Fashion Wish List: Fun at the Fair with Farfetch

Posted on June 27, 2017

Hi Guys!

Now I have to say, I don’t usually do competition posts any more, just because the chances of winning are so small, they never seem worth it. BUT, I was invited to take part in FarFetch’s latest competition, and with a £1000 prize up for grabs, I thought it was definitely worth a shot!

So, if you’re not aware of Farfetch, they’re a massive online store selling pretty much every designer fashion item you could want or need (plus they have some pretty awesome sales too). They’ve recently launched a new online magazine called The Style Guide, and in celebration of their beautiful editorial content, Farfetch have asked me to create a blog post inspired by one of their articles.

The article which particularly caught my attention was Brighton Fashion: Your Ultimate Guide. I went to Brighton a few years ago for my hen party, and I absolutely love the place. I really can’t rave about it enough. It’s such a wonderful city – dubbed the LGBTQ capital of the UK, Brighton is home to one of the largest Pride events in the country. It’s also full of quirky independent shops, vintage boutiques and of course the famous Brighton Pier. It’s definitely a place worth visiting if you haven’t already.

In terms of style, you’ll find a real eclectic mix in Brighton. There’s an underlying sense of fun and escapism – which I think is why I love it there so much. So with this in mind, I’ve put together a little wish list inspired by Brighton…

I’d love to hear what you think? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

My Autumn Fashion Wishlist

Posted on September 22, 2015

autumn fashion wishlist

Hi Guys!

Did you know Autumn is officially upon us as of tomorrow? (according to Google anyway) It’s suddenly turned super cold here, resulting in me living in jogging bottoms, my other half’s chunky socks and my red blanket – what a great look hey!

Because of the sudden cold turn in the weather, I’ve also been considering what to update in my wardrobe. On one hand I want to wait till I’ve lost more weight before buying anything new, but on the other hand I love A/W fashion and I JUST WANT TO BUY ALL THE THINGS!

So, out with my beloved yet flimsy (only because they’re made of fabric) Schuh flats I’ve been loving all summer, and in with some sturdy shoes and boots I think! I also really want to get a cape or a wrap of some sort. I’m not sure which though yet, but I think worn right they can look really smart and chic.

Sticking with a seasonal palette of browns, greys and neutrals – with some gold jewellery of course, I’ve put together my top Autumn picks from some of my favourite fashion stores –

  1. Avelon Skinny Fit Trousers from Farfetch
  2. Chronicle Ring Set from Nasty Gal
  3. Givenchy Three Row Bracelet from Selfridges
  4. Vivien Westwood Primrose Zip Tote Bag from Daniel Footwear
  5. Moschino Bear Earrings from Selfridges
  6. Label Lab Lightweight Side Split Dress from House of Fraser
  7. Roll Neck Poncho from Esprit
  8. Matisse Nugent Ponyhair Ankle Boot from Nasty Gal

I’d love to hear if any of these take your fancy?

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

Father’s Day Gift Guide

Posted on June 9, 2015

fathers day gift guide_edited-2

Hi Guys!

Father’s day is on the horizon (Sunday June 21st in case you didn’t know) so if you’re looking for some inspiration I’ve put together a little tongue in cheek gift guide, including a range of cheap and cheerful to more expensive goodies. Hopefully there’ll be something here to suit a variety of budgets and please all Dads no matter what they’re into!

Anchorman Hip Flask (£9.99) Every Dad should own a hip flask for ’emergencies’. Printed with ‘I love Scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes, down into my belly,‘ this Ron Burgundy stainless steel hip flask would make the perfect gift for any Anchorman fan. Maybe buy a bottle of whiskey to go with it if you’re feeling generous!

Scaramouche & Fandango Bath Set (£13.50) Dads can often get sweaty when they’re out and about doing manly things like painting fences, press ups and DIY. Help your Dad stay smelling sweet with this handy set from Scaramouche & Fandango. Containing a 200ml shampoo and 200ml body wash, the shampoo includes detoxing shea butter and black quinoa to remove excess oils and dirt from the hair, while Keravis protein helps keep hair strong and healthy, protecting against day-to-day pollution. The body wash contains Brazilian Papaya, to remineralise the skin, and Vitamin E to provide anti-inflammatory and protective benefits to the skin.

Fred Perry Marl Crew Neck Knit (£49.00) Every Dad should own a smart fine knit jumper, and this one by Fred Perry is perfect, it’s grey, which is a favourite colour of Dad’s because it reminds them of battleships and metal tools, and it’s also in the sale, so you’ll have money left over to buy your lovely Dad some extra gifts too.

Champion Dad Trophy (£3.50) Make your Dad feel like the champion he is with this high quality real plastic gold tone trophy. All the other Dads will be jealous when they see your Dad got a trophy for Father’s day!

For All Mankind Army Green Jumper (£59.98) And something for the trendy Dad, this army green jumper would be perfect for a smart / casual look with jeans. Dads famously hate clothes shopping, so why not give him a helping hand and snap this up for him!

N.10 Corkscrew knife (£26.50) I mean what could be more ‘Dadly’ than a pocket knife? With a corkscrew!? This is a basic Dad-gadget that every Dad should own. This fancy one has a nice wooden handle. Dads will appreciate the craftsmanship on this beauty.

Barbour Heritage Olive Brown Sweatshirt (£59.50) A jumper for the country Dad. If your Dad likes to romp around in the sticks, maybe with a rifle and wax jacket, he’ll be thrilled with this Barbour sweatshirt. It’s smart yet practical, definitely a staple for any Dads wardrobe.

Holkham Country Fair Tickets (from £15.00) If you fancy getting your Dad something a little different for Father’s Day, what about Holkham Country Fair tickets? I think this is a great idea, the Holkham Country Fair is a magnet for Dads, with over 200 trade, fine food and craft stands showcasing rural crafts and country pursuits, as well as stunt men, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and target golf. Your Dad would be thrilled to receive tickets for this event.

Neal & Wolf Sculpt & Style Duo (£20.95) Does your Dad like to style his hair? If he doesn’t have a balding bonce like my Dad, your should treat him to some fancy hair products from Neal & Wolf. The Sculpt & Style Duo contains Form Sculpting Lotion which has been designed to help shape and hold the look you want with added benefit of head-turning texture and stunning shine. And Shape Pliable Paste which is as texturing paste that gives an outstanding strong hold that improves definition and is perfect for shorter styles.

I hope this has given you some inspiration and raised a smile! xxx

The Weekly Top 5 #8

the weekly top 5 no 8_edited-1

Hi Guys!

Happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a great weekend? Today’s weekly top 5 is a little different to usual, basically I was supposed to put together an outfit post showing you what I wore for the wedding I went to last Friday, but after a series of unfortunate events including forgetting my camera when we went to the wedding, then being really ill – which still hasn’t gone away properly, so I’m just not up to having my taken right now, I’ve decided to include my outfit in today’s post instead!

I’m a massive fan of vintage clothes (I actually used to run a vintage clothing store a few years ago) and my favourite eras are definitely the 50’s and 80’s. From the 50’s I love pretty prom style dresses with full circle skirts and petticoats, and I love anything loud and brash from the 80’s like bright prints and gold jewellery – I also collect 80’s jewellery too 🙂

So for the wedding I went with this beautiful Lindy Bop Ella dress from Lucy Loves Vintage. This style of dress really suits my shape as I have a larger bottom half, so it skims over that and emphasises my smaller waist which is ideal! The Ella dress comes in plus sizes too which is fantastic, and it’s also available in a range of different colours. I went for this gorgeous turquoise / teal shade (called slate) which I obviously have a thing for as my mum pointed out it’s the exact same shade as the vintage dress I wore for my wedding reception (you can check that out here)

I wore a plain black Short Sleeve Shrug (£15) over the top to cover my shoulders and arms, and for undies, I wore some big pants to suck everything in, and this super pretty Heidi Klum Intimates Amelia Underwired Bra, which is currently in the sale at House of Fraser. It was £38, and is now £30.40.

I’ve slightly embellished in this post because I don’t actually have the gorgeous shoes and bag I’ve included. I just wore some very non-exciting plain black shoes, and ended up taking a big ‘practical’ bag for all Fred’s necessities like wipes, toys and juice. If I had my way though I’d definitely wear these beautiful Lotus Isabelle Peep Toe Heels (was £59.99, now £41.99) partly because they’re so pretty and a great alternative to black shoes, but also because Lotus offer half sizes, which is perfect for me as I’m dead on a 5.5! I also included this stunning Phase Eight Rita Jewelled Box Clutch (was £79, now £63.20) just because it’s so pretty and finishes off the outfit really well!

I’d love to hear what you think of my outfit? I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

The Weekly Top 5 #3

the weekly top 5 no 3

Hi Guys!

It’s the end of another week already, and I can’t believe this is my third Weekly Top 5! This week I’ve been on a complete health kick, I’m feeling positive and focussed and I’ve been eating well and exercising ALL WEEK. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any weight come off yet, which is a bit disappointing, so I’m just assuming I’m putting on muscle! Here’s the run down of this week’s favourites –

Beautylab Instant Renewal Eye Complex (£28.00) – I’ve just started using this new eye cream from Beauty Lab with the hope that it will improve the general appearance of my eye area. It promises to lift and restore the delicate eye area, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkes. Luckily I don’t have any actual wrinkles as yet, but the fine lines are just starting to appear, as well as puffy eye bags which I’ve suffered from for a long time, so I’m hoping this product will tackle them too. It’s too early for results to show as yet, but time will tell!

NYX Butter Lip Glosses (£5.00) I have a few Butter Glosses which I’ve had for a while, but I’ve found myself reaching for the Apple Strudel shade quite a lot this week. It’s such a pretty spring peach that’s easy to wear and helps brighten the complexion. I love peaches and corals for spring so I’ll hopefully be featuring some more of these shades on the blog soon.

Years & Years. Since being lucky enough to get Saturday tickets to Radio One’s One Big Weekend in Norwich, I’ve been looking into which bands are playing. I’m so out of the loop with music at the moment I literally have no clue about who’s who, so I’ve been browsing youtube looking up all the acts so I at least have some sort of idea, and I’ve decided that Years & Years are officially my new favourite band! Check them out on Youtube, and you can also pre-order their album which is out in June.

Double Chocolate Virtue Bars (£8.99 per box) I’ve been really focussing on fitness and eating well this week and I have a few food bits from My Protien to help me on my way. I’ve been absolutely loving their Double Chocolate Virtue Bars, they’re basically a quick and convenient snack bar that’s high in protein and fibre and less than 95 calories per bar. It’s a great way to satisfy my chocolate craving without undoing the good work I’ve done so far.

Boujies Candle in Pink Pomelo (£16.00) – This sweet little candle arrived last week too, and I’ve been lighting it every day since. Boujies create 100% natural wax candles, blended with their unique blend of essential oils and fine fragrances. This one – Pink Pomelo is a clean and crisp citrus blend, described as ‘a sparkling and uplifting citrus fragrance with top notes of yuzu, grapefruit, sweet lemon and effervescent pink pomelo. Lifting from a bright floral heart of jasmine blossom, elderflower and muguet, gently resting on a musky base of amber infused with a twist of white tea’. This fragrance is light, bright and beautifully refreshing.

Festival Fashion Inspiration with Lyst.co.uk

Posted on April 25, 2015

lyst festival wishlist

Hi Guys!

I have to admit, I an officially the queen of procrastination. I can while away hours on Pinterest looking at pretty pictures and tutorials and pinning until the early hours, if you’ve used the site you’ll know the addiction is very real. But I’ve now discovered a brand new distraction site – Lyst.co.uk. It basically offers a unique shopping experience where you can create wish lists (or lysts) for anything and everything where it comes to fashion and accessories.

So how does it work? Well you might want to make a lyst to plan an outfit if you have something particular mind, so you just search for what you’re looking for and start adding the items you like to your lysts, it’s as simple as that! Or if you’re like me, you might just like looking at gorgeous clothes and accessories and creating wish lists! It’s also worth mentioning that the site coveres a whole range of brands, from high end designers like Burberry and Valentino, to easily accessible high street brands such as ASOS and Topshop.

I’ve been playing around with the site for a little while and used it to come up with a ‘Festival Fashion’ lyst. I’m in love with the beautiful Diane von Furstenberg Pink Ombre Silk Kaftan and the Madewell Arrow Flip Necklace especially, and both are included in the image above. DVF is a bit out of my price range unfortunately, but the Madewell necklace is well within what I can afford at only £36, and I never would have come across it if it wasn’t for this site!

What I love is that Lyst.co.uk has made me aware of so many more brands and companies than I ever knew existed, and one of the best things is if you add something to one of your lysts and it’s out of stock, you will also be alerted via email when that item comes back in stock, or even if one of your choices goes on sale – which is super handy if you have your eye on something specific.

If you love fashion and discovering new things, I’d highly recommend you check out Lyst.co.uk!

I hope you enjoyed my post xxx

St Patrick’s Day with The Glow Brand

Posted on March 17, 2015

the-glo-brand-green-shoes

Hi Guys!

Happy St Patricks Day! I hope whatever you’re up to today has some sort of Irish theme!! As perviously mentioned, I’m not too well at the moment, so unfortunately as much as I want to, there will be no Guinnes swilling or attempts at the Riverdance for me today, I’m not even up for hunting for leprechauns – sad times! I do however, have a gorgeous new pair of heels to comfort me in my time of need, these amazing shoes are super high, neon green and made of rubber type material called thermoplastic polyurethane, and they. are. everything.

Ok I know they may not exactly be to everyone’s taste, but they are so me! I’ll happily admit I’m not the best at walking in heels, and I try not to actually walk in them at all costs – I’m more of a shuffle from the limo to the bar kinda girl, and just sit and look pretty if you know what I mean! ;D

Anyway my fabulous new heels are in True Green (for Paddy’s day of course) this colour supports the Missione Sogni Foundation, which is the Italian version of The Make-A-Wish Foundation. I love that The Glow Brand work alongside a wide range of charities, so you know that a percentage of your money is going to a worth while cause. Also, The Glow Brand also have loads of other bright (and a couple of less bright) colours on offer, with each different colour representing a different charity. You can see all the details on their site here.

neon-green-heels

I was also lucky enough to grab the opportunity to interview the founder of The Glow Brand, Tammy Haines, so I could learn a bit more about them and the work they do –

1.    I’d love to hear the background story behind The Glow Brand?

My mother, Jennifer Haines, passed away some years ago from Cancer. She was someone who really did a lot for other people, simply from the goodness of her own heart without expectations and so I wanted to do something in her memory. My mother was also someone who was incredibly athletic. She was quite well known for running ultra-marathons e.g. the Comrades (in South Africa, 89km long) and at this time you would often see runners, raising funds for charities and wearing a silicone wrist band.

My mother had also started a new life for our family, she came ahead of our immigration from South Africa to Europe and literally went from stay-at-home mother to business lady, rediscovering fashion along the way.

In my mind the stiletto is the ultimate power symbol for women, so it made sense to me to redefine this particular wardrobe item. I want the stiletto to be about the wearer, that they literally make a stand for their beliefs and values. Hence the classic design and beautiful use of colors, each representing a charity.

2.    Can you explain how The Glow Brand work with charities?

The Glow Brand looks for charities that have an intimate partnership with anyone contributing to their cause. As a start-up we expected in the beginning to be selling few units, and we got a lot of blocks from charities that expected guaranteed minimum contributions starting from 10,000 Euros and upwards.

As a growing company, we hope to eventually be able to give this, and more, but this administration made us wonder how transparent it was on how clearly we would be able to see the difference on what our contributions where making. So this and our relationship with the charity has become very important to us.

We have looked for charities that touch every part of our lives and are either international or in a country that we haven’t had a chance to make a difference in. In fact, the color: Lady Greystone, hasn’t been allocated a charity yet and we are looking for one possibly helping with support in times of crisis such as supporting with medical supplies, fresh water or building homes. We welcome suggestions and contacts!

3.    I love the neon colours the shoes are available in – why did you go for neons rather than more traditional colours?

We started with 5 neon colours in order to grab attention, the same way the bright silicone wrist bands do. We saw that it explained our goal faster and young women where really having fun putting color back in their wardrobes. Looking around now, floresecent colors are quite popular in clothing.

We started last year also with traditional colour, not to be conservative, but to also embrace the ease of wearing The Glow Brand on a more day-to-day basis. E.g. Not every fashionista wants to wear rubber boots when it rains, The Glow Brand stilettos are perfect for bad weather in a extremely classy and eye catching way. Talk about brightening up your day!

4.    Is there anything else you’d like your potential customers to know?

A start-up is not easy; and in the fashion industry breaking the norm with new materials is extremely difficult. What we are doing is beautiful, designed with heart and honest. We aren’t supported by the marketing money of hiring well known celebrities to flaunt our product.

Our stilettos are shoes for the people, worn by the people. We hope that the logo will eventually be known for the wearer and what that person wants to see improved or supported in their lives. The world is much bigger than one person. I owe this philosophy to both my parents, and I think this is a fabulous way to act as an entrepreneur. We need more businesses with this approach.

I’ts been great hearing the story behind the company, and I love that they work slo closely with many charities. I’d love to hear what you think of my amazing shoes!? xxx

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Posted on March 10, 2015

mothers-day-gift-guide-new

Hi Guys!

Ok so I have to admit, I only just found out yesterday that it was Mother’s Day this Sunday. I could have sworn it was next weekend, what an idiot. So I must apologise for the lateness of this post!

I’ve gathered together a load of fantastic gift ideas to inspire you, that hopefully most Mum’s would love. These are either things I have, or have used or tried before, and all are items that I love, so here we go…

Firstly, you can’t go wrong with flowers for Mother’s Day, can you? This lovely bouquet from Appleyard Flowers includes pink sorbonne oriental lilies with avalanche roses and blush sugar flair hypericum. And what about candles? I can’t get enough of candles at the moment and one of my current favourites for a pamper evening is the Indulgence Scented Candle from Neal & Wolf, it has a beautiful and relaxing scent.

If you’re looking for skincare gifts, this Calcot Manor Tubs of Softness Set from Tesco is a fantastic bargain, but if you’re happy to splash the cash I’d highly recommend the beautiful Repose Night Cream from Templespa – this beautiful aromatherapy resting cream is specifically made to calm your skin and your soul. It’s rich in natural plant extracts, anti-oxidants and contains a fusion of relaxing essential oils to leave the complexion ultra-smooth and settled. Another option is the Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub Advanced from Space NK, this is a deep penetrating exfoliating treatment for oily prone complexions that really does reveal clearer-looking skin.

I always make sure I give my Mum a card for Mother’s Day. She’s always said she doesn’t mind about a gift but she does like a nice card! This beautiful Personalised Papercut Card from StudioSeed combines sophistication with pretty details, I know she’ll love to receive this! Carrying on with more traditional gifts, what about this gorgeous Silver Linked Heart Bracelet from Tales From The Earth? Or the mouth wateringly delicious Gold Collection Chocolate Selection from Godiva? Jewellery and chocs are always greatly received on holidays!

And lastly, my favourite perfume right now – Resort by Elie Saab from Selfridges. If you haven’t yet, you need to try this! It smells exactly like an exotic holiday and I really can’t get enough of it. And on that note Molton Brown’s Blossoming Honeysuckle & White Tea Body Gift Set would also make a fantastic gift, I love Molton Brown’s scents, they really do give you the most luxurious bath and leave me in a contested happy mood for the evening.

I hope this has given you some Mother’s Day gift ideas! xxx

Two New Looks For Spring…

Posted on February 26, 2015

Hi Guys!

I absolutely love fashion, and I’m now trying to add more fashion type posts to my blog – the thing I’m having a problem with though is the fact that I can’t take photos of myself! I don’t have anyone around that can take photos for me, so I need to look into a remote for my camera, and get a tripod! (If anyone can recommend a remote, please let me know) In the mean time I quite like putting looks and outfits together – on my kitchen floor for the time being! 🙂 Here are a couple I’ve done with some of the awesome new things I’ve acquired lately, I’ve put together one casual look and one for evening!

casual-accessories

I bought this lovely top in the F&F sale at Christmas, it was reduced to £6 or something and I wear it all the time, it’s slightly baggy so it covers everything up and I love the gold shoulder detail, it also has an exposed zip detail at the back. Wins all round!! I’m also obsessed with necklaces, and I love this pretty triangle stone necklace which I bought from Topshop ages ago, and I happened to recently stumble across in a drawer so I haven’t actually worn yet. For a toned down casual look I’ve started to wear these gorgeous Safari Boots from Calzados Victoria – they have the softest furry lining and I definitely prefer wearing them folded down rather than laced up to the top for a more relaxed look. I’m also part of Access All ASOS, they set up a secret santa blogger gift swap at Christmas, where they gave everyone involved a £15 voucher to spend on the site to buy gifts for someone else, what a lovely idea! Except my parcel never arrived 🙁 so they kindly gave me the voucher to buy something for myself, they’re good guys at ASOS! I treated myself to these awesome Cat Eye Sunglasses, a bargain at a tenner, and the scarf in the below pic 🙂 The pink and blue scarf is also from ASOS a looong time ago.

going-out-accessories

And this is my going out look! I’m in love with these amazing Cassie Cut out Ankle Boots from Online Avenue, they literally tick all the boxes for me – gold details, cut outs and a platform, check, check and check, and they’re a complete bargain at just over £20 too! I bought the Pieces Jine Oversized Floral Scarf from ASOS as it just has such a lovely pattern. I literally live in scarves most of the year! I also included this pretty Crackle Stone & Rope Chain Necklace from New Look (sorry it’s not available any more) and if you look closely you’ll see it’s missing a stone, arrgh!! I always manage to damage or break my necklaces!

And lastly, I had to include my gorgeous new Ingrid Medium Leather Bag from Baginc, ahh I can’t get enough of it! It’s pretty much a spot on dupe for the Chanel Boy which I’ve needed in my life and desperately lusted after for a long time now, but unfortunately my budget doesn’t quite fit with the £2.6k price tag, ouch! The beautiful Ingrid bag is made of real leather and apart from the lack of branding, which I really don’t mind (it also means it’s not a copy or fake) it’s SO similar to the Chanel. I think I can live without the designer version now, I can’t wait to take my Ingrid out!

I’d love to hear what you think of my two looks? And I promise I’ll have some full outfit posts coming up soon! xxx
