Yankee Candle Riviera Escape Collection

yankee-candle-riviera-collection-review

Hi Guys!

One of my favourite candles brands, Yankee Candle are back on the blog this evening with their latest collection, inspired by a sun-kissed escape to the Riviera…

The Riviera Escape collection contains four fresh, summery fragranced candles, as well as matching candle accessories –

Starting with Olive & Thyme – This is a wonderfully fresh and bright fragrance, it’s distinctly herbal in nature with a sharp citrus top note which you can’t fail to miss. This fragrance is inspired by the Mediterranean coast, including notes of olive leaf, citrus and musk, to whisk you away on an Italian adventure.

Next, Riviera Escape – This is definitely my favourite candle out of the collection. Riviera Escape is a beautiful clean and fresh coastal scent, evoking glittering promenades, full with hillsides of beautiful blossoms glowing in the sun. This scent instantly takes me to the coast and I can’t get enough of it!

And Sea Sage & Salt – Now this fragrance is described as ‘warm and inviting, sage mingles with the clean, fresh scent of sea salt…like a relaxing walk along the shore’ but I have to say I really don’t get this at all. To me, this candle smells like men’s aftershave! It really reminds me of my dad for some reason! This is definitely a masculine scent, and not really one for me unfortunately.

And lastly Summer Peach – This scent is almost mouthwateringly juicy – I mean my mouth literally nearly waters when I smell this candle! Fans of sweet scents will love the Summer Peach candle – echoing ripe peaches straight from the orchard, warmed by the sun and begging for that first juicy bite, this fragrance is the epitome of summer.

Yankee Candle My Serenity New Spring Collection

Yankee-Candle-My-Serenity-New-Spring-Scents

Hi Guys!

It’s Wednesday morning and it’s bright and breezy here in sunny Norfolk, so I thought I’d make the most of the weather and take a bunch of photos this morning! So I have Yankee Candle’s newest offerings to share with you today, the My Serenity Collection of candles come in an array of lovely spring time pastel shades, with fragrances that are warm, bright, sweet and fresh – just perfect for this time of year. The My Serenity fragrances aim to inspire the gentle awakening of springtime with a sense of calm, mindfulness and optimism.

Starting with the My Serenity candle – this is a wonderfully light and sweet scent. It really reminds me of something but I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. The My Serenity scent combines distinct notes of warm pear with orange, tropical flowers and soft musk, for a lovely calming scent. This is definitely my favourite fragrance out of the collection.

Next the Moonlight candle – I had no idea what to expect with this one! What does moonlight smell like? Well it’s a very subtle light clean scent, with woody notes, bamboo and bergamot. Personally I’d have preferred if this candle’s fragrance was a bit more intense – if you’re not a fan of strong scented candles though this could definitely be the one for you.

And I knew I was going to love the Peony candle – peony is one of my favourite flowers in terms of fragrance, and it features in plenty of my favourite perfumes too. This candle is of course floral, but also has a sparkling sweetness that brightens up the scent. It’s a very feminine and girly fragrance.

And lastly Lemongrass & Ginger – this has a gorgeously fresh and zesty scent, perfect for those that love clean and citrus fragrances, this candle contains gentle lemongrass and just cut ginger to evoke feelings of refreshing invigoration, optimism and energy.

Yankee Candle Christmas Collection

yankee-candle-christmas-collection

Hi Guys!

Autumn / winter has to be my favourite time of year when it comes to fragrancing my home. Seasonal scents are always so welcoming when you come home from being outside in the cold. I love how they’re so warming and homely, and after a short while you begin to associate that scent with home.

There’s really nothing like snuggling with a blanket, watching your favourite Christmas movie (mine’s Elf, in case you were wondering) with a mug of hot chocolate and your favourite scented candle burning, while the weather is cold and horrible outside. Talking like this is actually making me look forward to the colder weather, I must be crazy! 🙂

Yankee Candles are perfect for making your home smell amazing, they’re really affordable and come in a large range of sizes, as well as a massive range of fragrances. And this year they’ve added four brand new fragrances to their winter collection –

Cosy By The Fire – A warm mix of ginger, clove, and orange combined with woody notes to give the snap of a crackling fire and the comfort of a hot aromatic drink beside it. I love this fragrance so much. If I close my eyes I imagine myself in a cosy log cabin, snuggled up by the fire watching the TV with my family.

Winter Glow – This is a cooler, crisp scent, making you think of frosted leaves on snow-covered trees, warmed by golden amber sun rays. This scent is definitely fresh but still has a warmth to it. This fragrance seems subtler than Cosy By the Fire – perfect if you don’t like your candles scented too strong.

Bundle Up – This is a clean, wintry scent that brings back frosty days and cosy warm clothing. There’s a definitely hint of washing powder in there, as well as a touch of citrus and a dash of smoke. The image on the front of the candle shows children wrapped up in winter clothes sipping on hot chocolate, and it just reminds me of my son. This may become a Christmas favourite for me for that reason 🙂

Berry Trifle – Super sweet and literally mouth-watering, Berry Trifle has a tangy and sharp fresh berry scent, nestled on a bed of soft vanilla cream to take the edge off. I have a sweet tooth and this really does smell good enough to eat.

I love this collection of fragrances so much! I keep smelling them over and over again trying to pick a favourite and it’s so hard. I think I’ll end up switching between them depending on my mood.

The Christmas Candle Collection are all available now, starting from only £1.49 for a wax melt at Yankee Candle.

I’d love to hear which your favourite candles are for winter?

Beauty at Tesco Mini Haul!

Posted on November 17, 2014

beauty-at-tesco-haul

Hi Guys!

You may have heard on the grapevine that Tesco have opened a range of Beauty World stores this year, to share this exciting news they kindly sent me a £25 voucher to spend on some of the fabulous products they offer! Yay! Unfortunately there isn’t a Beauty Word store near me (yet!) so I used my voucher online and ended up with a mini haul including some awesome products!

(Before I get onto the products, I must apologise for my grainy photos – there’s just no light at the moment and I keep getting reflections when I use my blogging lights, so I need to figure out the best way round this really! If you have any tips please let me know!)

Now on to the goods! I took a look round the Tesco Direct site and found some fab products…

beauty-at-tesco-maybelline-color-tattoo

First up is the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in 65 Pink Gold. I have a few Color Tattoo’s already but never seemed to manage to get my hands on Pink Gold, which is a beautiful metallic rose gold shade. I was so happy to see Tesco Direct sell them and snapped this up straight away!

beauty-at-tesco-bourjois-eyeliner

Next is one of my all time favourite products – Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner in Bleu Neon. My current pencil has been used down to the stub, but I’ve been clinging onto it for dear life hoping to get as much use out of it as possible. Tesco Direct have a large range of makeup on offer but only this shade of Contour Clubbing eyeliner, so again I added this to my bag as quick as I could!

beauty-at-tesco-bubble-bath-and-bastiste

I have a big thing for bath products, especially luxurious bubble baths! So I went for the Along Came Betty So Much Bubble Bath Soak. A massive 500ml bottle was only £2.66 and it smells lovely so I can’t wait to get in the tub with this and splash around with Fred! On the subject of baths, on the rare occasion when I do get a bath to myself I love nothing more than a long soak with a scented candle or three in the room. I’ve been on the hunt for Christmass candles lately so I also added a Yankee Candle in Christmas Treats to my basket. This has a super sweet scent which will make my bathroom and home smell gorgeous!

And lastly is the Batiste Dry Shampoo in Floral & Fruity Blush. Batiste is probably the most famous brand of dry shampoo on the market yet I’d never tried their products before! I was in need of a new can of dry shampoo so I added this to my bag and I’m really glad I did, it gives hair a lovely fresh and fruity scent, and refreshes it so you can go an extra day without washing!

My purchases ended up coming to only a few pence under £25, so rather than remove something from my bag, I opted for ‘collect from store’ which is free, so I didnt have to pay delivery charges – result!

I’m super happy with my mini haul, I can’t wait to get in the tub tonight and try out the bubble bath and candle! I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

The End of My Spending Ban! And a Little Haul…

Posted on August 4, 2014

august-haul

Hi Guys!

So you may or may not have known that I’ve been on a sending ban for the Month of July, it was really difficult to not buy any makeup at all but I did it! Obviously by the end of the month I was literally gagging to flex some plastic and treat myself so I went into Norwich on payday and bought a few bits! I had to go to the dentist anyway so I thought it’d be completely silly of me not to have a little look round the shops while I was there! So I met up with my BFF Kat and and headed into the city…

I had my heart set on Jo Malone and Tom Ford before we’d even left home so our first stop was, of course Jarrolds. We headed to Jo Malone first but I really wasn’t sure what I wanted so I let the assistant take the lead and help me, and guess what? I’m not gong to tell you what I bought! Ha ha! I’m going to save that for another post 🙂 Ohh what a tease I am! I did buy a couple of lovely things though and they’re just so amaze I wanted to write a post just for them. Don’t worry I’ll have it done in the next couple of days! 😉 Ok so after Jo Malone we stopped at Tom Ford and I had to drag myself away before I maxxed out my card, which I could have done very easily – no purchases there I’m afraid, not this time anyway. We then headed to Chapelfield where I popped in Superdrug and picked up one of the new Revlon Colorstay Moisture Lip Stains, again all will be revealed all in another post but you can see from the picture which colour it is at least. I think I subconsciously went for this as I desperately wanted a Tom Ford lipstick and the packaging is kind of similar??

After a brief ‘is the baby coming right now?’ moment of panic with Kat who’s due on August the 11th, we then headed over to House of Fraser for a quick nose around and I found myself in the Yankee Candle section, funny that! They had a few new candles out, all with a distinct Autumnal feel which I wasn’t quite ready for yet. I’m still in full summer mode so I bought Pink Sands and Summer Scoop, which are both lovely summery scents. Summer Scoop especially caught my eye nose as smells just like strawberry ice cream. I did in the end also go for Amber Moon from the new Indian Summer collection, which again is lovely with scents of Amber, Patchouli and Sandalwood.

Kat then had to go home and I had a dentist appointment too at this point (the whole point of my trip into Norwich) and only after my appointment did I realise it was late night shopping, what a result!! So I headed back to Chapelfield for another look around and picked up some cleansing cloths from Boots as I seem to have lost all four of mine. H&M was my next stop as I always pick up every day basics from there such as their long vest tops which always come in a vast array of colours and I grabbed this awesome chain print tshirt, it was only £7.99 too, bargain! On the way back to the station I quickly stopped at Topshop for a peek and spotted these awesome pretty pink flats – I am partial to a pointed flat, and at only £16 it would’ve been rude to say no!

So that’s about it for my first spree of the month! I feel it was rather successful!

I hope you enjoyed my post and keep an eye out for my Jo Malone post coming up soon! xx
