Cohorted September 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on October 2, 2016

Hi Guys!

I’m a bit late with Cohorted’s September box – I’ve been so busy lately it’s unreal! Let’s take a look inside!

  • Cargo Land Down Under Palette, worth £35.00.
  • Percy & Reed No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo, worth £12.00.
  • Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm, worth £18.00.
  • Kure Bazaar Nail Polish in French Rose, worth £14.00.
  • MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara, 3ml worth about £7.00.

Total value of box = £86.00.

Ok so on first glance, I feel like this box isn’t too bad, but I must admit the Cargo Land Down Under Palette, being the main attraction feels a bit ‘same old’ to me. Cohorted have included so many different Cargo palettes over the months – it would have been nice to see a different brand really. If this is your first Cohorted box though, or your first with a Cargo palette, I think you’ll be happy. The palette itself is a lovely product. It contains a selection on 12 shadows, in mostly neutral shades with a couple bright summery tones too. There is also a black eyeliner pencil and a double ended brush included in the palette.

Next the Percy & Reed products. I haven’t tried this brand before so I was happy to find these in the box. The No Fuss Fabulousness Dry Shampoo is a ‘no frills’ dry shampoo that promises to soak up excess oil, cleanse the scalp and leave hair looking fresh and shiny. And the Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery Balm is an overnight treatment that you apply to dry hair before going to bed – then wash off in the morning. I love the sound of this as it’s supposed to help strengthen the hair and combat brittleness and breakage. I’m looking forward to trying this out!

The Kure Bazaar Nail Polish is a nice addition to the box too. Shade French Rose is a pretty pale baby pink – unfortunately though, I haven’t been able to unscrew the lid! I’ve tried a few times with no luck – does anyone have any tips for opening stuck nail polish bottle lids??

And lastly the MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara sample. I put the value of this as ‘about £7.00’ as thats what it works out at when you consider a full size tube at 8ml is £19.00. BUT – those that purchase from MAC will know that these samples are given free with your online orders, so I feel that this is kind of devalued because of that. I guess it depends how you look at it really! It’s a nice mascara though, and a great way to try a sample before you go for the full sized product.

So I think overall this box has been a bit hit and miss really – I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I hope you enjoyed my post xx

Cohorted February 2016 Beauty Box Review

Posted on February 27, 2016

Hi Guys,

Cohorted are back on the blog today with their latest subscription box – this one includes a good selection of makeup, skincare and fragrance, and a couple of fantastic brands we haven’t seen from Cohorted before. The February box includes:

  • Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow in 91 Apparition, worth £25.00
  • Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment, worth £45.00
  • Dove True Tone Underarm Dark Mark Eraser, worth £11.99
  • Elemis Pro Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks x2, worth £15.00
  • Cargo Cosmetics Long Wear Lip Gloss in Madrid, worth £10.00
  • Marc Jacobs Lola 1.2ml perfume sample, Free added extra.

Total value of box = £106.99.

Ok so the standout product in this box is obviously the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow. As far as I’m aware this is the first time Cohorted have included a Chanel product, and I think it will be very well received. This eyeshadow has a cream to powder formula – so it applies like a cream but feels like a powder on the skin, which I love. And as expected with Chanel, the formula is of superior quality. Shade 91 is actually rather lovely – I say actually because it’s a blue, and blue eyeshadow is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. This is a deep midnight metallic blue though, perfect for a smoky eye.

The Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment sounded familiar to me, and then I remembered this was included in Cohorted’s second ever beauty box, nearly a year ago in March 2015. This is a bit of a funny product, and by funny I mean it’s a powder that you apply to your face before going to bed! It’s supposed to reduce the appearance of pores, increase luminosity and even out skin tone, and I must admit I never got round to trying it out. This is definitely on my ‘to-try’ list now so I’ll let you all know how I get on!

The third product on the list is a Dove True Tone Underarm Dark Mark Eraser – now this product isn’t mentioned in the included information booklet, but the Pixi pencil which is mentioned is missing – so I’m guessing Cohorted ran out of Pixi and included this product instead. I must admit I’m a bit disappointed because I love Pixi products, and then pencil in the booklet does look rather lovely. Anyway, this ‘Dark Mark Eraser’ definitely sounds interesting. It’s actually a night cream, that you apply to clean armpits at bedtime, with the aim of brightening your skin. I think this is going to be a bit hit and miss – some people will thick it’s a great idea, and I think others won’t be so keen.

Next is the Cargo Cosmetics Long Wear Lip Gloss in Madrid. This is a sheer mauve shade packed with silver glitter. It’s a nice little gloss that’s non sticky and long lasting.

The Elemis Pro Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks are a welcome addition to this month’s box too. This is a first show from Elemis, which is one of my favourite skincare brands. These masks aim to instantly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving the eye area looking smoother and feeling moisturised – they sound right up my street.

And lastly the Marc Jacobs Lola 1.2ml mini sample. I’m a bit of a perfume fanatic so fragrance samples are always appreciated here!

Overall this is a great little box, and though I think I’ve had enough of seeing Cargo products for now, it’s great to see Cohorted have included Chanel and Elemis this month. I’d love to see more of these brands in the future!

On that note, I’d love to hear which brands or particular products you’re not so keen on in beauty boxes? And if there are any you’d really love to see?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Cohorted November Beauty Box | Review

Posted on November 11, 2015

Hi Guys!

November’s Cohorted Box has just landed, and as expected, it’s full of fantastic beauty and skincare products…

  • Cargo Cosmetics The Essentials Eyeshadow Palette, worth £35.00.
  • Laura Mercier The Flawless Facebook Palette in Nude, worth £38.00.
  • Bare Minerals Instant Eye Reviver, worth £6.99.
  • Nails Inc polish in Chelsea Flower Show, worth £11.00.
  • Nails Inc polish in Colville Mews, worth £11.00.
  • Chloe Eau De Parfum for Her, 5ml vial, value n/a.

Total value of box – £101.99

The Cargo palette is easily the stand out product here, and Cohorted seem to be quite the fan of Cargo as this is the third palette I’ve received in their boxes! Their eyeshadows are fantastic and I’m so glad I found their brand through Cohorted – I may not have discovered them otherwise!

The Essentials Eyeshadow palette contains muted neutral matte and shimmer shades, in variations of greys, browns and peaches. It’s influenced by the hues of urban architecture, and also contains a dual-ended eyeshadow brush. This has some great every day shades in it that are lovely to use and through previous experience I know they last all day. I think I’ll be getting a lot of use out of this palette!

The next palette is the Laura Mercier Flawless Facebook Palette, this contains a creme tinted moisturiser compact, a mineral pressed powder, two shades of secret camouflage, a secret concealer and a camouflage brush. This set would be perfect to throw in your makeup bag instead of carrying around a load of cover up products, or if you just want to travel light. My only issue with this set though would be that it’s not going to suit everyone’s skin tone.

I love Nails Inc polishes, and the two beauties included in this month’s box are no exception. Colville Mews is a lovely light nude beige shade – I love nude nails so I’m really happy with this. I think the other shade, Chelsea Flower Show is a bit of a ‘marmite’ colour, meaning some people will love it and some will not be so keen. Personally I think it’s great!

The Bareminerals Instant Eye Reviver is one of the most interesting products I’ve come across in a while. Firstly, the bottle felt empty, so I initially thought I may have received a dud. But nope, this little bottle actually contains a powder, with the strangest texture ever. You’re advised to pat the product under the eyes gently, and as soon as you touch it, it disappears and has almost a silicone primer feel on the skin. I don’t feel like this gives me instant results, but I’ll see if it makes any difference in time.

And lastly it was nice of Cohorted to throw in an extra sample, this time it was a 1.2ml vial of Chloe EDP, which is a lovely fresh floral fragrance.

Did you pick up November’s box? I’d love to hear if you have any of these products too!

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx

Cohorted August Beauty Box | Review

Posted on August 16, 2015

Hi Guys!

I hope you’re having a great weekend so far? We’ve been having lots of family fun this week, and I’m extra happy because the latest box from Cohorted has just landed on my doorstep, yay! This month’s box contains a lovely selection of products, including skincare, makeup and beauty accessories…

  • Bare Minerals BareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper, worth £15.00
  • Laura Geller Baked Impressions Duo Eyeshadow in Fine Wines, worth £15.00
  • Bare Minerals Soft Focus Face Brush, worth £20.00
  • Cargo Eye Colour Quad Palette in Bermuda, worth £10.00
  • Molton Brown Relaxing Yuan Zhi Body Cream (30ml), worth £4.00

Total value = £64.00

Ok so the first product to jump out at me is definitely the Cargo Palette. The Eye Colour Quad in Bermuda is a really good size, with four large square pans and a full size mirror. The shadows all have a shimmer finish, and come in a range of warm neutral shades including a light olive green with gold sparkly flecks, a mid brown with the slightest hint of sparkle, a lighter shimmery brown, and a pretty pinkish brown with gold sparkly flecks. Cargo eyeshadows are always really good quality, and this palette is no exception, I’ll definitely be getting some use out of these shades!

Next is the Laura Geller Baked Impressions Eyeshadow Duo in Fine Wines – I’ve been wanting to try Laura Geller products for a while now so I was excited to find this in the box! The lid of this eyeshadow has a tiny half mirror on the inside, personally I’d rather get rid of the clear section on the lid and have a full size mirror that’s easier to use. The shadows though are gorgeous, both shades have a matte finish, and there’s a muted light pink shade, and a dark greyish purple included, with a pretty embossed pattern on top. Both shadows are super soft and finely milled, I love the purple shade especially 🙂

Eagle-eyed readers may have noticed that Bare Minerals products are a popular choice with the Cohorted crew. There was a Heavenly Face Brush in the April box, and a Pure Transformation Night Treatment in the March box. So if you’re a fan of Bare Minerals, you’re in for a treat with August’s box, as there are two products included this month, including a Skin Rev-ver Upper skin primer and a Soft Focus Face Brush. Bare Minerals brushes really are fantastic quality, and the Soft Focus Face Brush is just lovely to use. The bristles are soft and flexible, and this brush is perfect for applying Bare Minerals’ Mineral Veil and All Over Face Colours. The Skin Rev-ver Upper is a primer designed to rejuvenate your complexion like a daily multivitamin supplement, with the added benefits of glycolic and salicylic acids to prepare skin for flawless makeup application.

And lastly the Molton Brown Relaxing Yuan Zhi Body Cream. I LOVE Molton Brown products, I have a few of their shower gels that I like to throw in the bath like there’s no tomorrow, but I haven’t tried any of their moisturisers before. The Yuan Zhi scent is a beautiful, relaxing fragrance with ylang-ylang, rose and vanilla, to soothe the senses. I’ll be trying this out after my bath tonight!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Cohorted June Beauty Box | Review

Posted on June 16, 2015

Hi Guys!

Well June’s Cohorted box has just landed, and as expected it’s another one jam packed with fantastic products. Here’s what’s included in this month’s box –

  • Cargo Cosmetics Let’s Meet in Paris Eyeshadow Palette – Full size worth £35.00
  • Cargo Cosmetics Bronzer in Light – Full size worth £20.00
  • Essie Summer 2014 Collection nail polish in 321 Roarrrange – 5ml worth £5.00
  • (Surprise product) MAC Eyeshadow in Shroom – Full size worth £13.00

Total value = £73.00

Cohorted, you really are spoiling us with these gorgeous Cargo palettes!! This is the second full size 12 pan palette they’ve included in their boxes – each worth a massive £35.00, and I haven’t had a chance to review the first one yet! (You can see it in last month’s box here)

Ok so the Let’s Meet in Paris palette comes in a lovely printed fabric covered case, it has a handy interior mirror and contains twelve stunning shimmer shadows. And these. Are. Stunning. They’ve included a couple of gorgeous golds, nudes and greys, as well as a jewel tone deep green and purple. All shades are really wearable and perfect to create a smoky eye. I WILL be doing full reviews (and hopefully looks) with both palettes in the next couple of weeks, so keep your eye out!

Also, Cohorted have included the Cargo Powder Bronzer in Light. This comes packaged in a decent sized tin with a screw on lid – it kind of reminds me of the type of tin Steam Cream comes in. This is a lovely light shade of warm toned bronzer, with a slight hint of shimmer. It’s perfect for warming up lighter complexions but can also be built up if you have a darker skin tone.

The Essie polish in 321 Roarrrange is a really nice bright orange shade. It’s not neon in any way but it’s definitely an intense orange – the sort of shade that would look great with a tan! Also, I actually don’t mind that it’s s small 5ml bottle, I have SO many nail polishes that I’ve only used once, I don’t think I’ve ever actually used a nail polish up, so receiving a smaller bottle isn’t a problem at all.

And lastly Cohorted have included a mystery gift in every box. From looking on Twitter this appears to have been either a Sleek Contour Kit or MAC Eyeshadow. I already have the Contour Kit so I’m really glad I got this eyeshadow! Shroom is a really nice soft beige satin shade with a slight shimmer. It’s perfect for an all over base and I know I’ll definitely get a lot of use out of it.

Well done to Cohorted for bringing out another fantastic box! I think Cohorted’s monthly boxes are easily my favourite out of all the beauty boxes I’ve tried. They always include fantastic quality and high end brands, with mostly full size products. Keep up the good work guys!

I hope you enjoyed my post xx

Cohorted May Beauty Box | Review

Posted on May 11, 2015

Hi Guys!

My May Cohorted Beauty Box has literally just arrived, and I’m so excited I had to get everything photographed straight away so I could share it with you! This box is easily the best beauty box I’ve ever had, it contains four high end products, and I love them all!

  • Cargo Cosmetics Vintage Escape Eyeshadow Palette – Full size worth £35.00
  • Michael Kors Lip Lacquer in Dame – Full size worth £23.50
  • Dolce & Gabbana Lace Nail Lacquer in Perfection 220 – Full size worth £19.00
  • Too Faced Eyeshadow in Enchanted Garden – Full sized worth £15.00

Total value – £92.50.

Just WOW. I can’t get over how amazing this box is! For £19.99 this really is the bargain of the century! I’ve decided I’m not going to review the products individually right now, instead I’ll just give you an overview of each of them –

The Cargo Cosmetics Vintage Escape Eyeshadow Palette is easily the stand out product here, I’ve been wanting to try Cargo for a while so I was over the moon to find this in the box. It comes packaged in an unusual faux leather casing, with a magnetic closure and an internal mirror. This palette contains a selection of neutral shimmer and matte eyeshadows, and the shade selection is just beautiful. The 12 shades include smokey nudes, browns and charcoals in a range of light through to very dark colours. There’s no shades too bright or out there in this palette, so this would be perfect for natural day-to-night eye looks. I definitely want to dedicate a post to reviewing this palette properly so look out for it coming up shortly!

The Michael Kors Lip Lacquer lipstick is also beautiful, it comes in a metallic gold case, with the Michael Kors logo embossed in the lipstick bullet. This really is a beautiful luxury product. The shade Dame is also right up my street. It’s a lovely deep berry red, with tiny flecks of glitter – perfect for a statement lip.

The Dolce & Gabbana Lace Nail Lacquer looks to be the perfect nude shade. Perfection 220 is a light creamy beige. It looks fairly thick and opaque but I’ll have to try it out before I can let you know my final verdict. The packaging is of course beautiful, with Dolce & Gabbana’s logo in metallic gold over a lace printed lid.

And lastly the Too Faced Exotic Colour Eyeshadow. You may remember one of these in March’s box. This shade is Enchanted Garden, a high shimmer coffee brown shade. Again this looks beautiful, and it’s a completely universal colour so it’ll definitely suit all skin tones. If the formula is anything like  Copper Peony from March’s box, I know I’m going to love it.

Cohorted really have pushed the boat out with this box, I’m still stunned by the amazing brands and products that they’ve included. I will be reviewing everything separately over the coming weeks so please keep an eye out!

You can check out Cohorted’s previous boxes here – AprilMarch and February.

Did you sign up for May’s box? I’d love to hear what you think!

I hope you enjoyed my review xxx
