Fragrance: Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense
24 January, 2017Hi Guys!
There aren’t many things that excite me more than a new Jo Malone release – and today I have the brand new Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense to share with you…

At the top there is a hint of lavender and a floral note, creating a comforting and voluptuous opening. The big, rich heart and base note of Myrrh is sensual. And the Tonka brings generosity. It’s captivating and mesmerising’ – Mathilde Bijaoui, Master Perfumer.[/otw_shortcode_quote]Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense really is just as wonderful as I was expecting – and I think it may now be my favourite Jo Malone fragrance. It’s a warm, rich and creamy scent, that’s comforting yet sensual. I’m a complete sucker for Jo Malone’s Cologne Intense range, which are heavier, warmer and more of what you’d call an evening fragrance, compared to their standard colognes.
That said, Myrrh & Tonka is actually surprisingly wearable – I say that in the sense that this isn’t and overly heavy ‘evening’ scent. It’s not what I would call intoxicating, like some intense fragrances can be, but it’s just powerful enough to keep that sensual, enticing element which we know and love from Jo Malone.
Myrrh & Tonka opens with a top note of lavender – which I initially thought may not exactly be ‘my thing’ but boy was I wrong! The Lavender is sweet and slightly powdery, leading to a heart of Omumbiri Myrrh combined with rich accents of warm Almond, Vanilla and aromatic Tobacco of the Tonka Bean at the base – and it really is just the most beautiful note combination. Though initially the lavender makes it seem quite a feminine scent, after the dry down it’s actually very gender-neutral, and I can see both men and women easily falling in love with this fragrance.
- Top Note: Lavender
- Heart Note: Omumbiri Myrrh
- Base Note: Tonka
As expected, this scent is a lingerer, it lasts for hours and hours, and as the day goes on you’re left with a wonderful rich and creamy aroma, that’s both seductive and noticeable, whilst being luxuriously understated.
I’d describe Myrrh & Tonka as one of those rare fragrances that literally turns heads. It’s distinct and enticing, and I can guarantee that if you wear it, people around you will be asking about your perfume!
Myrrh & Tonka is a definite must-try for Jo Malone fans – both male and female – and if you’re a fan of combining your scents, it’s worth pairing it with Jo Malone’s classic Pomegranate Noir for a fruity element, or even Velvet Rose and Oud for a more floral take.
Myrrh & Tonka is £105 for 100ml, available now at Jo Malone, and there’s also a half-size 50ml bottle available too (which I think is new size as I haven’t seen any Cologne Intense fragrances available in 50ml before) which you can snap up for £74.00 here.
I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
