Hello friends! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on TSNC, as so far this year I’ve been pretty unwell – I’d quite like a re-do to be honest! Unfortunately that’s not possible, but I do finally feel like things are starting to look up, so I thought I’d share with you one of my best fragrance discoveries of late.

For Christmas last year I was lucky enough to persuade my husband that Bond No. 9 TriBeCa was the only gift I needed and that it would make my life complete – I was very lucky to receive it – and he ended up getting a really good deal too!

I’ve been wearing this more than any other fragrance this year, so I thought I’d share my thoughts with you today –I must admit, I’ve been into perfumes for years now, but the Bond No. 9 brand had never really been on my radar just because I’m not a fan of the packaging. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but my aversion for the colourful star shaped bottles, plus the high price point made me just not bother researching their fragrances to begin with. However, I had heard people raving about TriBeCa in some online fragrance groups, so I looked it up, and after seeing people were comparing it to Baccarat Rouge 540 (another one of my favourite scents) I thought I’d give it a go when the occasion arose.

As some of you may know I live in the countryside, and therefore unfortunately I have very little opportunity to test fragrances locally. So I was incredibly excited to stop at Harrods whilst visiting London, where I made a direct bee-line to the Bond No. 9 counter – and of course fell in love with TriBeCa.If you aren’t familiar with the brand, Bond No.9 hails from New York, and their scents as a collection, are a celebration of the spirit of the city. Tribeca is a trendy neighbourhood in lower Manhattan, with the name being an abbreviation of Triangle Below Canal Street.

What does TriBeCa Smell like?

TriBeCa is sweet and floral, opening with wonderfully delicious notes of green hazelnut and cacao, the heart includes a blend of heady jasmine sambac and cedarwood, with a dry down of creamy caramel, ambroxan and moss.

This fragrance is described as sophisticated, androgynous, sensual and young – and I would definitely agree. TriBeCa is tantalisingly sweet, creamy and nutty. It has the sugared airiness of BR540, but the deliciously edible gourmand notes in Tribeca really give it that extra something special. I can’t get enough of it!

Does TriBeCa smell like BR540?

To me, yes, but also no. Strangely enough, there’s actually pretty much no similarities in the fragrance notes between TriBeCa and BR540, except for jasmine – but there is definitely a distinctive hint of Baccarat Rouge 540 in TriBeCa, mostly in the opening. It’s not the same fragrance by any means, but they’re definitely distant cousins. If you love BR540, and sweet, gourmand scents, I think TriBeCa is different enough that both bottles would deserve a place in your fragrance collection. In my opinion TriBeCa is one of the best fragrances I’ve tried in a long time.
