Christmas: The Net-A-Porter Ultimate Beauty Kit

Posted on November 18, 2016

net-a-porter-ultimate-beauty-kit

Hi Guys!

I just happened to be browsing the Net-A-Porter site today and noticed this rather amazing set on sale. It’s not an advent calendar as such, in fact it’s much better as it contains 32 products rather than 24 or even 12.

The Ultimate Beauty Kit is described as an expertly curated set including 32 cult-favorite products covering makeup, skincare and hair, from top brands such as Hourglass, Charlotte Tilbury, Burberry Beauty, Sunday Riley and many more.

The kit contains 16 travel size and 16 full size products – now I don’t know about you but I think that’s pretty amazing really. When you look at the price of other luxury advent calendars, and consider that the majority of the products included are travel size, they make this looks like an amazing deal. I’m currently waiting on confirmation of which products are full size, and the size of the travel sized ones too, so as soon as I find out I’ll update the info below.

Here’s a list of everything that’s included – I’ve also added links to the individual products in case you want to look at them in more detail:

Ok so I’ve now got all the prices and details of which are the full sized products, and I’ve worked out that you’ve got about £574.98 worth of beauty goodness here. I mean how amazing is that!!

If you missed out on a luxury advent calendar this year, I’d definitely recommend checking this set out. You can purchase the Ultimate Beauty Kit for £150 now at Net-a-Porter.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

5 Tips To Get A Good Night’s Sleep #SleepTips

Posted on November 8, 2016

5-tips-to-get-a-good-nights-sleep

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re all well? I’ve been extremely busy lately with moving house. We’re now settling in though and I’m finally getting back into blogging.

Today I wanted to talk about something that we all do without giving much though to – sleep. Everyone has different sleep patterns, and everyone gets a different quality of sleep depending on their circumstances. Personally I’ve always been a good sleeper – I mean I can pretty much drop off anywhere. BUT I’m also a light sleeper, and the smallest noise will most definitely wake me up, so I often feel that I don’t get a quality night’s sleep even though I usually get around eight hours.

I’ve recently received a brand spanking new luxury mattress from Leesa, which I’ve been trying out since I’ve moved to our new house, so I thought I’d let you know how I’ve been getting on with it, as well as offer a few other tips for helping you get the best nights sleep possible.

My first sleep tip would definitely be DO NOT underestimate the importance of a quality, comfortable mattress. For many years I used to have either second hand (and completely knackered) mattresses, or just literally the cheapest money could buy. And none of them did me any good – both in terms of the sleep I was getting, as well as being bad for my back. And I don’t even want to get into the issues of dirt and dust mites in old used mattresses – ew!

When I ordered my Leesa mattress, I was impressed with the ease of use and navigation on their site. Apart from making purchasing very straightforward, there was also plenty of information available about the company and the mattresses themselves, as well as a review section where you can read other customer’s reviews, which I found very helpful.

Leesa’s mattresses are built with three layers of premium materials, including a layer of contouring memory foam, for comfort and pressure relief, a top layer of cooling foam and a seamless, soft fabric cover.

Interestingly, the mattress arrives rolled up in a box, and you simply place your rolled up mattress direct on your bed frame, unwrap and unfold and voila! Your new mattress is in place and ready to go. It’s also worth mentioning that Leesa gives you a 100 nights to try out the mattress – and if you’re not happy for any reason you can return it with no hassle. I think this is such a good idea, as Leesa is solely an online company so you’re essentially buying ‘blind’ – this really shows that they have confidence in their product.

I’ve been using the Leesa mattress for a little while now, and I have to say I’ve been absolutely loving it! I usually have quite a soft mattress, and wasn’t sure if I’d get on with this as it’s most definitely firmer than what I’m used to, but it really is great. I feel like I’m comfortable and just generally sleeping more sound than I have done previously. You can check our Leesa’s range of luxury mattresses as well as snapping up a fantastic £50 off code here.

Ok so back to my sleep tips – my next one is pretty obvious, but Quit the Caffeine! I drink tea like its going out of fashion and I’ve been trying to cut back on my intake in the evenings. A good alternative is nice herbal tea such as chamomile if you like a warm drink, or there’s always good old fashioned milk, or soy-milk if you’d prefer a cold drink.

Tip number 3 is make sure you Take Time to Relax. Have a bath, read a book. Create a relaxing, soothing atmosphere to help your mind and body unwind.

Another thing worth mentioning is make sure your body is at the right temperature. It might sound a little odd, but if you’re slightly too warm, or too cool it can really affect your sleep. If you’re too cold it can take an age to warm up and get cosy, and I’ve found if you’re too hot, you can wake up with a headache and feel groggy for the rest of the day. So getting the temperature right really will help.

And lastly, I’d also recommend investing in decent products to help you sleep – this can be anything from buying yourself quality, soft sheets for your bed, or thicker curtains to block out light, to using specific products to help you sleep. I love the This Works Pillow Spray – which now comes in a lovely gift set with their Breathe In roll on (this would make a fab Christmas gift!) The Deep Sleep Pillow Spray contains calming lavender, vetiver and wild camomile to help you drift off into a relaxing slumber.

I’ve also recently been using the M&S Formula Absolute Ultimate Sleep Cream – which promises Skin looks like you’ve had 8 hours sleep (even when you haven’t). Now I know this isn’t going to help you sleep – but as I’m quite a restless sleeper, I’m up for any product that’s going to make me look like I’ve had 8 hours! I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and I have to say, I think it actually works. I feel like my skin just looks a bit brighter and smoother, and feels more rested when I wake up the mornings now. It’s only £22.00 for a pot too, so definitely worth it in my books.

I hope you enjoyed my post and found these tips helpful – and don’t forget, you can get £50 off a luxury Leesa mattress here.

you-beauty-advent-calendar-2016-review

The price of this calendar is £69.95, which I think is a really good deal – especially considering the products included are worth over £270. But if I were to be picky, I’d probably say the MUA palette is a little out of place here – it would have been nice to see something of a bit higher value in its place really. I’m not complaining though, I still think this is an excellent calendar!

NEW Lookfantastic September Beauty Box | Review

Posted on September 16, 2014

lookfantastic-beauty-box

Hi Guys!

New on to the beauty box scene is none other than one of my favourite online beauty stores, Lookfantastic! When news spread of their first ever Beauty Box at the beginning of September, I was keen to purchase it. Lookfantastic kept their cards close to their chest, only revealing that the contents would be worth over £50 and it would be a mixture of beauty and skincare products, so I had no idea what to expect! I thought for £15 it’d be worth a punt though, and it turns out it really was!

It’s great to hear the Lookfantastic beauty boxes will always include a minimum of six products, offering a selection of skin, hair, cosmetic and body products, also a mystery gift (worth £149.99) was been added to 5 random boxes. I’m not sure if this will happen every month or if it was just for September as it was the first box. If you got one of these please let me know! I’d love to hear what the gift was!

lookfantastic-box

lookfantastic-beauty-box-inside

My box arrived a couple of days ago and I’m very impressed with the contents. You’ll find no sachets or tiny samples in here! This is what was included –

  • Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum 15ml (rrp about £25)
  • Kerastase Bain Satin 1 Sahmpoo (rrp £10) Currently advertised as a free gift on Lookfantastic
  • Kerastase Lait Vital Nutrition Care 75ml (rrp about £10)
  • This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray 5m (rrp about £1)
  • Caudiale Divine Oil 15ml (rrp about £4)
  • St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mouse 50ml (rrp £9.99)

Apart from the St Tropez, all products are smaller than average size, so I’ve checked out the prices of the full sized versions on the Lookfantastic site, and worked out the values of the beauty box products accordingly, so all prices are rough. I hope that makes sense!

lookfantastic-beauty-box-cards

So far I’ve tried the Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum, and I’m loving it, plus it smells divine. And I gave the This Works Pillow Spray a go last night – I’m not sure if it actually worked but I definitely had a good sleep!

I heard this box actually sold out in the first 24 hours of pre-order, wow! But don’t worry if you missed out, October’s box is now available for pre-order, and as ever there are only limited quantities available so make sure you order now! Lookfantastic have also confirmed to me that a monthly subscription option will be available soon too 🙂

So what do you think? Will you be ordering the October box?? Join the buzz at #LFBEAUTYBOX xxx
