Wantable November Makeup Box | Review

Posted on November 26, 2014

Hi Guys!

This month’s Wantable box arrived in record time, and I was excited to find a brand I’d never heard of before inside – Surratt Beauty. After looking into this company the products look rather good – they’re stocked in Liberty and have a high price point, so now I have high hopes and I really hope I’m not going to be disappointed!

First up is the Surratt Beauty Smokey Eye Baton in Mauve, $35.00

This is supposed to be a creamy liner with a smudger at the other end to create a smokey eye look. The liner is great but there’s no smudger! I’m not sure what happened there – the description includes mention of a smudger, as does other online descriptions but there’s definitely not one in sight!

Good points – The product has a creamy, smooth texture that’s easily blendable. I love the shade I received, Mauve. It’s a beautiful deep purple that’s easily build able and a great alternative to black.

Not so good points – There’s no smudger! Boo!

Next is another Surratt product, this is the Concealer in Fair, $50.00

Surratt’s concealer stick adheres to skin perfectly and wears beautifully for flawless, long-lasting, full coverage.

Good points – This definitely feels like a premium product, it has a matte finish that blends well and easily covered my dark circles.

Not so good points – Depending on your skin tone, this shade could be too light for you. Luckily I’m white as a ghost so it’s perfect for me, and if you’d like to try the concealer there are plenty of other shades available. Also it’s worth mentioning that the product is only a tiny 1.9g which really is super small for the $50.00 price tag.

Next is the Yourminerals Loose Eyeshadow in Lime, $22.00

Good points – I love love LOVE this shade, it’s such a beautiful pale olive green that’s super finely milled with gold sparkles. It catches the light beautifully and has a lovely soft consistency.

Not so good points – There’s nothing wrong with the actual product, but there’s nothing to stop the powder going everywhere inside the pot. There are four square holes that you tip the shadow out of and nothing to close them off so it just all comes out inside the lid. This shouldn’t be a problem as long as you’re careful when unscrewing the lid.

And finally a Vincent Longo Deluxe Blush Brush, $24.00

Good points – I’ve had some Vincent Longo brushes in previous boxes and I’m never disappointed. This is a premium synthetic brush with long flexible bristles. It’s super soft and lovely to use.

Bad points – None!

Overall this little box included products valuing a massive $131.00 (£83.11) I’m pretty sure it’s the highest value box I’ve had so far! I’m really impressed with the selection of products included and hoping to see more of Surratt Beauty in future boxes!

You can check out Wantable and sign up here.

I hope you enjoyed my review! xxx

Wantable August Makeup Box | Review

Posted on August 24, 2014

Hi Guys!

It’s time again for another Wantable box! This month’s box looks great with four items including a rather awesome looking eyeshadow, under eye brightener, eyeliner and mascara. If you’re new to Wantable, you can check out all the deets and info in my very first post here.

First up is the Elizabeth Mott – It’s so Big! Mascara ($19.99)

It’s So Big! Volumizing Mascara is a unique formula that lengthens and curls your lashes without smudging. Maintains mega volume for the whole day with easy removal. The secret weapon is the hourglass brush shape, wit its long and short bristle pattern to deliver just the right amount of mascara to each lash (like magic!) Watch your lashes grow bigger with each layer.

Good points – Erm, none.

Not so good points – Sorry to start with a downer but unfortunately this is probably the worst mascara I’ve ever tried. The formula felt kind of tarry and stringy, it took many strokes just to get one layer of mascara, it didn’t lengthen at all, only slightly thickened and it just really wasn’t anything special at all.

Next is the Vincent Longo – PearlX Eyeshadow in Etherea ($25.00)

This unique, out-of-this-world formula opens new vistas in eye makeup. Pearl X eyeshadows spread cool to warm tones throughout a sophisticated multi-textured product, to create shades of matte and shine that effortlessly blend and shift as you apply. The galactic multi-textures of matte and pearl encourage a personalized, creative application style.

Good points – Well firstly just look at it! This eyeshadow it stunning! It reminds me of another eyeshadow that I can’t just put my finger on, possibly MAC?? I love the different nuances of colour, and I really had no idea what to expect from the swatch! The shadow itself is soft and feels luxurious, and it comes out as a lovely warm golden bronze – I love it!

Not so good points – None!

Tarina Tarantino – Eye Dream Hyperlight Eye Brightener ($22.00)

This universal shade brightener instantly reduces the appearance of dark circles and diminishes discolourations around the eye area to create a radiant youthful glow in one swift swipe! This blendable, crease-free formulation was designed to be applied under or over your concealer and foundation making it the quick fix for weary mornings or long days to keep you looking bright eyed and refreshed at all times!

Good points – The packaging is gorgeous, as with all Tarina Tarantino products. This handy little product conveniently hides dark circles whilst illuminating and making your complexion suddenly brighter. I found this wasn’t the best as a concealer, but on top of my normal concealer this worked wonderfully to make my complexion brighter.

Not so good points – Apart from the fact that I need a stronger concealer, this is a fab product.

Glam Natural – Eyeliner Pencil in Black Opal

Use GlamNatural Mineral Eye Pencils to line, define, and dramatize. These BodySafe pencils will safely add dimension and definition to the eyes without compromising your health. Classic blackest black.

Good points – Hmm ok well this is a pretty bog standard black eyeliner pencil, it’s not the blackest black, nor the softest formula, but I have seen worse. This is average at best.

Not so good points – See above.

So overall this box has been a bit of a mixed one, I’ve got a couple of great products and a couple of not so great ones here. I updated my settings last month to include mascaras and makeup tools, which were previously excluded from my options. I’m kind of regretting adding mascaras now! Fingers crossed next month’s box will be better! 🙂

Don’t forget to check out the Wantable site and take a look at their other subscription boxes! xxx

Wantable June Makeup Box | Review

wantable makeup june

Hi Guys!

It’s that time again! I’m a bit late with my Wantable review this month due to my birthday, so I’m now trying to catch up with my posts 🙂 This month’s Wantable makeup box included a lipstick, blush and highlighter duo, pressed powder and eyeliner gel.

How does it work? If you haven’t seen my other reviews, I’ll give you a quick rundown. With Wantable you firstly choose your category (makeup, accessories or intimates) then answer some questions so they know which styles you like, and which you don’t like. You can then subscribe for $36 (£21.16) a month or $40 (£23.51) for a one off box – it’s also handy to know you can skip a box or cancel your subscription at any time.

mirabella lipstick review

mirabella lipstick swatch

First up is the Mirabella Lip Colour in Nude ($22)

Rich, high-pigmented fashion shades go on smoothly and stay put.

Good points: This is a gorgeous neutral pink colour which would be great for every day wear. It’s creamy and moisturising but not completely opaque. I imagine this will be one of my go-to pink lipsticks this summer!

Not so good points: None.

tara tarantino cream blush

tara tarantino dollskin swatch

Tara Tarantino Dollskin Creme Blush in Mr. Pink ($28.00)

This exquisite blush duo blends effortlessly on your cheeks with the subtle glisten of Sparklicity, now in powder form! This velvety cream to powder blush formulation acts as a magnet for Sparklicity powder giving long lasting fantastic results which leaving skin moisturised and healthy looking.

Good points: The creme blush is a great consistency, it looks bright but it can we worn very sheer and can be built up. The packaging also feels high quality.

Not so good points: The glitter in the shimmer section is made of very large particles, I’m afraid wouldn’t use this.

vicent longo pressed powder

Vincent Longo Pressed Face Powder in Golden Banana ($28.00)

One of the softest, lightest weight powders available in a compact form. By triple milling the powder and using real silk fibres, the powder becomes ultra fine and smooth to the touch. Blends completely into foundation and concealer leaving no residue for a totally invisible finish. Absorbs surface oils and sets foundation to maintain a smooth matte finish through out the day.

Good points: The powder is very finely milled making it velvety soft. The finish isn’t completely translucent and it gives a slight colour which is quite fair.

Not so good points: None.

ofra fixline eyeliner gel

Ofra Fixline Eyeliner Gel ($14.99)

This eyeliner gel provides a fine line without flakes or cracking. Long wearing and smudge resistant.

Good points: The colour is a deep, pigmented black, and it it easy to apply.

Not so good points: I think it’s mainly due to my eyeliner brush being too thick, but I did find this product difficult to create a fine line. I’ve had other gel eyeliners which have been solid in a glass jar, whereas this was wet and kind of runny, I’m not really a fan of this formula but maybe I’m just not used to it!.

Well overall this is another good box, worth a total of $92.99 (54.66) it hasn’t been the best but I’m really happy with the lipstick and pressed powder, these will definitely get used! If you want to check out my favourite Wantable boxes so far this year you can do so here – Wantable March Make Up Box Review and Wantable February Makeup Box Review.

I hope you enjoyed my review xx

My box this month was a slightly smaller box in height than before, it contained an eyeliner pencil, bronzer, lipstick and blush.

wantable review

sorme bronzer

First up is the Sorme Believable Bronzer in Goddess. This slightly glistening formula adds gorgeous luminosity while it warms your skin tone. True soft bronze tone stay true to colour and looks like a natural sun kissed tan. $30.00

sorme bronzer swatch

Good Points – Great product formula, easily blendable and buildable.

Not so good points – Slightly on the orange side for my liking. If I was a tanned goddess I’m sure this shade would be perfect, but as it is I’m ‘pale and peculiar’ – so my other half calls me!

dex lipstick

Next we have the DEX New York Lipstick in Brighton Beach. Rich, creamy colour conditioning lipstick with micro-bubbles that continuously release conditioners to keep lips soft and colour fresh for hours. $22.00

dex lipstick review

Good points – I absolutely love this lipstick! It has a fantastic creamy, moisturising formula, that is long lasting and doesn’t dry out the lips. The colour is perfect too!

Not so good points – None!

La Bella Donna Compressed Mineral Blush in Dylan. Get cheeky with La Bella Donna’s Compressed Mineral Blush. It’s lightweight formula gives cheeks a healthy, all-natural glow. $27.00

blusher swatch

Good points – Again a great formula, it has a slight shimmer which I wouldn’t usually go for but it does give a great glowy finish.

Not so good points – There’s nothing wrong with the product as such, this is just probably not a colour I’d wear every day.

wantable eyeliner review

Cailyn Cosmetics Eyeliner Pencil in 01 Black. This eyeliner pencil glides on smoothly, effortlessly providing rich, vibrant colour. The richly pigmented formula blends easily and is long lasting. It’s all the intensity of a liquid liner, with the ease of a pencil. $7.00

wantable eyeliner swatch

Good points – The pencil point looked a bit grey before I started using it, but when I swatched on my hand it produced a lovely intense black. It didn’t drag the skin and was comfortable to wear on my eyes.

Not so good points – None!

Here is the look I put together with these products – I did use a bit more bronzer than I usually would just so you can see the colour 🙂

Overall I’m really happy with this box! Wantable have come up with some fab products yet again! I think I’ll get more use out of the bronzer and blusher in the summer when I’m tanned (or fake tanned) The value of this box was $86.00 (£51.21) – so this box is a great bargain for the price of $36.00 ( (£21.44)

Wantable Accessories Subscription Box Review

Posted on February 6, 2014

Hi Guys!

Have you heard? Wantable.com is coming to the UK! If you haven’t heard of Wantable, they are a monthly subscription box service offering makeup, accessories and intimates boxes based in the US.

How does it work? With Wantable you firstly choose your category (makeup, accessories or intimates) then answer some questions so they know what styles you like, and what you don’t like. You can then subscribe for $36 (£22.08) a month or $40 (£34.53) for a one off box – it’s also handy to know you can skip a box or cancel your subscription at any time. So here is my first accessory box!

wantable jewellery box

Firstly I’d like to point out, the box only took about a week and a half from the date of order to arrive, I thought this was fantastic as it came from the US! When I opened the box there was a big banner across the foam insert saying ‘Hello, Beautiful’. This made me smile and I thought it was a lovely touch.

Inside there was an invoice showing the items that were picked for me and their values, and a list of the categories I said I loved and liked (I hadn’t disliked any)

So first up, I received a black pair of sunglasses in a pouch, they’re a good style to suit most face shapes, I’m definitely happy with these 🙂 These sunglasses feature a subtle cat eye shape for a classic meets modern look (Barb Sunglasses, $15)

Next up are two pretty awesome statement rings!

wantable rings

The Gertie Ring features a unique geometric design in distressed gunmetal (Gertie Ring $16)

wantable statement ring

The Donatella Ring features a unique, spiked design in a brushed gold tone finish for a look of a multi-finger ring without the discomfort (Donatella Ring $20)

And finally a lovely necklace – When you want to add a little something extra to your ensemble, the Vieira Necklace is the perfect choice! This silvery necklace features faceted chevron elements in a chic smokey grey (Vieira Necklace $28)

wantable necklace

Overall I’m really happy with my box, these are all pieces I will wear! The total value came to $79 (£48.08) The cost of the box was $36 (£22.08), so I think I’ve got a pretty good deal!! 🙂 I think it’s also worth mentioning that shipping to the UK is $7 and tax is 20% making the total cost of a monthly subscription box $50.20 (£30.79) Before you’re put off by this, firstly $7 shipping from the US is really cheap, and the 20% tax is because you’re purchasing outside the EU, this upfront fee is to save you paying on receipt of your box. I hope that all makes sense!

You can sign up with Wantable here! xxx
