Hot on the heels of my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette I now have the gorgeous Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette, yippee! Too Faced really has been one of my favourite beauty brand discoveries last year, there isn’t a product I’ve come across that I haven’t liked! (You can also check my Melted Lipsticks review out here)
The Cat Eye Palette couldn’t be more different from the Chocolate Bar Palette – this one has three base shades and six eye shadows, with three of the shadows having the option of being used wet or dry to create a more intense look. Where as the Chocolate Bar palette is more of an all rounder, evry day, neutral palette, the Cat Eyes palette is aimed towards creating specify looks – which you’re helped with by the handy looks guide included. The guide offers step by step instructions for three different looks, including Day, Classic and Fashion. I think these guides really are handy, whether your new to makeup or would call yourself an expert, it’s always interesting to see someone else’s take on using colour and application.
The palette comes in Too Faced’s classic tin style casing with an awesome animal print finish. It’s a good semi-compact size (much smaller than the Chocolate Bar palette) so it would fit into most makeup bags, and there’s a handy mirror on the inside of the lid and I’m also pleased to say no brushes. I say pleased because I’m really not a fan of brushes that come with palettes – of any brand. I find they tend to cheapen the palette – especially if they’re the sponge applicator type. I’d rather the space was used for more products that brushes that won’t get used!
Too Faced have included three base shades which can also be used as highlighters, two being matte and one shimmer. ‘Purrr’ is a shimmery vanilla, ‘Meow’ is a matte ivory, and ‘Kitten’ is a shimmery light rose.
The first three shadows are (L-R) Kitty Glitter, Pussy Cat and Tiger’s Eye. Tiger’s Eye has to be my favourite here, it’s a beautiful intense shimmering bronze, full of colour and depth. Pussy Cat is a cute cool toned shimmer orchid pink, and Kitty Glitter is definitely more of a glitter shade, unfortunately my camera didn’t capture the sparkles in this shade, it’s actually super sparkly!
The last three shades can be worn wet or dry, so they’re perfect for creating intensely pigmented eye looks and can also be used as eyeliner. ‘Panther’ is matte jet black, ‘Jungle Love’ is navy blue with a hit of sparkle and ‘Leopard’ is a beautiful chocolate brown with golden sparkles.
Overall I’m really impressed with this palette, Too Faced have included a great variety of shades that can be easily experimented with to create a wide variety of looks – and I’ve just seen Too Faced have some brand new shades of Melted Lipsticks, this was one of my favourite products of last year so I can’t wait to get my hands on these next!
I’d love to hear if you’ve tried anything by Too faced? I hope you enjoyed my review xxx
