Beauty: Rituals – The Ritual of Sakura Collection

Posted on October 13, 2016

Hi Guys!

There’s nothing I love more that gorgeous and luxurious bath and body products – especially at this time of year. The Ritual of Sakura Collection is just beautiful both in terms of the scent and the packaging, and offers everything you need to pamper yourself, relax and unwind.

I’ve recently signed Freddy up to Forest School which we go to after school on a Friday. We’re literally outside in a forest, making fires, playing in ditches and doing fun outdoorsy stuff – and it always seems to rain! These products have now become a bit of a ritual for me (see what I did there) so when we get home I give Freddy a bath, then take a good hour to myself to soak and relax with my Ritual of Sakura products 🙂

For centuries, the Japanese have celebrated the annual flowering of the Cherry Blossom, or Sakura. Marking an awakening of nature, this symbolises that beauty is momentary and life must be enjoyed. Inspired by this tradition, The Ritual of Sakura collection blends the sweetness of Cherry Blossom with nourishing Organic Rice Milk, to make each day feel like a new beginning.

So let’s take a look at the products –

Starting with the Body Scrub (£19.50) – perfect for this time of year, the Sakura sugar body scrub has been formulated with mixture of organic sugar and softening oils, and it has been specially developed to gently exfoliate and nourish even the driest of skin. I absolutely love this – it leaves my body feeling super soft and smooth.

The Shower Foam (£8.50) is another fab product – there’s not really too much I can say about this except it gives a lovely creamy, moisturising foam and smells amazing!

I try to follow up with the Body Cream (£19.50) – when I remember and if I have time. This is a rich, velvety, whipped body cream that deeply nourishes skin. It also includes a blend of Vitamin E, Antioxidants and Centella Asiatica to help strengthen the skin too.

And I’ve been loving the Bed & Body Mist (£16.50) – apart from offering the same lovely Sakura scent, this mist also contains moisturising ingredients to leave skin velvety soft with a beautiful scent. Rituals have also advised to try spraying it into your washing machine to give clothes a floral aroma – which I definitely need to try soon.

And lastly, for fans of home scents, the Mini Fragrance Sticks (£14.50) could be right up your street – these mini sticks are perfect for scenting small rooms and last for around two to three weeks.

You can see the full Ritual of Sakura collection now at Rituals.

Molton Brown Limited Edition Bursting Caju & Lime Collection

Posted on September 20, 2016

Hi Guys!

Molton Brown is easily one of my favourite bath and body brands, and I get incredibly excited when they launch new products – I mean who doesn’t want a fabulously scented bath or shower? One of their latest ranges is the Limited Edition Bursting Caju & Lime Collection, which is right up my street. The fragrance is fresh, zesty and energising – which is exactly what I need first thing in the morning.

When I was creating this citrus fragrance, I was excited to bring to life the vibrancy and spark of Brazil’s caipirinha cocktail – the first fresh sip on a hot summer’s day. The top notes of caipirinha accord are refreshing with a squeeze of zesty lime, grapefruit, lemon and orange. To lift it even more, a dash of spearmint is added – crisp, just like the cocktail. To give that humid finish, woody fig tree and oak moss mix perfectly with upbeat green galbanum. – Jennifer Jambon, Principal Perfumer, Molton Brown.

Starting with the Bursting Caju & Lime EDT (£39.00) – this is a clean, fresh and zesty eau de toilette, with no specific gender in mind. This fragrance really is for everyone, evoking the lively ambience of Brazil’s colourful carnival and spontaneous nights, this scent is perfect for those looking for something zingy and bright.

  • Top notes: Lime, Grapefruit, Orange and Lemon.
  • Heart notes: Spearmint, Clary Sage, Galbanum and Cypress.
  • Base notes: Musk and Oak Moss.

The Bursting Caju & Lime Bath & Shower Gel (£20.00) – matches the EDT perfectly. This is an energising bath and shower gel blended with lime accord, spearmint and caju fruit extract with a base of Amazonian forest accord to evoke the bright mornings and spontaneous nights of Brazil.

And lastly the Bursting Caju & Lime Body Lotion (£25.00) – with the same fragrance as the Bath & Shower Gel, this luxuriously smooth body lotion is the perfect finish to your bath time routine, leaving skin smelling fresh and vibrant.

I’d love to hear which bath and body products you use? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

What’s New at The Body Shop?

Posted on June 19, 2016

Hi Guys!

It seems like hardly a month goes by without a new collection being launched by The Body Shop – not that I’m complaining! Their latest products include wonderfully scented bath and body goodies to leave your skin smelling like a tropical summer holiday, as well as a matching fragrance and some fab makeup products too…

Years ago, upon returning from a trip to the French Polynesian islands, I brought back with me an incredible flower: the exotically iconic tiaré flower. I remember falling under a spell as soon as I smelled it – it was totally unique and rare. Since then I have wanted to create a facetted, sensuous but modern solar fragrance from this classic white flower. – Elise Benat, Perfumer.

Starting with the Pinita Colada collection – the Body Butter (£14.00) and Shower Gel (£5.00) smell simply divine! The Body Butter is a rich yet lightweight cream, perfect for intensely hydrating normal to dry skin. And the soap-free formula of the Shower Gel promises to refresh and revitalise skin with a deliciously tropical scent.

The Polynesian Island Tiare EDT (£18.00) is a beautiful summer scent, floral, warm and exotic, it’s perfect for both day to day wear as well as balmy summer evenings.

At the top, a sparkling dash of juicy orange enhances the warm solar accents of a bouquet of sun-loving flowers – exotic Polynesian Tiaré blossoms, frangipani blossom and ylang-ylang at heart, warmed with a sensuous blend of creamy coconut and addictive vanilla for a luscious island scent.

The Body Shop has also recently launched some new makeup items – the Instaglow Bright Glow CC Cream (£14.00) is one of three new CC creams, suitable for fair, medium and dark complexions. Bright Glow for lighter skin tones offers SPF20 protection, whilst minimising the appearance of pores, reducing shine and illuminating the complexion. It works really well for a natural no-makeup look, or as an illuminating foundation primer.

And the Honey Bronze Drops of Sun (£12.00) – the easy way to fake that sun-kisssed glow we all love to have in the summer. You just blend one drop into a small amount of your daily moisturiser or foundation to keep your tanned look topped up, or even if you fancy a ‘one day’ holiday glow. Its matte-shimmer free finish makes your tan look natural, and it’s commitment free too as it washes off with your makeup.

Though all these products are fantastic – as expected from The Body Shop. My favourite has to be the Polynesian Island Tiare Perfume. This scent is just gorgeous and yummy basically summer in a bottle – and not to mention a complete bargain at £18.00 for a 50ml bottle, or only £24.00 for a massive 100ml. You’d be a fool not to snap this up!

All products shown above are available now at The Body Shop.

L’Occitane Aromachologie Body Care Collection

Posted on October 10, 2015

Hi Guys, happy Saturday!

What I love about L’Occitane is that they’re always bringing out fabulous new products, and I’m lucky enough to have their latest collection to share with you today!

The Aromachologie Body Care Collection is all about re-balancing the senses, body and mind. The collection has a fabulous re-energising scent, added to products that are made specifically to awaken the senses, help restore balance, and bring well-being and harmony to body and mind.

‘For 40 years, L’Occitane have studied the secrets of many essential oils and one of their most beautiful discoveries is the power of just the scents of these oils. The influence of scents on mood and behaviour was the very foundation for the L’Occitane Aromachologie range in 1976.’

Ok so let’s start by looking at the Limited Edition Rebalancing Bath Infusions (£15.00 for 5x sachets)

These sweet little bath infusions, that look like some sort of fancy tea bags are the perfect choice for a relaxing and revitalising bath. You’re actually advised to hang a sachet on the tap when you’re running your bath (rather than throw the bag in the bath, which I would have done if I hadn’t read the instructions) The Rebalancing Bath Infusions are made with citrus fruit peel and revitalizing salts, and each sachet provides a rebalancing effect which is beneficial for the senses and body.

And I just love the Rebalancing Black Soap (£16.00)

Now as scary as it looks, this soap isn’t actually coloured black, it’s kind of an orange / yellow colour which you can see on the final image below. The soap itself has a jelly-like texture in the pot, which turns into a paste on contact with the skin. The formula is olive oil based and enriched with eucalyptus essential oil to cleanse the skin and remove impurities. This soap really does do exactly as it’s supposed to, with the luxurious formula leaving skin with a refined texture that’s soft, nourished and silky to the touch.

Next the Rebalancing & Exfoliating Shower Gel (£14.00)

This is definitely my favourite out of all the Aromachologie products I have. This exfoliating shower gel has a fantastic energising and uplifting fragrance, with five purifying essential oils (Cypress, Juniper, Lemon, Thyme, Eucalyptus) to invigorate & rebalance. The formula also includes olive & lemon particles to delicately eliminate impurities whilst leaving skin super soft & smooth.

And lastly, the Rebalancing Face Mask (£20.00)

I do love a face mask as an evening treat, and if you’re in the need of a little pick me up, this Rebalancing Face Mask is perfect for the job. This gorgeously thick mask is enriched with absorbing vegetal and mineral powders to help remove impurities from the skin and tighten pores – which is perfect for my less than perfect complexion! It’s also formulated with essential oils to purify and rejuvenate the skin, helping to restoring its natural glow.

I’m officially in love with this collection! Apart from the fact that all the products work fantastically well to purify, rejuvenate and generally give skin a bit of an oomph, the scents are perfect for anyone that’s under the weather, tired and in need or rejuvenation. I highly recommend trying some of these products out!

We’re Going Camping!

Posted on August 13, 2015

Hi Guys!

Ok so I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not really the camping type. I’m more of a ‘take me to a luxury hotel and shower me with chocolates’  type. But in the spirit of family and adventure, I’m ready and willing to go on our camping trip, and have a great time while we’re there!

Just to explain, my other half has a brother who lives in Japan, he has a wife and kids out there and they’re coming over to visit! Fred is really excited as one of his cousins is a similar age to him so they can play together. I was informed the other day that we’re all going on a family camping trip when they arrive (after they’ve gotten over their jet lag obviously) I’m not sure of the details yet – and I’m pretty sure my husband isn’t either, but I know we’ll be in a tent (hopefully a nice one) and it’s likely to be in the middle of nowhere.

So I’ve been running through my head thinking about what we need to take, and trying to imagine every eventuality. Will there be toilets? I have no idea. Will there be shops close by in case we need anything? I don’t have a clue. I’m going to leave the planning and camping equipment side of things to the boys to sort out, and I’ll just concentrate on what Fred and I need.

Ok so apart from the usual clothes, food, drinks, toiletries etc, what else will I need to pack? Here’s my ‘Camping Survival’ list!

Let’s start with my favourite thing – makeup! When it comes to makeup, I want to keep it minimal, with just the bare necessities in my bag. I’m not going to be spending much time at all on my makeup so I just want to take the bare minimum I think a BB Cream, small eyeshadow palette, eyeliner and mascara should do the job to keep me looking half decent without overdoing it.

I also need to take my Malin + Goetz Lip Moisturizer. You may have seen this mentioned on the blog before, it really is my holy grail lip balm! The formula is a hydrating gel that contains fatty acids to prevent dryness and chapped lips as well as acting as a treatment to restore and replenish already dry lips. It’s really fantastic!

Continuing on the skincare route, I’ll also be taking my new Garnier Moisture Match Illuminating Light Lotion SPF20 – this weightless lotion contains Vitamin B3, Lemon extract and light reflecting pearls, to give a healthy-looking glow. Also containing SPF20 UVB sunscreen filters, the daily moisturiser protects as it hydrates without leaving any residue. And not forgetting my La Roche Posay Micellar Water to remove makeup.

On the subject of sunscreen, I also have a fantastic La Roche Posay one, the Anthelios XL SPF 50 Comfort Cream has a super high SPF of 50, as well as being specially formulated for sensitive and sun intolerant skins. It’s just perfect for me and Fred!

And next – wipes! Wipes are literally the handiest thing in the world to carry around with you. I’ve just started using the The femfresh Daily Shower Wash, but I have no idea if there will be showers available, so I’m covering all eventualities and taking some Freshening & Soothing Cloths just in case. They don’t really need much of an explanation, except that they have a specially formulated low pH balance for intimate, delicate and sensitive skin. And baby wipes too, they’re just an all-round handy thing to have – especially when travelling with kids!

On to hair now, I think dry shampoo is going to be a lifesaver for me, so I’ll be packing my Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush – Floral & Flirty to banish any oily roots, and add body and texture when my hair needs it.

And lastly, in case of emergency I’ll be taking my Benadryl Allergy Relief Tablets, a packet of Paracetamol, and Cushioned Plasters, just in case!

Have I missed anything important? Let me know!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
