La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar Solution | Review

Hi Guys!

Well it looks like I’m a bit late to the party with the old Micellar waters, I’ve been reading about them for a long time but have so many other skincare products to use up I haven’t had the need to buy one yet. Anyway I was definitely intrigued by them and when Chemist Direct asked me to review this La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar Solution I thought it would be a great opportunity to give one a go!

If you’re not in the know, micellar water is a fairly new product in the UK skin care market, it originated in France and has really taken off here in recent years. It’s basically a makeup remover with promises of gentle and thorough cleansing, it’s an all in one remover of makeup, impurities and anything else that might be on your skin.

I’m no skincare expert, but I know a cleanser is a MUST HAVE to anyones routine. It’s so important to cleanse the skin daily of your makeup and get rid of any dirt and impurities. I used to be a baby wipe kinda girl – just a quick swipe over the face and that’ll do it! How wrong was I! If you currently use wipes, why don’t you just put them to the test? Clean your face how you usually would with a wipe so you’re satisfied it’s clean. Then clean it again with a cleanser or micellar water, you’ll be surprised with the results! When I first did this I couldn’t believe how much makeup came off with the cleanser, after I thought my face was already perfectly clean.

Anyway back to the product! So to start with there are definitely more than a few plus points – it’s soap free, alcohol free, colourant free and paraben free. Also all La Roche-Posay products are tested on sensitive skin types too which is fantastic news if you’re a sensitive soul like me! As with all La Roche-Posay products it includes their very own thermal spa water, described as a truly active dermatological ingredient it is exceptionally rich in anti-oxidant Selenium. It has soothing, softening and anti-irritating properties and it is renowned for its dermatological efficacy. This all sounds good to me!

So what did I think of the product?

Well it has a light scent which is a great start, I’m not keen on strong scents in skincare products as I have sensitive skin and this is often an indication that I might have a reaction! I’ve been using this for the last couple of weeks or so and I’m really happy with the results! This has been removing my makeup fabulously with no problems. My face feels clean and cleansed afterwards – I was slightly concerned that I may need to cleanse with my usual cleanser after using this but there was really no need, there was no residue left on my skin and I was left completely free of makeup, this gets a big thumbs up from me!

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried this product and what your favourite micellar water is? xxx

I’ve only tried one Micellar Water (Superdrug’s own brand B. one) and I didn’t feel like it was enough for an only cleanse, I always prefer to double cleanse. Definitely better than just a makeup wipe, though!!
This sounds lovely, La Roche-Posay products don’t disappoint 🙂

I do love La Roche-Posay, but I just can’t seem to tear away from my cheaper waters!
