Today I thought I’d write a ‘Designer Spotlight’ post, I really like the idea of writing about some of my favourite designers so my plan is to hopefully make it a regular thing, maybe once a month?
So, first up we have Pamela Love. Pamela Love started making jewellery in her Brooklyn apartment in 2006. Since then, she has created a full production facility and design studio in Manhattan’s garment district.
‘The line is committed to sustainability and localized production. All gemstones and semiprecious stones are ethically sourced and almost all metal used is recycled. The entire jewelry-making process, from design to sampling to full-scale production, is completed domestically with the majority of it done in-house at Pamela Love’s Manhattan studio.’
‘Pamela Love’s creations are deeply spiritual and intuitive. She is heavily influenced by astronomy, astrology, alchemy, botany, the American Southwest and the architecture of her home, New York City. While her inspirations are steeped in American folklore, she also incorporates traditional tribal artisan patterns from North Africa, Mexican folk art, and medieval European iconography into her designs, resulting in her own immediately recognizable aura of modern urban mysticism.’
Take a look at her stunning SS13 collection, and below are some of my favourite current pieces which can be purchased from Avenue 32.
- Silver Quartz Arrowhead Cuff £475
- Silver Eagle Claw Earring £190
- Brass Pentagram Cuff £215
