BareMinerals SPF Powder Foundation Review

BareMinerals SPF Powder Foundation Review

The lovely guys at Beauty Cutey sent me a *bareMinerals SPF foundation in ‘Fair’ to trial this week. I was interested to try this product as my skin tends to be dry so I have stayed away from powder foundations in the past and always used liquids.

‘Magazines and millions of women agree: your skin will love you for this. Our Original SPF 15 Foundation gives you an incredibly flawless, even application and picture-perfect skin. Its silky, soft texture looks like a powder, but it feels like a cream and buffs on beautifully without settling into fine lines or drying out the skin. Made with only the purest, highest quality ingredients — and none of the chemicals and preservatives that can irritate skin. It’s makeup so pure you can sleep in it’

Sounds like a lot to live up to! I’ve also been told this product is absolutely fine for dry skin types as there is no talc in the ingredients so it is not drying to the skin.

‘Applying the Makeup is Easy 1. Swirl a small amount of bareMinerals into the lid with the Flawless Application Brush (for lighter coverage) or the Full Coverage Kabuki Brush (for more coverage) until the bareMinerals are tucked into the bristles. 2. Tap off excess. bareMinerals should not be visible on the outside of the brush. 3. Buff bareMinerals onto the skin in a swirling, circular motion, starting on the outside of your face near your cheekbones. Then, buff around your face, working your way to the cheeks, forehead, and nose. Buff until you’re satisfied with the coverage. Less is more when applying bareMinerals.’

I didn’t have a bareMinerals brush so just used a MAC 182 brush to buff into the skin. You can see below you really don’t use much product at all!

So here is a nice close up of my skin before hand, pores and all!

And below after the foundation has been applied – I re-loaded the brush twice. (The black hair on my cheeck is from my new buffer brush by the way!)

Bareminerals Makeover

I have to say I am so impressed with this product, it took less than a minute to apply, and left a really flawless but natural looking finish. My skin didn’t feel dry, and it didn’t emphasise any dry patches as many foundations tend to. I will definitely be repurchasing this!

I struggle to find a good colour match with Bare Minerals (seriously, i’ve got at least 5 different colours sitting in my drawer and none are right! I can use 1 of them when i have a very good tan but other than that they are too light/too dark or too yellow)
I used it more when i was younger but I find now that it seems to kinda oxidize on my skin and look cakey and patchy, I’d be interested to know how you get on with this in the humid weather we’ve got atm xxxxx

This is interesting to hear, have you tried mixing some colours together to make your own? Just a thought! It’s been pretty hot here today and all is good so far. I’m planning on using it daily though so will keep you updated! xxx

Bare Minerals foundation was the first I went to when I found I needed some more coverage as I got older but wasn’t interested in piling on too much “slap”…. I absolutely love it. The only downside is that it’s not great for travelling.

It really is great for coverage without that ‘caked on’ look, why do you find it not great for travelling? xxx

I was told my skin was perfect for this foundation as I needed light coverage.
I’ve been so tempted to purchase after seeing there products. I’m glad you sent me this link so I could hear more opinions on it 🙂
