Beauty: The Universal Makeup Beauty Box #POWEREDBYFEELUNIQUE

Posted on October 5, 2017

Hi Guys!

I must admit a while ago I thought beauty boxes had had their day. There seemed to be lots of products being regurgitated time and time again, and I think BB fans were getting a bit bored. Well how wrong was I! (Though I still think that was true in terms of repeated products) – but beauty boxes are now more popular than ever, and I can’t keep up with how many new ones have popped up, even over the last 6 months.

One of the newer offerings is from FeelUnique, who have just launched a trio of carefully curated Beauty Boxes and On-the-Go Kits. These special edits have been hand selected in-house by their beauty experts, and given their Powered by Feelunique stamp of approval…

Feelunique Best of Beauty boxes are designed to take the hard work out of finding game-changing beauty at amazing vale. Each edit contains expert selected beauty products all packaged up into one beauty box. Kicking off with Universal Makeup, Powered by Feelunique will launch more exciting boxes over the coming months.

I’ve checked the FeelUnique site and at the moment there are three different beauty box options available –

The Universal Makeup Beauty Box, which is what I have, includes a specially selected range of makeup products from some of FeelUnique’s favourite brands. The Skin Glow Edit Box, which includes everything you need for radiant, glowing skin. Each box contains deluxe or full size products, plus leaflet with tips & advice on how best to use them, as well as a Discount Code to get 10% off these products on your next purchase. And the Nichola Joss Beauty Box – Nichola Joss is a celebrity facialist as well as Feelunique’s very own Skincare Ambassador. Her box contains a curated selection of skincare essentials, including everything you need for a healthy and glowing complexion.

The Universal Makeup Beauty Box contains a fantastic selection of makeup, from both well known brands as well as a couple of lesser-known ones too (which I think is great as I love discovering new brands in beauty boxes) Included are four full size products and two travel sizes –

I was particularly happy to find the Nude By Nature Translucent Finishing Powder in the box, this is a really underrated brand that should definitely get more love! The Laura Geller Spackle Primer is a classic product that every beauty love should own, and Pro Hygiene Collection is a brand that I hadn’t heard of, so I’m looking forward to trying out their Makeup Spray.

I make out the box to roughly be worth £72.91, so with it costing only £28.00 and including four full sized products, I think this a really good deal.

The FeelUnique Universal Makeup Beauty Box is £28.00 and available at FeelUnique now.

My Ultimate Beauty Icon: Alexa Chung #HoFBeautyAmbassador

Posted on June 25, 2015

alexa

Hi Guys!

Today I’m talking about beauty icons – do you know who yours would be? When I think of who inspires me in terms of beauty, I instantly think of The Queen of the Cat Eye, Alexa Chung! There’s plenty of celebrities who’s beauty style I love and inspire me, but Alexa just has that effortlessly beautiful look… fresh clean skin, a nude lip and of course a cat eye flick – what more does a girl need!?

Eyeliner is ‘my thing’ and the main part of Alexa’s signature look – I think this is why she appeals so much to me. She always looks beautiful and has that I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-but-still-look-amazing look going on, like she’s not even trying. With those tousled beachy waves, her casual boho style and flawless skin. I’d quite happily live a day in her shoes!

alexapics_edited-2

Ok so I’ve put together a little Alexa checklist for my look! This is what I need to accomplish –

  1. Flawless yet dewy, youthful looking skin.
  2. Neutral eyelids with a slight shimmer.
  3. The blackest black, super sharp eyeliner.
  4. Nude coloured matte or satin finish lips.

Let’s do this!

alexa-look-products

I love that her beauty look is easy to achieve for everyone – with either high end or budget beauty products, there’s a way anyone and everyone can create this on themselves!

And these are the products I chose to create the look:

  • Chanel Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Foundation in Clair – This is one of my long-time favourite foundations, it works amazingly well on my skin which tends to be dry, and it has the perfect formula to give skin a luminous, glowing finish.
  • Seventeen Phwoarr Paint in Fair – I use this to cover redness, blemishes and my ever impressive under eye bags. This is easily the best high street concealer I’ve come across for coverage.
  • MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo in Force of Nature – This is such a beautiful shimmer duo. I used the lightest shade only for a wash of colour across the lids.
  • Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner Pen in Black – If you’re not a fan of traditional liquid eyeliners, this pen style liner is the perfect alternative to create a sharp line.
  • Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Mascara in Black – This is one of my favourite budget mascaras, it works really well on my short lashes giving both volume and length.
  • Chella Brow Pencil in Light Brown – I love this twist up style pencil, it has a super fine tip which is perfect for drawing in fine hairs.
  • Carmex Lip Balm – When using a matte lipstick, always prep lips first so they’re in top condition before application. Carmex is a fab budget balm.
  • Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 03 – I love a nude lip with a statement eye, and this shade is just perfect! 03 is a matte nude pink toned beige, it’s not too brown or yellow and really goes well with my complexion.

alexa-eye-makeup

Rather than show you my whole face, I thought a zoomed in eye would be fun! I really love the Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner Pen, it’s perfect for creating an intense black sharp flick, and it’s super affordable too. If you’re looking for a softer look though, try a pencil eyeliner which can easily be blended or smudged.

I should probably mention now that this blog post is actually a competition entry! So I really hope you like it!? I was SO excited when I heard House of Fraser were looking to find a Beauty Ambassador, and I don’t usually enter blog competitions but I really would love to win this so so much, I though it was definitely worth a shot!

So what’s it all about? Basically House of Fraser are looking for a beauty blogger to become their Beauty Ambassador for the next 12 months. The Ambassadorship includes being a brand advocate, as well as £1000 of makeup, exclusive samples, invites and more. If you’re a beauty junkie like me, this really is beyond exciting!!

This would literally make my year, I love the fantastic beauty range that House of Fraser offer – I can’t not visit when I’m shopping in Norwich! So please do comment and share, and let me know what your think of this look! I’d love to hear if you’re a fan of Alexa? And who your beauty icon is?

The Weekly Top 5 #9 (Plus Exciting News!)

Posted on June 7, 2015

the-weekly-top-5-no-9new

Hi Guys!

It’s been a pretty crazy week for me, I was going to save this for a separate post but there’s no time like the present hey! Basically I was made redundant, which was pretty weird as I’d been at my job for nearly seven years, but it isn’t actually a bad thing because now I can blog full time! I also freelance in blogger outreach and social media management, so hopefully I’ll be able to do more of that too. It’s pretty scary being 100% self employed (rather than self employed and employed at the same time as I was before) but I think this is the push I needed to take things to the next level with my blog. I’m looking forward to working harder and dedicating more time to writing. Exciting times!! So basically this week I’ve been chilling out and having a much needed rest, tidying the house and getting used to my new found freedom!

I’ve been making good use of my Personal Planner Blog Planner, getting posts planned and scheduled in, making notes of things I need to remember and generally getting myself up to date with things. If you’re thinking about buying a blog planner you should definitely check this site out, I love that you can completely customise your planner so it suits your needs, as well as choosing your front cover, and they also come in a variety of sizes to suit everyone.

The sun has most definitely had his hat on this week, I’ve been having a great time playing with Fred and making the most of the weather. My ASOS Fine Frame Cat Eye Sunglasses With Flash Lens (£10.00) have been on my face all week, I LOVE these sunnies! You can’t see from the picture but they have asweome coloured mirror shine lenses.

I flirt constantly with coloured eyeliner, but found myself recently in a CBA mood and not wearing any makeup at all, I’ve been basically in a complete funk, but now (maybe because I’m ‘free’?) I’ve been feeling pretty awesome and starting busting out my trusty Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner in Bleu Neon (£4.99) This is the most amazing electric blue eyeliner – everyone should own one.

This week I’ve found myself wearing a rather interesting scent – Eau Des Minimes Cologne (£19.00) This unisex scent really matches the current weather, it includes fresh sparkling citrus notes of lemon, blood orange and grapefruit, as well as seven plants chosen for their beneficial properties. This fragrance gives a feeling of freshness and wellbeing, boosting your mood and energising the skin.

And lastly I had a surprise package arrive from Neve Cosmetics, their brand new Yumtint Lip Balm (£TBC) This sweet little twist up balm hydrates while intensifying the colour of the lips with a pretty and easy to wear strawberry tint. Something about the packaging and the light strawberry scent reminds me of children’s makeup, you know the lip and nail ‘tints’ for little ones? This may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love the burst of nostalgia! This will be available from June 10th.

I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to this week? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

My Top 5 Budget Beauty Products Under £10.00

Posted on May 27, 2015

5-products-under-10-pounds

Hi Guys!

As you probably know by now, I do feature quite a lot of high end brands – and I should admit I’m a complete sucker for a fancy brand with pretty packaging. But what about high street cosmetics? There’s actually quite a few high street products that I use on a regular basis, so with that in mind I decided to rummage through my makeup bag and pick out my top 5 budget beauty buys under £10.00!

5-products-under-10-pounds-2

1. Seventeen Phwoarr Paint (£5.49) After using up my beloved Benefit Boi-ing Concealer which I feel like I’ve had for a lifetime, rather than forking out £17.50 for a new one, I asked the good people of Twitter for their recommendations for a budget alternative, and Seventeen’s Phwoarr Paint was suggested. At almost a third of the price of Benefit, I thought this was definitely worth a try, and it really is fantastic! This is a great highly pigmented creamy concealer that’s perfect for covering under eye dark circles – which is what I mostly use it for.

2. Sleek True Colour Lipsticks (£4.99) Sleek are officially my favourite budget lipstick brand, with my go-to shade being Liqueur, which is the perfect every day nude shade. I also love their fantastic selection of brights. The creamy yet highly pigmented finish is a fantastic dupe for MAC’s Amplified lipsticks, and at only £4.99 for a lippie, you’d be mad not to try them out!

3. Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliner (£4.99) I can’t live without eyeliner, and I’ve tried a fair few in my time. I always end up going back to my trusty Contour Clubbing pencils though. My long-term favourite has to be Bleu Neon, an intense electric blue shade. I love that Bourjois have introduced a mass of different shades including blues, greens, purples and even a pink so you can experiment with eyeliner looks without breaking the bank.

4. Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette (£6.99) Makeup Revolution have really upped their game with their new Iconic 1 & 2 Eyeshadow Palettes, they have an updated and much improved eyeshadow formula which is just fantastic, and I’ve found myself going back to my Iconic 2 Palette time and time again. This palette contains the perfect selection of shades to take you from day to night, as well as a large mirror and ‘Pro‘ double ended brush for easy application. These eyeshadows are amazingly well pigmented as well as being easy to apply and blend.

5. Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara (£9.99) Yes another Bourjois product! Their relatively new 1 Seconde Mascara is surprisingly one of my favourite mascaras – I say surprisingly because I usually shy away from large mascara wands as my lashes are super short so I often end up making a mess! I love the formula of 1 Seconde though, it does wonders for my stumpy lashes giving length as well as volume, and long lasting curl. This will definitely be re-purchased once it runs out!

I hope you enjoyed my post! I’d love to hear what your favourite budget beauty buys are? xxx

10 Lip Products To Try This Spring

Posted on May 19, 2015

ten-lip-products-to-try

Hi Guys!

I thought it was about time I gave you the lowdown on some gorgeous new lip products I’ve been trying out lately. I’ve actually put together a mixture of new releases as well as slightly older favourites here, included balms, glosses and lipsticks. There should be something here to suit all budgets, tastes and styles. Enjoy!

clarins-Instant-Light-Natural-Lip-Balm-Perfector

So let’s start with the balms! Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm Perfector in 03 My Pink (£18.00) is the product that I’ve been using the most this week. I’ve been loving this so much since it arrived – this is a hydrating lip balm that gives a beautiful soft iridescence to the lips. I also love the casing on this balm, it’s weighty and feels expensive and well made. This is definitely a makeup bag staple for me.

sleek-pout-polish-lip-balm-review

If you don’t fancy splashing the cash this Sleek Pout Polish Lip Balm in 962 Frosting (£4.49) is a fantastic budget alternative. I love Sleek for lip products an this handy little pot acts as a balm as well as giving a tint of colour to the lips. Frosting is a gorgeous barbie pink shade which I love!

bourjois-aqua-laque-review

Then we have Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque Liquid Lipstick in 08 Babe Idole (£8.99) This is somewhere between a gloss and a balm in terms of how it feels on the lips. I’m in love with the new Aqua Laque formula, it’s super silky and smooth feeling, giving a dose of hydration as well as a decent pop of colour. It’s not the longest lasting product but it really does soften your lips – mine are usually dry, which is why I love this so much.

lancome-lip-lover-review

If you fancy trying out a new gloss, I highly recommend trying Lancome Lip Lover in 337 (£18.50) This is easily one of the best glosses I’ve ever used. It’s completely non-sticky, it feels silky and smooth and lasts longer than expected before you need to re-apply. The packaging is also rather special, you have to click a button to make the wand pop up, I love it!

too-faced-melted-metal-review

Moving on to the lipsticks, Too Faced Melted Metal Liquid Lipstick in Melted Metallic Tutu (£15) is fantastic if you’re looking for something a little different. I’m a big fan of the original Melted Lipsticks so I couldn’t wait to try out the new Melted Metals range. There are eight shades available and I have Tutu, which is a beautiful bright pink / coral shade. It has an amazing high shimmer, almost pearlised finish and lasts for a good few hours before you need to re-apply.

lancome-le-rouge-absolue-review

Every girl should own a red lipstick, and Lancome L’ Absoulu Rouge in 132 Caprice (£23.50) really is the most beautiful true red. It has a luxuriously creamy formula that’s long lasting and comfortable to wear, and because it’s a ‘true’ red (i.e. not pink or orange toned) it should suit all skin tones. The packaging is also super luxurious with a magnetic lid – I love the feel and click of a magnetic lid closing!

sleek-lipstick-review

If you’re a fan of intense lip shades, you should definitely check out Sleek True colour Lipstick in 773 Candy Cane (£4.99) Sleek is easily my favourite budget brand for lipsticks, and they have some gorgeous bright colours available that are perfect for summer. Candy Cane is an intense coral / red shade that’s definitely not for the faint hearted. The formula is spot on too, it’s creamy, easy to apply and lasts!

rmk-lipstick-review

For those that prefer a more subtle lip, RMK Irresistible Lips B lipstick in 02 (£19.00) would be the perfect choice. I’ve only recently started trying out RMK products and I’m loving everything I’ve managed to get my hands on so far! This Irresistble Lipstick is perfect for every day wear, giving a sheer slick of colour that feels creamy and hydrating.

laura-mercier-lip-paint-review

The Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Golden Peach (£22.00) has to be the most interesting product out of the bunch. This Paint Wash Lip colour actually feels (and this shade looks) more like a highlighter that a gloss! It has a high pigmented high shimmer finish that really is something special, and it feels amazingly silky to apply. I don’t actually think I’ve seen a lip product like this before!

bourjois-lip-crayon-review

And lastly the Bourjois ColorBoost Lip Crayon in 07 Proudly Naked (£7.99). Another winner from Bourjois, this Lip Crayon is another great product for every day wear, giving a sheer veil of colour and a satiny shine.

So there we have it! I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Makeup Bag Update – A Spring Beauty Look

Posted on April 23, 2015

spring-beauty-look-products

Hi Guys!

It seems like forever since I last did a makeup look on the blog, and I thought you lovely lot might have forgotten what I actually look like so I decided to put together a nice fresh spring look using some new products I’ve just started trying out. I thought this would give me a great chance to review them whilst putting my look together 🙂

Here’s what I’ve been using –

  • SUQQU Blend Colour Eyeshadow Palette, £45 from Selfridges
  • RMK Vintage Candy Cheeks in 01, £20 from Selfridges
  • RMK Vintage Drop Gloss in 01, £14 from Selfridges
  • Laura Mercier Silk Crème Photo Edition Foundation in Ivory, £35 from Selfridges
  • Butter London Cheeky Tinted Highlighter in Twit, £20 from Butter London
  • Rodial Instaglam Deluxe Contouring Powder, £52 from Rodial
  • Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation in Fair, £28 from Debenhams
  • MAC MSF Duo in Jolly Good (from The Osbournes collection, no longer available)
  • Bourjois Stylo Eyeliner Pencil in Noir, £5.99 from Boots

spring-beauty-look

So here I am! And I’m pretty pleased with how this look turned out – natural yet glowing I think! Starting with the base I went primer free for a change and just used the Laura Mercier Silk Crème Photo Edition Foundation in Ivory, this shade is slightly on the yellow side for my skin tone, but it actually looked great once I’d blended it in! Luckily my skin is in pretty good nick at the moment, I have to say wouldn’t recommend this foundation if you have dry skin – it’s one of those foundations that look great on normal skin, but will definitely highlight any dry areas if you have them. It gave fantastic coverage though and I’d highly recommend it if you’re on the hunt for a decent foundation.

I set my foundation with the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation in Fair, which is fantastic as a foundation and a setting powder. It’s really well pigmented and it didn’t make my skin feel dry. I then contoured lightly with my current favourite contouring product, the Rodial Instaglam Deluxe Contouring Powder – this stuff is fantastic if you have a fair complexion like I do, as you physically can’t go too heavy with it. I then used the Butter London Cheeky Tinted Highlighter in Twit and RMK Vintage Candy Cheeks in 02 Candy Rose to highlight and give my cheeks a bit of colour. Twit is a gorgeous bronzy gold which will look fabulous on tanned skins – I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of it this summer. I then finished my face with my trusty MAC MSF Duo in Jolly Good  to give my complexion an all over lovely glow.

For the eyes I went with the SUQQU Blend Colour Eyeshadow Palette (see close up below) I love this palette, the colours are just stunning (please see below for rant about how much I love this palette!). I also used my Bourjois Stylo Eyeliner Pencil in Noir, which is a really nice soft black shade, it’s not intensely black so it’s perfect for a not-so-heavy day look. I finished off my eyes with some false lashes because my natural lashes are super short – but I have no idea which they are I’m afraid. They’re likely to be by Eyelure ones but I’m not sure which set exactly as they weren’t in their original packet.

I finished off the look with the RMK Vintage Drop Lip Gloss in 01, apart from looking super cute, this gloss gives a fabulous high shine yet non-sticky finish. It’s also really hydrating which is a bonus if your lips tend to be dry like mine are.

eyes

I thought I’d include a close up of my eyes just so I can tell you how much I am IN LOVE with the SUQQU palette, seriously the colours are just stunning. Can I say it’s like having a sunset on your eyelids?? Well that’s how I’m going to describe them. The shades are gorgeous, and the formula is also fantastic and was just so easy to work with and blend. The SUQQU palette easily gets top marks from me. (Also please ignore my eyebrows, I know they need some work!)

At this point I was going to go through and tell you which of these products I’ll be adding to my makeup bag, but I actually love all of them so I’m basically going to have a massive makeup bag overhaul!

I’d love to hear what you think? Or if you’ve tried any of these products? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

NEW Beauty Releases from Bourjois!

Posted on April 15, 2015

bourjois-new-releases

bourjois-products-review

Hi Guys!

I’ve got some fantastic new products from one of my favourite brands to show you today – Bourjois! I’ve been a massive fan of their products ever since I can remember. Thinking back, I’m pretty sure my first ever purchase was the Coupe De Theatre Mascara if I remember rightly, which would have been around 2002 at a guess. Do you remember it? It was double ended, with one white end that thickened up your lashes, and the black end to coat them in black mascara, it was amazing! Since then Bourjois have been my go-to eyeliner brand, and they just keep coming up with fantastic products! I have the new Aqua Laque Liquid Lipsticks, La Laque Nail Polishes and some not quite as new eyeliners to show you today…

bourjois-aqua-laque-review

Less than a year ago you may remember Bourjois released their Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipsticks, I have a couple of these and they’re fab for a day to day lip if you’re looking for a matte finish. Their latest edition to the Rouge Edition line are the new Aqua Laque Liquid Lipsticks (£8.99), these have been formulated to give a mirror like shine with intense colour, as well as being intensely hydrating for up to 10 hours. They have a non sticky finish and also promise not to run or feather into the edges of your lips, so there’s no need for a lip liner. They come in eight shades from easy to wear nudes to bright reds, and they sound pretty fantastic!

bourjois-aqua-laque-swatches

The shades above from left to right are – 01 Appechissant, 08 Babe Idole, 07 Fuchsia Perche, and 06 Feeling Reddy.

You can see they’re super glossy, I’d actually say they look and feel more like a highly pigmented gloss than a lipstick. The formula is really silky feeling and hydrating on the lips – this definitely gets top marks from me, but the colour doesn’t seem to last too long though, so you will need to keep reapplying these throughout the day. Even though the staying power isn’t amazing, I still really like these products, I love the way they make my lips feel and the shade selection is just gorgeous too.

bourjois-la-laque-nail-polishes

Next up we have the The La Laque Nail Polishes (£6.49). The shades above from left to right are 11 Only Bluuuue, 2 Chair et Tendre, 6 Fuchsiao Bella, and 1 White Spirit.

The La Laque collection combines brilliant colour and concentrated enamel pigments to give full coverage and shine from the first coat. Apart from the newly shaped bottles, these polishes also come with a precision brush for accurate application with only one swipe to cover the nail, and a no-drip stem to prevent mistakes and mess.

I am in love with these polishes! The brighter colours are right up my street, and just perfect for the coming summer months. Also, the precision brush really does work, you only need one swipe and you’re done! The pigmentation is just fantastic, there’s nothing sheer or watery about these polishes at all. I’ll definitely be getting some use out of these in the coming months!

bourjois-eyeliners

And finally I wanted to also include some of their newer eyeliners too. These aren’t brand new like the above products but they are fairly new so I just wanted to share them with you. Bourjois eyeliners are (I’m my opinion) some of the best on the high street, and they’re really well priced too. I usually go for the Contour Clubbing pencil eyeliners, but I’ve recently been trying out a few other their other styles –

  • The Liner Pinceau Ultra Black Liquid Eyeliner (£6.99) is the most intensely pigmented out of the three above, I’m not usually a fan of liquid liners but this one really is excellent, apart from the fact that it’s the blackest black, you can easily get a really fine line with the thin and flexible brush.
  • The Liner Stylo Ultra Black Eyeliner (£5.99) is clearly not the most pigmented eyeliner ever, but I find this great for an every day look where you want a black liner that’s not too intense.
  • And lastly the Ultra Black Mega Liner (£7.49) This is my favourite of the three, it has a calligraphy pen style tip, so you can easily get a very fine line or a thicker line, and I just find this so easy to use. I’m a big fan of the pen style, and it’s also a really intense black shade, perfect for creating a nice big flick!

bourjois-colorband-eyeshadow-and-liner-review

Hi Guys!

I was so excited last week to receive an unexpected parcel, inside was a pretty mesh bag containing the latest gorgeous offerings from one of my favourite makeup brands – Bourjois!

I thought I’d start off by showing you Bourjois’ new Colorband 2-in-1 Eyeshadow and Liner chunky pencils. They come in six lovely shades, and I have four of them –

  • Noir Abstrait (black)
  • Beige Minimal (champagne gold)
  • Mauve (Metallic mauve)
  • Grid Graffiti (Metallic grey)

The Colorband 2-in-1 Eyeshadow and Liners offer high pigmented colour that apparently lasts for an impressive 24 hours. Personally I’m not sure who would wear makeup for a whole 24 hours, but I definitely believe Bourjois when they say this stuff is super long lasting. The below arm swatches WOULD NOT COME OFF. I rubbed my arm till it was going red (admittedly I wasn’t at home so I was just using a baby wipe!) and there were still visible faint marks. This is kind of a good thing but if you’re wanting to try the darker shades of these pencils I’d highly recommend you have an awesome eye makeup remover at hand!

Anyway! These pencils really are beautiful. Apart from the stunning colour pallet, which has Spring written all over it, Bourjois have included some easy to wear shades such as Beige Minimal, a gorgeous shimmery champagne gold – which looks fantastic on blue eyes, and Mauve, which is almost a shimmery muted rose, it’s so pretty!

If you’d prefer a more intense look, Bourjois have thrown in a metallic grey shade, and the deepest blackest black you could ever ask for. As I said, the black shade is still clearly on my arm from where I swatched it (the mark of a beauty blogger!) but I haven’t tried this one on my eyes yet – I’ll be honest, I am a bit scared!! At this point I should also tell you, that out of everything I could have dropped on my cream carpet, I dropped the Noir Abstrait (black) Colorband Pencil – point down. GENIUS. I now have a big black mark on the carpet under my desk, which I’ve rubbed and managed to spread, and it looks like even Vanish won’t get it off, arrrgh! So yeah, just be warned that this pencil is super black and super long lasting!

Ok so I hope I haven’t put you off? I have tried the other shades on my eyes and I have to say that these pencils really are superb! They have a gorgeously soft and creamy texture that glides on like a dream. They’re really easy to use, and are ultra long lasting and waterproof too.

Just look at the swatches! How gorgeous are these colours!? I think it you’re a fan of the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows, or W7 Chunky Eyes Pencils you’ll really like these. They both have similar highly pigmented, metallic finishes to these pencils. I’m definitely going to try the black out soon on my eyes, wish me luck! 😀

The Bourjois Colorband 2-in-1Eyeshadow & Liners are £5.99 each at Boots.

So what do you think? I’d love to hear if you have any favourite Bourjois products? I hope you enjoyed my review! xxx

January Beauty Favourites

january-2015-beauty-favourites

Hi Guys!

I’ve only just released I haven’t written a monthly favourites post since last September – oops! Anyway I’m back on the wagon now, and there have just been so may amazing products I’ve been using lately, it’s been hard to cut it down! I’ve managed to get my list down to a reasonable length now, so here are the products I’ve been loving in January –

MAC Lip Pencil in Soar. Ok so I’m a bit late to the bandwagon with the whole Kylie Jenner nude lip thing, but I am a big fan of a nude lip so thought I’d snap this up when I saw it finally available on MAC’s site, and I have to say I love it! The colour is the perfect my lips but better shade and I have to say I’m keen to grab Whirl when that comes back in stock now too.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita. I bought this last year when the Audacious lippies were first released, and it’s the perfect partner to my Soar lip pencil. Giving beautiful creamy colour with full opacity, this has been my go to lip product since the beginning of the year.

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Loose Powder. This is a product that I actually use all the time, but kind of automatically without realising if that makes sense! Mineral Veil is a fantastic setting powder without being heavy or cakey, it sets my foundation giving a demi-matte finish with a super lightweight feel.

Elie Saab Resort Collection Fragrance. This fragrance is simply beautiful and I haven’t been able to put it down since it arrived. Resort Collection instantly whisks you away on a luxurious holiday, with sunshine, cocktails, sailing boats (you know the type where people lounge around drinking champers) and summer nights. It’s the perfect fragrance to brighten your mood in this dreary weather and I really can’t recommend it enough.

Bourjois Mega Eyeliner Pen. This is without a doubt one of the best pen style eyeliners I’ve ever used. The Mega Eyeliner has a slanted nib – just like a calligraphy pen – which makes it super easy to draw fine or thicker lines. The product itself is also the deepest most opaque black, and it lasts all day. I would recommend this to any eyeliner fan.

Goldfaden MD Fleuressence Cell Oil. I must admit I’ve only recently started trying the Fleuressence Cell Oil, but I have to say I’m completely in love already. This miracle oil encompasses 100% pure active botanicals, fruit extracts and natural oil to deliver powerful vitamins and nutrients deep into the skin, resulting in replenished hydration, improved skin colour and tone and it boosts radiance. I’ve only used this a few times but my skin already feels brighter, plumper and amazingly nourished. Full review to follow!

Stila In The Light Palette. I’m pretty sure this has been in one of my previous favourites posts. This palette is just so beautiful and versatile, I’ve found myself constantly going back to it. The shades are all so easy to wear, plus they have amazing colour payoff and stay put all day.

Milani Baked Blusher in Luminoso. I’ve only just discovered Milani products, and I’m so glad I did. Their baked eyeshadow in Luminoso is such a beautiful peachy coral shade that gives a lovely sheen to the skin and brightens the complexion. It’s the perfect spring shade!

Nuxe Reve De Miel. This lip balm has instantly jumped to the top of my favourites list. It works amazingly well to soften and moisturise even the driest lips, i.e mine, and it’s lived in my handbag ever since it arrived. This is a must have if you suffer from super dry lips like I do. (FYI I googles it and Reve De Miel means ‘Honey Dream’)

Well there we have it for January’s favourites, I’m going to try my best not to forget to do February’s! I hope you enjoyed my post, and I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products? xxx

My Top Beauty Products of 2014

Posted on December 30, 2014

beauty-favourites-2014

Hi Guys!

It’s time again for the yearly round of up all things beauty! So I’ve pulled together all the stand out items from 2014 and put them in one handy post for you. There were actually SO many great products this year, it was really hard to keep the list down to a sensible number, I managed to cut it down to a fairly reasonable 14 items though, and I’ve included a quick paragraph about each product and links to my individual reviews if you want to read into them further. Enjoy!

1. Charlotte Tilbury Eyeshadow Palette in The Dolce Vita. This was my first Charlotte Tilbury eye product and it’s just the most beautiful palette I’ve ever seen. The shades are stunning both in colour and texture, and they apply like a dream! I now have the Supermodel set too which I’ll be reviewing shortly so keep your eyes peeled for that!

2. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. This palette contains the softest, most finely milled pressed powders I think I’ve ever come across. I use this palette to highlight and give an all over glow which really makes the skin look lit from within. This was an expensive product but in my opinion it’s definitely worth every penny.

3. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. I’d been itching to get my hand on this for a while, and when I finally did, I wasn’t disappointed. The Chocolate Bar palette contains enough shadows to create a multitude of looks, from day to night, and everything in between. Again it’s not cheap, but I’d highly recommend it.

4. Super Facialist Tea Flower Purifying Cleansing Wash. This unassuming budget cleanser has actually been my go-to cleansing product for quite a while. I’m now on my second one and I love how it gives my skin a lovely matte finish, without drying at all, and it also noticeably reduced pores!

5. Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Jelly. Along with their Moisture Booster Serum, Hydraluron products have literally saved my skin this year. I apply this regularly to my face, which just drinks it up leaving my skin feeling fresh and hydrated all day.

6. YSL Fusion Ink Foundation. I feel that this foundation really was a breakthrough product in 2014, it has such an unusual ink-like consistency that really is a joy to apply and wear. I can’t wait to see what else YSL has up their sleeves for 2015!

7. YSL Black Opium EDP. Black Opium has to be one of my favourite fragrances from 2014. As soon as I read reviews on it I knew I had to try it, and I’m so glad I did. This is now one of my go-to fragrances that I wear on a regular basis.

8. Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Liqueur. Sleek are a fantastic budget brand, and this lipstick has not left my makeup bag since I received it (actually it’s my second one) It’s the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade. It’s creamy and doesn’t dry at all, and it’s under a fiver too!

9. NARS Audacious Lipsticks. I’m in love with the Audacious formula. I now have four lipsticks from this collection and I love them all. The colour payoff is amazing, and they’re lovely to wear too. They’re pretty expensive at £24 each but more than worth it in my book.

10. Glo & Ray Shimmer Shimmer Lipsticks. Glo & Ray have really made a big impact on me since I discovered the brand earlier this year. If you’re a regular reader you’ll probably have noticed I always rave about their products! Their Shimmer Shimmer lipsticks really are fantastic value for money – they have amazing quality whilst being cheaper than MAC, so these are definitely a winner for me!

11. Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Kit. I’ve had the Anastasia Contour Kit for a while but haven’t actually got around to reviewing it yet. It’s not cheap but it really is a fantastically handy palette – including six shades it has everything you need to contour your face to Kardashian perfection.

12. Bourjois 1 Seconde Mascara. I’m a big fan of Bourjois products and as soon as I tried their 1 Seconde mascara it became my go-to mascara of choice. I have super short lashes and this product really does thicken and lengthen better than any mascara I’ve tried yet.

13. Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. You knew the Melted Lipsticks had to be in here! They are SO amazing. I now own three full sized, and the mini set of four. I’ve just seen that Too faced have released some new shades too, so as soon as they’re available at Sephora I’m going to snap them up!

14. Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeliners. I’m the bigghest eyeliner fan ever, and whichever brand I try, I always find myself going back to Bourjois Contour Clubbing Eyeiners. They’re affordable, I can buy them in the small town where I live, and they come in a massive rage of colours – amazing!

I’d love to hear which products you loved in 2014?

I hope you enjoyed my post! xxx
