Today, I have the beautiful Tropical Birds fragrance collection from the house of Granado to share with you.
If you’re not familiar with Granado, the historical Brazilian brand was founded by Portuguese José Coxito Granado in Rio de Janeiro in 1870. The brand used extracts of herbs and plants grown on José’s own farm to create their fragrances, and Granado was recognised for their excellence with the title of ‘Official Pharmacy of the Imperial Family of Brazil’. The brand has been passed down through generations and is now deemed an important part of Brazilian heritage.
The Tropical Birds collection is a set of 5x10ml Granado fragrances that are inspired by Brazilian fauna and flora. The packaging has a beautifully vibrant botanical style print, representing the fragrances inside.
‘Sophisticated and timeless, the Perfume Collection carries Granado’s DNA and take us on a journey through the century-old history of Granado and Rio de Janeiro. Each perfume takes us to a chapter of this trajectory, awakening memories and paying tribute to the history of the brand through fine perfumery, discovering a new chapter with each olfactory note.’
Jardim Real
‘Jardim Real exalts the freshness of the flowers and transports us to the exuberant parks and gardens of Rio de Janeiro in the 19th century. A union between the citric and effervescent naturalness of the notes of bergamot and mandarin, with the romantic delicacy of the flowers, highlighting the orange blossom as the protagonist of the creation. The classic woody background of sandalwood and patchouli add the final touch of sophistication and versatility’
This fragrance is a flower bomb! It’s fresh, floral and zesty, with distinct notes of jasmine and magnolia. Jardin Real takes me to a sun-drenched flower garden in full bloom – beautiful!
- Top Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin & Pink Pepper
- Heart Notes: Orange Blossom, Jasmine Sambac & Magnolia

Nostalgia
‘Nostalgia represents the past, present and future of Granado in a creation that balances tradition and contemporaneity. The citrusy and spicy top notes give way to an enveloping and elegant floral body of white flowers and roses. The notes are enveloped by the woody, soft and comfortable structure of cashmere, amber and musk . A fragrance that awakens nostalgia and creates new memories’

Infusão Botânica
‘Infusão Botânica has an unusual and intriguing freshness. Its spicy and aromatic notes give the creation a lot of personality and transform it into an invigorating fragrance, which connects with nature through its natural ingredients. The comfortable background is due to the woody notes of cashmere and vetiver. It’s the perfect balance between freshness and comfort!’

Imperial
‘Imperial takes us back to Rio de Janeiro at the end of the 19th century. Its casual freshness and luxurious comfort extol the vintage authenticity of the late 1800s, combined with the fresh, transparent modernity of the 21st century. A fresh, light and elegant fragrance, which results in an intriguing duality between Brazilianness and Portuguese influence.’
This is a wonderfully fresh and elegant, floral fragrance. I’m a big fan of tea notes, and in Imperial, the white tea gives a soft, roundness to the scent, without compromising on the freshness. Imperial is a really pretty fragrance.
- Top Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin & White Tea
- Heart Notes: Magnolia, Rose & Lily of the Valley
- Base Notes: Sandalwood, Maté & Musk
Époque Tropical
‘Époque Tropical represents the unique union of classic French perfumery with Brazilian irreverence. Its striking perfume explores the enveloping side of the woody notes of sandalwood and guaiac and balances this intensity with the intense citrus of mandarin and cashew. This duality is enveloped by a classic floral bouquet of magnolia, rose and geranium. It is a fragrance that transports us to a walk through the gardens of Rio in the 19th century.’
This is one for the sandalwood lovers. Époque Tropical is a floral woody fragrance, fairly similar to Le Labo Santal 33, with notes of juicy mandarin, nutty cashew guaiac wood and sandalwood.
