Myrica Muse is Miller Harris’ lastest fragrance launch; a fruity floral musk created by perfumer Emilie Bougé, designed to capture the essence of the aperitif. The idea was to create a fragrance that captured their muse in a particular moment –

“The development of Myrica Muse started in 2020 as a concept to create a fragrance that prioritised the enjoyment of wearing the scent. To create a fragrance that had a singular vision of the muse, captured in a moment. Adding to that, we envisaged not only what scent she would wear, but what book she would read, the drink she would have and the party she would be on her way to. This aperitif moment encapsulates that spirit of reflection, joy and a beautiful soul. I wanted to create a red fruit, warm fragrance that felt fun and joyful but with a serious spirit and reflection for the wearer. I worked with bayberry and with strawberry in the tops notes because I wanted the chance to re-set the perception of this sweet fruit as something more sophisticated. The bayberry (Myrica) is a has a tartness in character and once we explored felt appropriate. Setting this with bolder, timeless notes of rum and benzoin brought the retro charm and sophistication. The inclusion of a upcycled rose and patchouli was a clear moment we wanted for the brand as it goes on its evolution to ever improving its impact on the environment.” Emilie Bouge – PerfumerThe fragrance itself is a beautiful fruity floral, with a strong element of musk. It’s not overly sweet though, and I’d say quite unisex but slightly leaning on the feminine side. Myrica Muse opens with a fruity burst of myrica, juicy tangerine and fresh strawberry, with a hit of pink pepper. The heart includes upcycled rose and patchouli, blended with floral notes of jasmine and lily of the valley, with a healthy shot of rum for added depth. The dry down is smooth, musky and creamy, with sweet vanilla, amber, sandalwood and benzoin.
