Following the successful launch of Flora Gorgeous Gardenia in 2021, Gucci have continued releasing flankers for their best-selling line every year since, currently resulting in a rainbow of four Gucci Flora fragrances. But which is the best one? Today, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on each of these scents – enjoy!

Let’s start with the first Gucci Flora fragrance – Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia (2021) – Floral – Sweet – Gardenia

The original Gucci Flora fragrance, Gorgeous Gardenia, created quite a stir when it first launched. Excited by a brand new fragrance line from Gucci, the detailed, colourful packaging, and of course, the campaign fronted by Miley Cyrus in a candy pink world of flowers and fluffy animals, Gorgeous Gardenia became an instant bestseller. This is a fragrance that ticks so many boxes, it’s pretty, feminine, easy to wear, and has a real mass appeal.

The scent itself is built around the gardenia flower. Opening with top notes of pear blossom accord, mandarin and red berries, this fragrance is instantly sweet and fresh, with a slight tartness that works really well. The heart features a floral bouquet of white gardenia, jasmine absolute and frangipani flower, giving the scent a beautiful solar luminosity – these florals aren’t heavy in any way. And the base includes patchouli and a brown sugar accord, for a warm and sweet dry down. This is very much a feminine fragrance that feels free-spirited, bright and youthful.

Next up is Gucci Flora Gorgeous Jasmine (2022) – Rich – Sensual – Jasmine

The perfect follow up to Gorgeous Gardenia, Gorgeous Jasmine is of course based around the jasmine flower, opening with sweet and juicy mandarin essence, the scent is instantly bright and joyful, yet still very smooth and rich with the intense jasmine coming through straight away. There’s also magnolia and rose in the heart, which supports the jasmine nicely. I love how intense the jasmine is in this scent, it’s really at the forefront of the fragrance the whole way through, and definitely makes a statement! The base features notes of sandalwood, benzoin and patchouli, giving a touch of sweet woodiness to the dry down. Overall this fragrance feels incredibly rich and sumptuous with the heady jasmine, I love it!

Next we have Gucci Flora Gorgeous Magnolia (2023) – Ethereal – Sensual – Magnolia

The third fragrance in the Gucci Flora series is Gorgeous Magnolia. I think this is probably my favourite out of the collection. Opening with notes of dewberry accord, sweet orange essence and coconut accord, the scent feels sweet, smooth and warm, and just really addictive from the get-go. I love how the juicy fruitiness of the dewberries and orange is somewhat subdued yet also enhanced by the sweet, creamy coconut – these notes work so well together. The heart features floral notes of magnolia essence, jasmine sambac absolute, lily of the valley and ylang ylang essence. The florals here are blended together really beautifully to give a delicate, feminine aroma. These florals act very much as supporting notes in the background, resulting in the scent feeling incredibly delicate and nuanced. In the base you’ll find patchouli essence, musks and blond woods, leaving you with a wonderfully warm and sweet, woody trail. This is a scent that feels ethereally beautiful, radiant and just so pretty, I can’t get enough of this one!

• Base notes: Patchouli essence, Musks, Blond woods​

And finally Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid (2024) – Airy – Luminous – Vanilla.

Described as an ozonic floral gourmand, the latest launch in the Gucci Flora collection I feel is quite different to the previous three. On first spray this one feels more light and airy than the previous launches, definitely ozonic, but still very pretty. This fragrance includes only three notes – vanilla duo, vanilla orchid and ozonic notes. You would be forgiven for thinking this might be quite an intense and rich scent with the combination of multiple vanillas, but the vanilla here is beautifully transparent, floating in the air like a butterfly, it’s delicate, feminine and really rather lovely. Overall this is a scent that’s airy and luminous, but still substantial, and there’s a lovely warm gourmand creaminess in the background of the fragrance tying it all together – this one really is very pretty.

Overall I think the Gucci Floral range is a fantastic designer collection. The scents are all quite different, but still feel like they’re related. I’ve been enjoying wearing every one of these scents, though I’ve mostly found myself gravitating towards Gorgeous Magnolia. Do you have a favourite Gucci Flora fragrance?
