Beauty News & Gossip 21/07/16: Kat Von D & Jeffree Star DRAMA, Urban Decay, Pat McGrath & More!

Posted on July 21, 2016

Hi Guys!

Well, where to start with this week’s news! In case you’ve somehow been living without social media, there has been some MAJOR drama going on in the land of beauty, with a face-off starting between Kat Von D and Jeffree Star.

Just a bit of background info – Kat and Jeffree have been friends for many years, so when she shared the below post on her Instagram page, everyone was wondering what has happened between the two to spark this…

kat-von-d-jeffree-star-beef

Ooh err! Beauty fans waited with baited breath to see who would strike next, and what would be said…

kat-von-d-jeffree-twitter

jeffree-star-responds-to-kat-von-d

Kat then followed up with a video explaining what had happened…

Where she accuses Jeffree of not paying for artwork her friend BJ did for Jeffree’s brand, amongst other stuff…

And then… it looks like Kat is opening her first ever beauty store in the UK. People have been speculating the whole thing could be a PR stunt…

And Jeffree has now just responded to Kat’s original video…

I won’t give a summary as the 23 min vid covers quite a lot, so I’d recommend you watch it yourself.

And lastly B.J Betts, the artist in the middle of this drama has finally spoken – with a very short and to the point tweet.

So what’s going to happen next – will Kat retaliate against Jeffree’s video? Is this the end of the drama? Keep your eyes on both Kats and Jeffree’s social pages to find out!

New In Beauty: Cover FX / Ciate / Urban Decay / Sleek Makeup & More!

new-in-beauty-summer-2016-review

Hi Guys!

There are so many fabulous new beauty launches around at the moment that are either available now, or launching very soon, so I thought I’d put a round up post together of some MUST HAVE makeup products you need in your life this summer – enjoy!

cover-fx-custom-enhancer-drops-review

You must have heard of Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops by now? This is easily THE product of Summer 2016. These liquid illuminators are EVERYTHING and I promise that you need at least one of them in your life. The Custom Enhancer Drops come in six shades, and have the most highly reflective, almost metallic formula – and they can be used pretty much anywhere and anyhow you like. I have the shade Candlelight which is a gorgeous warm bronze – perfect for adding to your foundation to enhance the colour for the summer, or wearing as it is on tanned skin for a lovely healthy glow. The range includes lighter shades too, which would make the most amazing highlighters! You can buy these on back order now for £34.00 at Space NK.

ciate-pretty-palette-review

The Ciate London Pretty Eyeshadow Palette (£29.00 at Ciate) could easily be my go-to palette for the whole of the summer. This compact little palette contains nine relatively large eyeshadows in a range understated, glamorous shades, in both shimmer and matte finishes.

Each shade is infused with Ciate’s Double Dose™, a finely-milled pigment that’s formulated to blend effortlessly. Its touchable, molten powder texture delivers one-swipe, vivid colour pay-off for high-impact, advanced wear, and the colours in this palette work perfectly well to take your look from day to night – this is definitely a makeup bag staple for me.

Smith-&-Cult-The-Tainted-Lip-Stained-review

Next the Smith & Cult The Tainted Lip Stained (£20.00 at Net-a-Porter) – this is like no other lip product I’ve tried – the formula reacts to the pH in your lips to bring out a subtle tint of colour – which is definitely subtle but noticeable. Unlike traditional stains, this rich balm is definitely more like a gloss, giving lips a lovely shine whilst boosting moisture levels. The Tainted Lip Stained’s are available in two shades –

  • Linger Sigh – a nude baby pink.
  • Sweet Suite – a watermelon pink.

true-brit-london-nail-polishes

On to nails now, True Brit London Nail Polish (£12.95 at True Brit London) have launched a brand new collection of polishes – the Garden Party range is inspired by the floral bloom colours seen on the catwalks, transporting you into a world of colour. The new collection also includes a fresh range of nude shades, including copper metallics and earthy, warm hues.

  • Apples & Pears – a mint green cream with tiny silver flecks.
  • Street Party – a bright barbie pink cream with tiny silver flecks.

palmers-flip-balm-lip-balm-review

And you’ve probably heard about these by now too – Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Flip Balms (£4.99 at Superdrug) come in three gorgeous flavours – Juicy Watermelon, Creamy Coconut and Ripe Mango. Being someone with chronically dry lips, I tend to get quite excited when a new balm is released! The Flip Balms are made from pure Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E to soften and soothe dry lips, whilst delivering incredible, long-lasting moisture. I’ve used Juicy Watermelon a few times and I have to say it really is a fantastic lip balm!

urban-decay-vice-lipsticks-review

And of course the Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks (£15.00 from Urban Decay) – the new range of Vice Lipsticks comes in a massive lineup of 100 shades, with six different finishes –

  • Metallized – cream with a pearl ‘metallic’ finish.
  • Cream – original creamy formula.
  • Sheer – a punch of colour with a sheer, shiny finish.
  • Sheer Shimmer – slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and a smooth texture.
  • Comfort Matte – creamy matte.
  • Mega Matte – super intense matte.

These are the ones I have above –

  • Pandemonium (mega matte) – an intense royal purple.
  • Big Bang (metallized) – a bright barbie pink with glitter flecks.
  • Backtalk (comfort matte) – a creamy nude pink.
  • Firebird (cream) – an intense deep fuchsia.
  • 714 (mega matte) – a bright tomato red.

There are both new shades as well as cult favourites included in the collection. Urban Decay have also included plenty of nourishing ingredients in their Vice formulas, to make sure they’re as comfortable to wear as possible. I’m most definitely in love with Backtalk, both for the colour as well as the formula – I think I may have to snap up some more of the Comfort Mattes now!

Sleek-MakeUP-Power-Plump-Lip-Crayons-review

And lastly, the Sleek Power Plump Lip Crayons (£5.50 at Sleek Makeup) – these innocent looking lip crayons aim to magically plump up your pout with a buzzy, tingling sensation – much like the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Glosses. The sensation is quite prickly, and quite a surprise if you’re not prepared for it! The crayons give a pigmented pop of colour whilst enhancing the appearance of your lips, helping them to appear fuller and more luscious.

  • Raving Rouge – bright true red.
  • Fully Fuchsia – bright blue toned pink.
  • Power Pink – mid pink.
  • Colossal Coral – light orange-coral.
  • Notorious Nude – warm nude beige.
  • Berry Burst – mid mauve.

new-in-beauty-summer-2016-makeup

Now you may have noticed I haven’t included any swatches in this post, well it turned out to be quite a long post in the end so I decided not to include swatches – but if you’d like to see swatches of anything at all (not just in this post) please do tweet me at tsncblog, or contact me on Snapchat (also tsncblog) or leave a comment below, and I will be more than happy to oblige 🙂

Beauty News & Gossip 01/07/16: Jaclyn Hill SUED, Urban Decay, Jeffree Star & More!

Posted on July 1, 2016

Hi Guys!

Sorry for the late post, this should have been published earlier last week – I hope you enjoy!

Ok so the biggest beauty goss of the last couple of weeks has to be that Jaclyn Hill is being SUED – OMG! Things are not looking too good for the Youtube star after the Becca Eyeshadow palette controversy, and now it’s emerged that a former close friend is suing her over copyright infringement. I won’t go into too much detail as you can easily Google it and take a look yourself  – and I’m not going to speculate who’s in the right and who’s in the wrong here, I just hope it gets sorted fast.

jaclyn-hill-new-becca-collection

In better news for Jaclyn, a whole new load of products have now been added to Becca’s Champagne collection, including four Champagne Split compacts which contain one half Shimmering Skin Perfector and one half Blush, as well as Shimmering Skin Perfectors in highlighter pen form – the Slimlight pens will be available in shades Topaz, Champagne Pop and Pearl. These are a must have for fans of the Champagne Pop range, and I’ll hopefully have more news on availability in the UK soon.

urban-decay-autumn-launches Urban Decay are always coming up with amazing products, and just look at all the awesome goodies they’re bringing out for A/W! Apart from the highly anticipated Moondust palette, there’s also an Allnighter full coverage, long wearing and water proof foundation range, Perversion is now launching in an Eye Pen, and the Razorsharp Liquid Eyeliners look AMAZING – 20 vibrant shades of water resistant long wear liquid eyeliners. I can’t wait for all of these products to launch!

anastasia-beverley-hills-new-stick-foundations

Jumping back across the pond again, Anastasia Beverley Hills are also launching a brand new twist up stick foundation, in a massive range of shades to suit all skin tones. I’m really loving the look of these!

jeffree-star-black-highlighter-halloween

And Jeffree Star – again. This time a BLACK HIGHLIGHTER. How even is this supposed to work? I have no idea but I’m looking forward to finding out!

nikkie-tutorials-too-faced-palette-reveal

Too Faced are great with their sneak peeks on Instagram – and now we finally know what the Too Faced X Nikki Tutorials palette will look like, and though I think it looks nice, I must admit I’m not overly wowed by it. What do you think?

too-faced-new-product-sneak-peek

And while I’m on the subject of Too Faced, Jerrod Blandino, owner of Too Faced has been teasing a lot lately with some super close up product shots on his Instagram, the latest being this close up of what looks like a multi-toned blush…

nars-dual-intensity-blush-palette

Fans of NARS’ Dual Intensity formulas will be very pleased indeed with the news of a new Dual Intensity Blush Palette. How gorgeous is this!? It includes a highlighter, two blushers and a contour shade. I can’t wait to see swatches!

colourpop-metallic-liquid-lipsticks

And I’m also pretty excited that Colourpop are adding to their already extensive liquid lipstick range with four new Ultra Metallic Lips. These shades are way more ‘Autumnal’ than what I was expecting, but I think they look lovely none the less. I’ll definitely be snapping at least a couple of these up on my next US order 🙂

viseart-new-eyeshadow-palette-2016

I’m trying REALLY hard not to buy any more palettes, but as soon as I heard Viseart were launching a new palette in the Autumn, I absolutely must have to have it. The shades look beautiful, and this is now top of my wish list!

laura-geller-illuminating-sticks

And lastly Laura Geller have just launched their Easy Illuminating Sticks… their Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminators were to die for, and these Illuminating Sticks come in two of the the same shades: Ballerina and Gilded Honey, and Ehereal is very similar to the Charming Pink Gilded Highlighter. These are available in the US now and will be coming to the UK very soon.

I’d love to hear which new launches you’re excited about?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Beauty News & Gossip 14/06/16: Jaclyn Hill SCANDAL, Urban Decay, Colourpop, Lime Crime & More!

Posted on June 14, 2016

Hi Guys!

After last week’s first ever Beauty News & Gossip post I’ve decided to make it a (roughly) weekly feature  – enjoy! 😀

jaclyn-hill-becca-eyeshadow-palette-problem

So first up this week – I have to address the Becca X Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette SCANDAL!

After the very exciting and hyped up release of Becca and Jaclyn’s range of collaboration products, including a face palette and an eyeshadow palette, all hell has broken loose. For those who haven’t heard, basically an eagle eyed beauty fanatic who’s particularly fond of Becca eyeshadows noticed that the shadows in the Jaclyn Eyeshadow palette just weren’t up to Becca’s usual high standards.

She then looked into it further and found that the Jaclyn Eyeshadow Palette was made in China, unlike other Becca eyeshadows, and also that it used very different (and significantly inferior) ingredients compared to other Becca shadows. You can see her YT vid here –

Customers then started to come forward and complain about the poor quality of the eyeshadows. Becca then admitted that there was in fact issues with the palette and stopped all sales, and Sephora have also been refunding customers that had already purchased it.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, Jaclyn then proceeded to throw Becca under the bus, so to speak, by saying on Snapchat (so I’ve heard) that she didn’t want to make the eyeshadow palette in the first place, and she didn’t really have much to do with the creation process – completely contradicting a previous YT video where she announced the collaboration products and told viewers that she was hands on from start to finish, and that this was an even collaboration between herself and Becca. Jaclyn has now deleted this video, and I have to say it all seems pretty dodgy to me.

And one final note on the matter… What about all the Youtubers and ‘Influencers’ (I really hate that word) that were sent these products to try before the public launch – there wasn’t one negative review of Jaclyn’s eyeshadow palette! They all said how amazing, how pigmented, how buttery soft and smooth the shadows were – so were they possibly telling fibs to keep the brand happy??

There’s some food for thought anyway – please do let me know what you think about this!

kylie-cosmetics-majesty

Though I’m personally not really interested in Kylie Jenner’s makeup range, I know it’s incredibly popular, so fans will be excited to hear about the new shade Majesty which is a metallic black with blue undertones. It will be available to purchase on 16/06/16.

jeffree-star-lip-ammunition

jeffree-star-lavender-snow-highlighter

And yes it’s Jeffree Star again! Even though he’s just launched a bunch of products, his Lip Ammunition Lipsticks – in satin and glitter finishes and a brand new Highlighter shade, Lavender Snow will also be available very soon.

And while I’m on the subject of Jeffree Star, one of my favourite Youtubers who will always call a spade a spade, Stephanie Nicole has recently posted a product and brand review on Jeffree – it’s a long video but it’s definitely worth a watch.

colourpop-sculpting-stix-and-highlighters

Favourite US budget beauty brand Colourpop also has some pretty awesome new products coming out. So far they’ve been all about the colour cosmetics, but they’re now launching a range of highlighter and contour sticks. At only $5.00 each they’re a complete bargain!

Lime-Crime-Superfoil-Water-Activated-Metallic-Eyeshadow-Duos

Controversial beauty brand Lime Crime have also just launched their Superfoil Water Activated Metallic Eyeshadow Duos, which look pretty amazing! These duos contain a brand new eyeshadow formulation that just requires a spritz of water to activate it. The result is a super high shine foil finish. This product is available in six different duos, which are £12.71 each from Lime Crime.

urban-decay-moondust-palette-preview

And lastly, Urban Decay is launching yet another new palette! Forget about the Naked palettes, this time it’s all about the metallics, the Moondust Palette will include eight new Moondust eyeshadows – I really can’t wait for this one! I don’t know when it will be available as yet, but I’ll let you guys know as soon as I find out.

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Coming Soon – The Urban Decay Moondust Palette!

Posted on June 10, 2016

Hi Guys!

I just heard about this product and I had to share with you!! It looks like Urban Decay will be bringing out a Moondust Palette including eight new Moondust shadows. If you’re not familiar with Urban Decay’s Moondusts, you can check them out here – they’re basically super sparkly pressed eyeshadows, with microfine sparkle and a high shine metallic finish – they really are amazing!

I’ve been trying to find as much info out as I can, but all I can really see are these posts on Trendmood1’s Instagram page – I highly recommend you follow them as they’re always one of first with the hottest beauty news and gossip!

Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette & Lipsticks Review + Giveaway! #UDinWonderland

Posted on May 13, 2016

urban-decay-alice-in-wonderland-palette

Hi Guys!

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, all beauty addicts will know by now that the latest limited edition collection from Urban Decay has just landed. The Alice through The Looking Glass collection contains a stunning eyeshadow palette as well as five outlandish lipsticks, and you really do need them in your life – read on to find out why!

urban-decay-alice-through-the-looking-glass-collection

We can definitely relate to the Cheshire Cat’s proclamation, “We’re all mad here.” Urban Decay introduces the Alice Through the Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette. Inspired by the new fantasy-adventure film release of Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, in theaters May 27th, 2016, this limited-edition, pop-up palette is a trippy tribute to our favorite characters from the film. Using this visually stunning film as our inspiration, we painstakingly created the perfect mix of 20 ALL-NEW shades, then arranged them all in columns by character and put them in an intricately designed, collectible palette. Match up the columns to steal their looks or mix up these shades to create countless others. From softer shades inspired by Alice’s look in the film to bold, bright shades like those seen on the Mad Hatter, it’s all here.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the palette. This palette is EVERYTHING. You lift the top up to reveal a mirror, then pull up the tabs to reveal a 3D pop up butterfly – how awesome is that!!

It also has 20 all new and rather gorgeous eyeshadow shades hidden in a drawer underneath the butterfly, there’s matte, satin and shimmer shades in there, and of course a double ended brush as per usual from Urban Decay – it really is just as exciting to open up as I’d anticipated!

urban-decay-alice-products

Ok so let’s take a closer look at the shadows – there’s a fantastic range of colours included in this palette, from soft nudes and browns, which are some of the easiest colours to wear, right through to some crazy bright and intense shades, such as Metamorphosis, an intense periwinkle blue, and Cake, a bright fuchsia pink shimmer.

I have done some swatches but I should point out that they really no not do these shadows justice I’m afraid, the colours are way more intense and beautiful in real life –

urban-decay-alice-palette-swatches-row-1

  • Looking Glass – a pale pink demi-matte.
  • Hatter – a vibrant green with micro-sparkle.
  • Lily – an iridescent opal pink pearl.
  • Heads Will Roll – a vibrant bright turquoise with gold micro-sparkle.
  • Time – a black-navy satin with soft iridescent micro-sparkle.

Lily is just beautiful, and probably my favourite shade from this row, it has the prettiest iridescence to it that I wasn’t able to capture. Heads Will Roll is also a gorgeous shade that I can’t wait to experiment with.

urban-decay-alice-palette-swatches-row-2

  • Reflection – a soft matte peach.
  • Gone Mad – an aubergine purple with pink iridescent pearl.
  • Duchess – a peach with a pink iridescent shift and micro-sparkle.
  • Bandersnatch – a deep matte teal.
  • Dream On – a metallic silver-lilac shimmer.

I love Bandersnatch! It’s such an intense matte shade, and Dream On is so sparky and shimmery, it looks beautiful when it catches the light.

urban-decay-alice-palette-swatches-row-3

  • Dormouse – a warm brown matte with gold micro-sparkle.
  • Paradox – a vibrant orange with gold pearl shimmer.
  • Kingdom – a copper-bronze pearl shimmer.
  • Salazen – an intense metallic crimson shimmer.
  • Chronosphere – a deep metallic shimmer bronze.

The third row is definitely my favourite though, I love all the shades here, Paradox and Salazen have really caught my eye though, they’re buttery soft and so amazingly well pigmented.

urban-decay-alice-palette-swatches-row-4

  • Metamorphosis – a vibrant periwinkle blue with micro-sparkles.
  • Cake – an intense blue-pink with silver micro-shimmer.
  • Chessboard – a medium brown matte.
  • Royal Flush – a light cream shimmer.
  • Mirror – a mid grey-taupe satin.

And on the last row, Metamorphosis and Cake are easily the stand out shades here – both are gorgeous and unusual.

urban-decay-alice-lipsticks

urban-decay-alice-lipsticks-review

urban-decay-alice-lipstick-swatches

And the lipsticks! There are five lipsticks in this collection, in an array of loud and outlandish colours…

  • Time – Gunmetal-navy with silver shimmer.
  • Alice – Sheer nude with pink shift.
  • Iracebeth – Bright red matte.
  • Mad Hatter – Bright purple shimmer.
  • Mirana – Matte berry with tonal shimmer.

Apart from the shade Alice, these lipsticks really aren’t for the faint hearted! I love Time, a deep navy blue with a slight shimmer, and Iracebeth is absolutely beautiful, it’s a bright red matte, slightly on the pinkish side, but only slightly – this red is just stunning.

urban-decay-alice-through-the-looking-glass-review

So what do you think? I must admit I’ve been completely blown away by these products – from the wonderful packaging to the superior formuals, Urban Decay really has hit the nail on the head with this collection. The palette is a fantastic bargain for £43.00 too when you consider how much product you get, and the lipsticks are also £16.00 each. Unfortunately they’re all sold out online and in most stores at the moment, but I have some good news for one lucky reader…

urban-decay-limited-edition-collection-review

Yes, it’s giveaway time! I have one palette and one of each shade of lipstick to give away to one of you lucky lot, courtesy of the lovely guys at Urban Decay.
