Billie Eilish Perfume: Which Is The Best? Eilish 1 vs Eilish 2

Billie Eilish’s perfume launch was one of the most anticipated of 2021. With the launch of the original Eilish fragrance being a massive success, Billie then followed up with Eilish No2 launching in 2022. I’m a bit late to the game but I finally have both fragrances to test and review!
Starting with the bottle, the design is definitely striking and stands out amongst a plethora of repetitive perfume bottles. Inspired by Billie’s favourite parts of the body – the chest, neck and collarbone. The Eilish bottle reminds me of something from the 80’s, I can’t think if it’s some sort of image, artwork or what it is (google isn’t helping) but it is of course, modelled on Billie’s own body.
The fragrance itself is an amber gourmand scent, it’s super sweet, warm and inviting. Eilish opens with the sweetest notes of sugared petals, mandarin and red berries. I don’t really pick up the mandarin here, the opening to me is sugary sweet vanilla with a hint of berries. The heart includes more of that sweet, creamy vanilla note, as well as soft spices and rich cocoa. I also feel like there’s caramel in there though this isn’t on the notes list. The base includes notes of warm musks, tonka bean, and sleek woods.
To me, Eilish is a deep, rich vanilla fragrance. It’s fairy heavy, and definitely more of a cooler weather scent, but it’s still not cloying. It gives a lovely warm and comforting feeling. I do enjoy this scent, and it’s a great option if you’re looking for a more affordable vanilla, but I feel it’s just missing that little something that would take it to another level. This is a very safe vanilla fragrance, and it gives a youthful vibe – a great first fragrance launch, and perfect for Billie’s target audience.

Eilish No. 2, however, takes on a darker, more mysterious feel –
“I really liked the idea of a darker, rainy world for Eilish No. 2. We started with the original ‘Eilish’ elements of warmth and sweetness, but then added spicy and woodsy elements for a more sultry, and wet feeling” – Billie Eilish
Described as a sultry, woody floral, Eilish No. 2 opens with bright and refreshing bergamot and apple blossom. This fragrance is warm yet fresh, it’s softly spicy, woody and slightly smoky. The heart includes notes of earthy papyrus, spicy black pepper and wild poppy flowers, leading to a base of woody palo santo, ebony and aromatic musk. The dry down sweetens slightly as times goes on, and the result is a wonderfully complex, dark, sultry and intense fragrance.
Eilish No.2 is much more of a unisex fragrance than the original scent, and it definitely feels more adventurous and exploratory. I love how it balances and contrasts warm spices and woods with fresher notes, florals and a hint of smoke.
But saying that, there is a definitely underlying similarity between the two fragrances, though there’s nothing in the listed notes that are similar. I was actually expecting Eilish 2 to be more different compared to the original. The fragrances are definitely ying and yang, but you can still tell they are related. I’ve really been enjoying Eilish 2, it feels to me like the more luxurious, grown up cousin to the original Eilish fragrance.
Comparing the fragrances, I enjoy them both but you can probably guess that Eilish No.2 is my favourite, it feels more sophisticated and more thought out than the original Eilish scent. Both are fantastic fragrances in their own right and will appeal to different audiences, but Eilish 2 is definitely the one for me.
