marc-jacobs-daisy-eau-so-fresh-blush-review

Starting with Marc Jacobs’ Daisy Eau So Fresh Blush Edition – described as carefree and vibrant, Daisy Eau So Fresh Blush is warm and radiant with a blend of fruity florals, notes of pink grapefruit, and a floral heart of freesia and rose. Limited-Edition-Jimmy-Choo-Exotic-review

Next, the gorgeous Limited Edition Jimmy Choo Exotic – this fragrance is sparkling, sexy and irresistible – and probably my favourite out of all the scents in this post. Exotic is a new interpretation of the classic Jimmy Choo fragrance, with refreshing notes of blackcurrant sorbet and pink grapefruit bringing sparkle to the sensuality of tiger orchid and passion flower – the heart of the original scent. The base of patchouli and velvety raspberry complete this fruity, chypre fragrance.

  • Top Notes: blackcurrant sorbet, pink grapefruit
  • Heart Notes: Tiger orchid and passion flower.
  • Base Notes: Patchouli and raspberry.

Jimmy Choo Exotic is £44.00 for EDT 60ml, but currently on offer for £33.00 at Boots.

Paul-Smith-Sunshine-for-Women-Limited-Edition-review

Paul Smith Sunshine for Women Limited Edition – Now I must admit, Paul Smith isn’t a brand I’d usually gravitate towards when it comes to fragrance, but their latest limited edition is a summer must have! Sunshine for Women is a wonderfully light and fruity yet refreshing scent. Pink grapefruit and peach at the top make the scent juicy and sweet, with a feminine floral heart and warm sandalwood and musk at the base.

  • Top Notes: Pink Grapefruit, Bergamot and Peach.
  • Heart Notes: Bulgarian rose, Jasmine and White Peony.
  • Base Notes: Sandalwood and Musk.

Paul Smith Sunshine for Women is £31.00 for 100ml EDT at Paul Smith.

Issey-Miyake-LEau-dIssey-Summer-Limited-Editions-review

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Summer Limited Edition – in collaboration with artist Michelle McKinney, limited edition L’eau d’Issey Summer is a gorgeous light fruity-floral summer scent, with fruity notes of lychee, grapefruit and exotic guava and passionfruit at the heart, brought together with a feminine base of vanilla and woods.

  • Top Notes: Lychee and Grapefruit.
  • Heart Notes: Pitahaya, Guava and Passionfruit.
  • Base Notes: Vanilla and Wood.

Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey Summer is £41.00 for 100ml EDT at Selfridges.

Hollister-WAVE-for-Her-review

Hollister WAVE for Her – another brand which I wouldn’t necessarily pick up and try if I saw it on the shelf, Hollister Wave for Her definitely shouldn’t be overlooked. Inspired by a California sunset, this fragrance is made for a girl with youthful spontaneity and personality. The fragrance opens with juicy citruses notes, making way for wild orchid, sunset hibiscus and California Poppy at the heart. Warm, enveloping woods and amber create the perfect balance in the base evoking the warmth of a summers evening.

  • Top notes: Carambola (star fruit), Cassis and Quince.
  • Heart notes: Orchid, Hibiscus and Poppy.
  • Base notes: Solar Notes, Sandalwood and Crystal Amber.

Hollister Wave for her is from £19.00 for 30ml, and it’s available at Boots.

ck-one-summer-review

CK One Summer – this is a wonderfully wet and refreshing unisex scent. Opening with fresh and fruity top notes of lime mojito and green apple, leading on to juicy guava and lush vibrant greens at the heart, dripping with exotic freshness. The scent is rounded off with cool cedarwood and tree moss at the base.

  • Top Notes: Green Apple, Lime Mojito, and Green Ginger.
  • Heart Notes: Guava, Tiare Tahiti, and Juniper.
  • Base Notes: Coconut Milk, Cedarwood, and Tree Moss.

CK One Summer EDT is £33.00 for 100ml at Escentual.

michael-kors-coral-review

And lastly, Michael Kors Coral – described as fresh, feminine, and fabulous, Michael Kors Coral is a bright and bold scent evoking the chic, carefree mood of faraway destinations. The fragrance opens with top notes of pink grapefruit, lemon and juicy mandarin, with pink pepper and blackcurrant mingling with tuberose and orange blossom for a sweet and feminine heart. The base contains a blend of cedar, musk, ambrox and warm sandalwood for a sumptuous and velvety finish.

  • Top Notes: Pink grapefruit, lemon, mandarin, pink pepper and black currant.
  • Heart Notes: Tuberose, jasmine tea, orange blossom and sweet raspberries.
  • Base Notes: Sandalwood, cedar, musk and ambrox.

Michael Kors Coral is from £39.00 for 30ml at Boots.

Sweat Proofing Your Summer Make-Up With Dior Beauty

Posted on July 24, 2016

dior-summer-skin-post

Hi Guys!

I don’t know about you but I’ve been literally melting this past week. Beauty lovers will be well aware of the daily struggle to prevent makeup sliding down your face, smudging around, going patchy, and just generally not staying put in the recent heatwave.

So today, I have some fantastic tips to share with you from Jamie Coombes, National Make-up Artist for Dior. Read on for his 10 pro-secrets to ‘sweat proofing’ your summer make-up, and how to prevent make-up from melting in hot weather…

1. Go light: Heavy, oil-based cosmetics do not wear well in hot weather. Light, sheer and waterproof make-up will hold much better.

2. Prepare ahead: Make-up moves around when it’s hot, so the best way to avoid that is to wear less of it. Use a tinted moisturiser and a concealer where you need it such as Dior Fix It Concealer (£23.50). This can be used as a skin perfector in your make-up routine or for touch-ups, concealing facial blemishes, helping to erase under eye circles and dark areas.

3. Invest in a primer to hold your make-up in place. Primers are made for humid weather because they extend the life of the foundation you apply over the top, keeping it looking fresh all day long. Diorskin Forever and Ever Wear (£29.00) primer is a fluid, non-oily texture and perfect for hot weather. Its intelligent ingredients specifically target the skin’s needs: in dehydrated areas, they trap water in the epidermis to maintain hydration; in oily areas, they capture sebum to eliminate shine.

4. Stick to stains: these are great for longevity in hot weather as they will avoid make-up sliding when the sun comes out. Use a gel lip or blush stain. Dior Backstage Cheek and Lip Glow (£27.00) is great as this enhances the wearers natural glow for an all-day glow of colour.

5. Avoid the shine: Use a powder such as Diorskin Forever and Ever Control Loose Powder (£34.00) to hold make-up in place and matify oil prone areas throughout the day.

6. Avoid melting eyeliner: Opt for a waterproof gel-like formula such as Diorshow Pro-Liner (£20.00). Once it is set after application, the resilient formula stays true with no movement.

7. Shimmer for the right reasons: When it comes to a cream blush, approach with caution. You should look for ones that have a dry finish on the skin. Avoid ones with shimmer because this will make you look oilier in the heat. Powder blushes can also look dull and streaky in hot weather. For longwearing climate resistant blushers try Diorskin Rosy Glow (£31.50) or Dior Cheek & Lip Glow (£27.00).

8. Let the skin breathe with a bronzer: Wear a bronzer in the months when the weather is warmest. A bronzer is a good choice for hot-weather make-up, because you will not have to wear as much other types of make-up to add colour to your face. Diorskin Nude Air Tan (£35.00) bronzing powders warm the original skin tone and let the skin breathe for the continual radiant beauty of a sun-kissed healthy glow.

9. Get a grip: Dior’s new Dreamskin Perfect Skin Cushion SPF 50 (Available 17th August at £62.00) has a lightweight serum texture which easily absorbs into the skin without leaving residue. It reduces complexion imperfections, so you don’t have to use a lot of foundation. It also helps the pigments in foundation or tinted moisturiser grip to the skin.

Edouard Mauvais-Jarvis, Scientific Director, Parfums Christian Dior, says: “Dreamskin Cushion is an ideal over make-up touch up solution. By tapping the applicator on the face, it will absorb the excess sebum, bring freshness, even the complexion and revive radiance, all of this without worrying about the result because the colour blends with the complexion, leaving no marks. The plus is that it also gives a boost of sun protection with the SPF 50 and the broad spectrum UVA protection. It’s easier to apply than make-up with all the benefits of skincare.”

I’ve just started using this and so far I absolutely love it – I’ll have a full review coming up soon!

10. For the more oil prone complexions: Jamie recommends Diorskin Forever Foundation (£33.00). At the heart of the new Diorskin Forever fluid foundation formula, the Activ-MatTM complex combines two types of innovative powders: one with mattifying properties that absorb excess sebum and another which refracts light in shadow areas created by skin texture irregularities. Shine is erased, light is softly diffused. The complexion is matte, vibrant and non-cakey. With SPF35 and up to 16-hour wear it’s perfect for the warmer temperatures.

I hope you enjoyed my post – I’d love to hear if you have any tips and tricks for helping your makeup stay put during the heatwave? xxx

Marc Jacobs Splash Fragrance Collection

Posted on May 30, 2016

marc-jacobs-splash-collection-review

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a wonderful bank holiday? I haven’t been up to much as yet, but we’re off to Legoland tomorrow for Fred’s birthday, and I’m so excited! It’s a surprise and he has no idea about it. I can’t wait to see his little face when we arrive! 🙂

So today I have the gorgeous Marc Jacobs Splash collection of fragrances to share with you. The 2016 Splash collection contains four previously released fragrances which due to popular demand, have been re-designed and re-released as limited editions this year. The collection includes four gender-free fragrances – Rain and Cotton from 2006, Cucumber from 2007 and Pear from 2008, which come presented in simple chic square glass bottles, and as a collection, perfectly captures the essence of summer.

Inspired by the original Marc Jacobs’ Splash Collection, the four favorites recapture the essence of summer. Crisp to the senses, yet mellow in color, each Splash indulges in the simple pleasures of the easy-going, light hearted spirit of Marc Jacobs.

Starting with Pear Splash this is a deliciously fresh and juicy pear scent, but not as sweet as you might expect. This is very much a gender-free fragrance, though it definitely captures the essence of summer, the inclusion of teak and musk prevents it from being too sweet and feminine.

  • Top notes: Pear, Lemon and Bergamot.
  • Heart notes: Juniper, Gin and Freesia.
  • Base notes: Teak, Amber and Musk.

Next we have Rain Splash – this is probably my favourite out of the collection. Rain Splash is a beautifully clean, fresh and revitalising scent, conveying the smell of fresh rain, grass and flowers on a bright summers day. Again this is neither masculine nor feminine, but suitable for everyone and anyone that loves a clean and fresh scent.

  • Top notes: Wet Cut Grass, Wild Strawberry, Clementine, and Cypress.
  • Heart notes: Tropical Rain, Passion Flower, Sunflower and White Orchid.
  • Base notes: Amber, Moss, Teak and Musk.

And Cotton Splash – described as the scent of freshness and purity, this fragrance is reminiscent of freshly washed and sun-dried cotton laundry. It’s a clean yet comforting scent capturing the ease and simplicity of summer in a bottle.

  • Top notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Orange, Peach and Aquatic Accord.
  • Heart notes: Lavender, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley and Cotton Flower.
  • Base notes: White Suede, Blonde Woods, Musk and Sandalwood.

And lastly, Cucumber Splash – this is a wonderfully light and refreshing scent of freesia and cucumber. This is definitely another favourite of mine, this fragrance perfectly captures the juicy, watery essence of cucumber, giving a beautifully clean, crisp and fresh scent.

  • Top notes: Cucumber, Lotus Leaf, Bamboo and Cactus Flower.
  • Heart notes: Lily of the Valley, Linden Blossom, Freesia and Blue Tiger Lily.
  • Base notes: Frosted Musk and Blonde Woods.

Summer Brights Wish List!

Posted on July 24, 2015

summer brights wish list

Hi Guys!

At the moment, I just can’t get enough of anything that’s bright, cute and kitsch. If it falls under the category of neon or novelty, I WANT IT. I need it in my life! I really feel like I’m clinging onto the summer with all my might – the weather is still hot and muggy, but unfortunately the sun seems to have ‘done one’ of late. And though I’ve been trying to be good when it comes to spending, I have actually been buying a few things recently… some beauty bits from some blog sales (all will be revealed soon) and some awesome new stationery from the US, which definitely falls under the cute and kitsch category! Hopefully my delivery will arrive soon so I can show you what I bought (and they’re all completely necessary, important things of course)

Is it just me or does anyone else spend a lot of time, and I mean A LOT, window shopping online, filling your virtual baskets with hundreds and sometimes thousands of pounds of gorgeous goodies, just to take things out of said bag one by one to try to make it affordable? Then realising you shouldn’t really be buying anything anyway, and you should really be doing the washing up / hoovering / dusting / insert relevant chore, rather than browsing thing you can’t afford?

Yeah I spend a lot of time doing that, hence my latest wish list! I’ve included some fantastic bargains, as well as a couple of more expensive items – well it is a ‘wish list’ after all! I hope you like!

  • Kitty High Top Sneakers from ShopJeen
  • Rib Cage Cuff 70mm from Cooee
  • Chiara Ferragni Glitter Pop ‘n Dog Slip-On Sneaker from Nasty Gal
  • Skinnydip Pineapple Juice Across Body Bag from ASOS
  • Cropped Stretch Cotton Trousers from Esprit
  • Geo Transparent Strap Watch from ASOS
  • Blue Tropical Print Ruch Side Mini Skirt from New Look
  • IRO Ashville Jacket in Coral from Trilogy Stores
  • Only Child Kaleido Crystal Ring from ASOS
  • Far Out Tie Dye Halter Top from ShopJeen

If you can recommend any other stores for similar goodies that I might like, please do leave me a comment and let me know!

My Top Summer Nail Polishes!

Posted on August 1, 2014

top-summer-nail-polishes

Hi Guys!

I seem to be constantly painting my nails this summer, maybe it’s because I’m out and about and doing more, therefore they’re chipping quicker? I don’t know. Maybe it’s just because I’m so indecisive! I’ve been changing my polish a couple of times a week for at least the last few weeks (whereas before I just used to remove it and not bother painting my nails again for a while) and I’ve noticed that out of my massive polish collection, I’ve been going for certain types of colours depending on my mood. I’ve narrowed my most used polishes down to three groups – Neons, Brights and Pastels. So here are my favourite polishes this summer…

best-neon-nail-polishes

Top row –The Neons

  • Models Own Polish For Tans – Shades
  • Models Own – Orange Sorbet
  • P.S (Primark) Neon Pink
  • Models Own Polish For Tans – Sun Hat

As soon as the Models Own Polish For Tans collection arrived I knew I had to have them. But I didn’t buy any for some reason, I think I may have been on a spending ban? Anyway I was lusting after them for a while then I managed to grab a couple of the polishes from ASOS when they had a 20% off site-wide offer on – result! I already had Orange Sorbet, another neon that was released pre Tans collection and I also can’t stop reaching for my Primark polishes too! This un-named polish in neon pink it just the perfect cool-toned neon pink shade. The formula isn’t amazing but it was only £1 so I’m not complaining!

best-bright-nail-polishes

Middle Row – The Brights

  1. Model’s Own – Pukka Purple
  2. Model’s Own Hyper Gel – Blue Glint
  3. Beauty UK – Pretty in Pink
  4. Beauty UK – Daffodil Delight
  5. P.S (Primark) Bright Magenta

If I’m not in the mood for a neon shade I’ll often take one step down the brightness scale and head towards the bright shades in my collection. I have another gorgeous Primark polish in here in an amazing bright Magenta colour, and I’m also a big fan of the Models Own Hyper Gels, especially Blue Glint, it’s such a gorgeous intense blue shade! I have a couple of Beauty UK polishes in here too, I’m especially fond ofDaffodil Delight, it’s such a great colour to put you in a good mood!

best-pastel-nail-polishes

Bottom Row – The Pastels

  1. Essie – Not Just a Pretty Face
  2. Tanya Burr – Penguin Chic
  3. Barry M – Baby Pink
  4. Sleek Loves Gel Nails – Smokin’ Violet
  5. Essie – We’re In It Together

And lastly the pastels, these are just so easy to wear, you don’t have to worry so much if the colour is going to clash with your outfit or skin tone. I also love to wear a muted coloured pastel, such as Tanya Burr’s Penguin Chic with a bright summery outfit. 🙂

So that’s about if for my favourite Summer nail polishes! I’d love to hear which polishes you’ve been reaching for? xxx
