Maybelline Master Kajal Khol Eyeliner in Lapis Blue Review

Maybelline Master Kajal Khol Eyeliner in Lapis Blue Review

Hi Guys!

Well I hate to do it, but I’m afraid I have quite a negative review for you today πŸ™

As soon as I saw the Maybelline Master Kajal Kohl Liner advertised on TV I knew I had to have it – I’m a big fan of blue eyeliner and when I saw the model with her intense deep blue liner, I was sold!

So off I rushed to Boots yesterday to purchase it in Lapis Blue, as well as the Black version and a lipstick too, as it was buy two items get a third free πŸ™‚

maybelline master kajal review

I must say I was quite intrigued by the kajal style of this eyeliner, I’ve never used one before as I’ve always previously used pencils. I couldn’t quite figure out how it worked at first, as there’s just one long point and the product does not twist up either. The side of the casing says ‘use sideways – no sharpener needed’ I have no idea how difficult of easy this will be to use, but I guess I’ll find out as the product wears down!

When I swatched on my hand, the tip broke off. I was quite disappointed with the pigmentation too but thought the end breaking off may actually be a good sign as it shows the product is soft, which usually indicates a good eyeliner.

When I actually tried the liner on my eyes, I was so disappointed. The product was no where near as soft as expected, it was actually quite hard to use and dragged my skin. As well as that the depth of colour was terrible, I was really surprised how hard it was to get the colour to show up. I went over at least three times and the depth of colour was still a complete let down.

I still have the black kajal to try out, but I’m not getting my hopes up. If you compare the Maybelline advert at the top of this post to my photo above, it almost makes me think Maybelline is committing false advertising!! This product is not at all like what you see in the advertisement. I’ll stick to my Bourjois Clubbing EyelinerΒ in future!Β What do you think?

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried this product? xxx

Those are supposed to be the same colors? What a ripoff! I’d be ticked, to be honest.

Hmm I’d been wondering about these, They look so mega creamy and pigmented in the adverts, shame they aren’t!

You know what though, it does look quite nice on you! Those style of khols you need to use lengthways across the skin, you don’t use the point per say. I learned the hard way. I have to say though the ad did not entice me at all! Good luck with the black but I’ll be sticking with Khol that comes in pencil form lol xx

Haha, thank you for this review, it looks like two different products, with different density and consistency πŸ™ what a joke! But you have very pretty eyes!

The advert makes the eyeliner look wet and smooth to apply :/ will not be buying it that’s for sure x ABigBoldFashionStatement

Blimey that is a complete different shade of blue. I don’t blame you for being disappointed, the shade the model has is such a pretty blue, I would have been gutted if I had bought it and got what you got instead of the shade it advertises it as.
Then add the fact it broke AND was really hard to work with. πŸ™ Definitely not good at all.

I’m glad I read this review before going out and buying myself.

I really wanted to try this when I seen it advertised too! It looked like it had such bold pigmentation and a lovely finish. So disappointing it didn’t translate this way for you. πŸ™

Wow! The color is nothing like the color in the advert. It looks more periwinkle in your picture. I would be sorely disappointed too.

What a shame it looks really nice on the ad… not sure how you will sharpen this if you do decide to give it another go xx

Wow, those are nowhere near the same colours, certainly looks like a bit of false advertising there. On the plus side though, that does suit you.

It’s a shame when brands have to airbrush so much that we are left disappointed with products x

Even the actual eyeliner itself is nowhere near as pigmented as when it’s on her skin in the advert. Not sure how they thought they could get away with that!
