (£11.75) – is basically a translucent setting powder. It was originally designed to set and waterproof the Artdeco Camouflage Cream but it’s also great as an all round setting powder for any skin type. The powder is super finely milled, and though it looks white, it applies translucent whilst giving makeup a waterproof finish to ‘lock in’ your look.

I was also pleased to find a couple of pen style eyeliners in the box – the Eye of Horus Liquid Define Liner (£15.00) was the first I tried – it has a firm, long pointed nib, that’s great for creating sharp, thick lines, and it gives highly pigmented colour that boasts longevity and refuses to smudge. And the LA Splash Art-Ki-Tekt Waterproof Slim Eyeliner Pen (£11.25) is basically the opposite of the EOH liner – this one has a small, fine, flexible tip, that’s perfect for creating slim, feline flicks with precision. It’s also waterproof, budge proof and lasts all day.

nailberry-nail-polish-review

There were also a couple of Nailberry L’Oxygene Oxygenated Nail Lacquers (£14.50) in the box – these polishes are ‘free from five’, vegan friendly and cruelty free, and come in generous sized 15ml bottles. Shade Elegance (shown above) is a sheer baby pink shade, perfect for a tint of colour and to give the nails shine. And I also have shade Simplicity which I love! This is a light nude beige – perfect for fairer skin tones like mine, and only takes a couple of coats for full opacity.

ga-de-basica-matte-eyeshadow-palette

Next I have the Ga-De Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette (£19.00) – now this is a brand that I haven’t tried or let alone even heard of before! The GA-DE Basics Matte Eyeshadow Palette is a limited edition product containing a collection of sophisticated matte eye shadows – and I have to say I absolutely love it!

This palette contains a selection of eight neutral matte shades, which are all easy to wear and perfect for daily use. The compact is basic but sturdy and has a mirror in the lid, and the shadows are just so amazingly soft and fantastically well pigmented – this is going straight in my makeup bag and will definitely give my Urban Decay Naked Basics a run for its money!

ga-de-true-color-satin-lipstick-review

I also have the Ga-De True Color Satin Lipstick (£11.00) – another lovely product from Ga-De, this True Color Satin Lipstick in shade 232 Plum Noir is a lovely deep plum colour that’s perfect for autumn. The formula feels creamy and moisturising, and leaves a highly pigmented satin finish that is long wearing and feels lightweight and non-drying on the lips.

Next I have the Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara (£16.50) – which is said to be perfect for fine, brittle lashes (this is basically my eyelashes) – so I had high hopes for this product!

The Goddess Mascara has been formulated with Natural Waxes and Oils, Antioxidants, Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamins to protect and nourish lashes whilst lengthening and volumising. It has a silicon brush with short, dense bristles that work really well on my short lashes. The finish isn’t  an out there ‘false lashes’ look as such, but it nice, non-clumpy and natural enough for every day wear.

stila-stay-all-day-matteificent-lipstick-review

I was also really excited to try the Stila Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick (£15.00) – again, Stila is another brand that I haven’t used for a very long time – I think their Eyes are the Windows palette was the last item I used actually. The Stay All Day Matte’Ificent Lipstick is a lightweight, long wearing matte finish lipstick, utilising a Flexible Film Long-Wear Complex which delivers a soft, gel like film that hydrates and protects the lips whilst ensuring maximum adhesion of colour.

Shade Coquille is beautiful muted, dusky pink, which I completely love. The formula feels comfortable and creamy to wear, and even though the finish is matte, it’s not drying on the lips, and lasts for hours on end.

la-splash-lipstick-review

And lastly the LA Splash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Lipstick (£9.95) – I LOVE LA Splash Matte Lipsticks, and this one in shade Ghoulish is the perfect partner for my Stila lipstick – the shades are almost identical!

If you’re looking for a matte liquid lipstick that literally lasts all day, then look no further. LA Splash’s Lip Couture lipsticks offer amazing pigmentation, with a super lightweight formula that feels velvety matte and smooth once it’s dried – and it won’t budge at all throughout the day.

beautybay-products-post

So there we have it! You can probably guess that my favourite item from the box was the Ga-De Matte Palette! Though it’s not much to look at – and I mean that in the nicest way possible – there are no frills, no shiny sparkly designs or packaging with this palette – but it doesn’t matter, this is a fantastic every day matte palette that’s very likely to become my go-to from now on.

And as far as Beauty Bay goes as a whole, I love that offer such a fantastic range of brands – many of which you can’t find anywhere else in the UK. I don’t expect I’d have ever come across the likes of Ga-De especially if it wasn’t for this box. They also stock brands such as Makeup Geek, Coloured Raine, Jeffree Star, Violet Voss and Dose of Colours to name but a few.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

January Beauty Favourites

january-2015-beauty-favourites

Hi Guys!

I’ve only just released I haven’t written a monthly favourites post since last September – oops! Anyway I’m back on the wagon now, and there have just been so may amazing products I’ve been using lately, it’s been hard to cut it down! I’ve managed to get my list down to a reasonable length now, so here are the products I’ve been loving in January –

MAC Lip Pencil in Soar. Ok so I’m a bit late to the bandwagon with the whole Kylie Jenner nude lip thing, but I am a big fan of a nude lip so thought I’d snap this up when I saw it finally available on MAC’s site, and I have to say I love it! The colour is the perfect my lips but better shade and I have to say I’m keen to grab Whirl when that comes back in stock now too.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita. I bought this last year when the Audacious lippies were first released, and it’s the perfect partner to my Soar lip pencil. Giving beautiful creamy colour with full opacity, this has been my go to lip product since the beginning of the year.

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Loose Powder. This is a product that I actually use all the time, but kind of automatically without realising if that makes sense! Mineral Veil is a fantastic setting powder without being heavy or cakey, it sets my foundation giving a demi-matte finish with a super lightweight feel.

Elie Saab Resort Collection Fragrance. This fragrance is simply beautiful and I haven’t been able to put it down since it arrived. Resort Collection instantly whisks you away on a luxurious holiday, with sunshine, cocktails, sailing boats (you know the type where people lounge around drinking champers) and summer nights. It’s the perfect fragrance to brighten your mood in this dreary weather and I really can’t recommend it enough.

Bourjois Mega Eyeliner Pen. This is without a doubt one of the best pen style eyeliners I’ve ever used. The Mega Eyeliner has a slanted nib – just like a calligraphy pen – which makes it super easy to draw fine or thicker lines. The product itself is also the deepest most opaque black, and it lasts all day. I would recommend this to any eyeliner fan.

Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Cell Oil. I must admit I’ve only recently started trying the Fleuressence Cell Oil, but I have to say I’m completely in love already. This miracle oil encompasses 100% pure active botanicals, fruit extracts and natural oil to deliver powerful vitamins and nutrients deep into the skin, resulting in replenished hydration, improved skin colour and tone and it boosts radiance. I’ve only used this a few times but my skin already feels brighter, plumper and amazingly nourished. Full review to follow!

Stila In The Light Palette. I’m pretty sure this has been in one of my previous favourites posts. This palette is just so beautiful and versatile, I’ve found myself constantly going back to it. The shades are all so easy to wear, plus they have amazing colour payoff and stay put all day.

Milani Baked Blusher in Luminoso. I’ve only just discovered Milani products, and I’m so glad I did. Their baked eyeshadow in Luminoso is such a beautiful peachy coral shade that gives a lovely sheen to the skin and brightens the complexion. It’s the perfect spring shade!

Nuxe Reve De Miel. This lip balm has instantly jumped to the top of my favourites list. It works amazingly well to soften and moisturise even the driest lips, i.e mine, and it’s lived in my handbag ever since it arrived. This is a must have if you suffer from super dry lips like I do. (FYI I googles it and Reve De Miel means ‘Honey Dream’)

Well there we have it for January’s favourites, I’m going to try my best not to forget to do February’s! I hope you enjoyed my post, and I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? xxx

Stila In The Light Palette | Review

Posted on October 23, 2014

stila-in-the-light-palette

Hi Guys!

Ok so did I really need another palette?

Need is rather a strong word I think. I know I just bought a shedload (I said shed) of Anastasia palettes but I just couldn’t resist this when I saw it in a blog sale. I’ve seen the Stila In The Light palette a few times now on other blogs and I always mentally added it to my wish list – the colours just look so gorgeous! And with a mid range price tag of £25 it wasn’t quite cheap enough to ‘just buy’ on a whim, and I’d never really actually needed it so I never bought it. But then when I saw someone selling it ‘lightly used’ for £18 including postage, well I jumped at the chance and bought it straight away. I do like a bargain I do!

The In The Light palette is so pretty and so wearable. You’ve got ten neutral shades in there to play with, as well as an eyeliner, in a handy slimline palette.

There are a good mix of matte and shimmer shades included, with four mattes and six shimmers. I haven’t really got a bad word to say about these shades, the only one that didn’t stand up to the rest though is Bliss from the top row, this shade didn’t come out too well and seemed to be lacking in pigmentation compared to the rest. Matte shades such as Bliss are notoriously more powdery and less pigmented than shimmers, no matter what the brand. That said though, just look at the black! Ebony is a super rich, deep black, and it’s a matte, I’ve got no complaints there! The shimmers really are fantastic too, they’re super buttery soft and I had no problems with application or blending.

This is my first experience of Stila products and I’m really impressed, overall the shadows are really good quality with little to no fallout. I’ve also heard the Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eyeshadows are pretty good, so I might look at these next 🙂

I’d love to hear if you’d recommend any Stila products for me to try?

I hope you enjoyed my review xxx

September Beauty Favourites

Posted on October 10, 2014

september-favourites

Hi Guys!

I’m hoping it’s not too late for my September favourites post, am I? I don’t know how but it totally slipped my mind. I’d been making a note of my favourite products all throughout September too, so I’ve got a good list ready for you! – Here goes…

Yankee candle – Pink Sands. This is pretty, summery fragrance, described as a beautiful mix of bright citrus, sweet florals and spicy vanilla. Pink Sands has been a favourite candle of mine over the summer months, and on one hand I’m sad that it’s almost ran out, but on the other hand I’m looking forward to bringing some more seasonal scents into my home – I’ve been recommended Witches Brew, Harvest and Cranberry Ice, so I’ll definitely check these out next time I’m at the shops 🙂

Super Facialist Cleanser – This mild cleanser has been my go-to ever since its arrival. It’s glycerin based to help retain moisture and includes elderflower to minimise pores, and also contains salicylic acid to refine and detoxify whilst washing away impurities. This cleanser leaves my skin with a lovely matte finish and a light, refreshing scent of orange and yang yang.

Nanshy Blending Brush – Nanshy kindly sent me this blending brush a few weeks ago as a sample to try out – and I have to say it’s fantastic! It’s lived in my makeup bag ever since and I’ve been using it on a daily basis. The blending brush is part of the new Masterful Collection which you can read about here.

Mitoq Power Antioxidant Rejuvination Serum – This is an old favourite of mine, I loved this product so much when I first tried it out, but then with just being busy and trying out other products it kind of got pushed to the back of my stash. I recently started using it again and was reminded of why I originally raved about it. It’s been completely reviving my tired skin, making it look brighter and more even – take a look at the full review 🙂

Ashley Cahill Skincare Samples – I was sent a couple of samples to try from luxury skincare brand Ashley Cahill. I especially liked the Microdermabrasion Cleanser, which is a powerful exfoliator that uses medical grade aluminium oxide crystals to scour away dead skin and wash away dirt. It left my skin feeling amazingly soft. The other product was Tight, yes it’s just called ‘Tight’! This serum has been dubbed ‘plastic surgery in a bottle’. Tight promises to lift, tighten and rehydrate the skin in just a few minutes, claiming to be a natural alternative to cosmetic surgery. And my God did my skin feel tight! I’m not even joking!! I was so surprised it actually felt and looked tighter! Amazing!

Opi Nail Polish in Don’t Mess With Opi – This is a gorgeous mid green, it’s more of an autumnal colour but I’ve been wearing it loads in September. I’m a massive fan of green and blue nail polishes and this is definitely one of the best greens I own. It has a super shiny finish and only takes two coats for full opacity.

Anatomicals Headache Relieving Balm – After trying this for the first time recently, this has been a new handbag staple. It has a menthol scent which isn’t too overwhelming, and you just rub the balm on your pulse points and await headache relief, simples!

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita – These are THE lipsticks of the moment. The new NARS Audacious collection is simply stunning, the colours as well as formula are to die for and with the massive range of 30 different shades, there really is something for everybody. You can read my review here.

W7 Chunky Eyes Pencil in Latte – The new W7 Chunky Eyes pencils all have gorgeous, easy to wear shimmer finishes, and the four pencils come in lovely brown shades ranging from cream to dark brown. The pencils give a beautiful shimmery finish, with a fantastic level of pigmentation.

Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette – I bought this recently in a blog sale – I’ve been eyeing it up for a while but kept telling myself I didnt need it as I had too many palettes. When I saw it on sale for £18 inc postage, well it would have been sill ynot to for for it! And I absolutely love this palette. All the shades are neutral and easy to wear, and the shadows are so buttery soft and blendable. It’s still a great bargain for the full price at £25. I’ll have a full review on this shortly.

Sorry it’s been a bit of a long one! I hope you enjoyed my post anyway! xxx
