Hello again, and happy Monday!
I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend in the sun? We had some nice family time this weekend, with a lovely walk around Redgrave Fen, and I’ve also managed to catch a cold as well as hay fever… enough about me though! I have some wonderful and simply must-have scents to share with you today – let me talk you through my Six Spring Must Have Fragrances for 2016…
Let’s start with YSL black Opium Nuit Blanche – if you loved the original YSL Black Opium, Nuit Blanche is a definite must have for you. This is a gorgeously sensual, warm and intoxicating fragrance, and without a doubt this is an evening scent, it’s very similar to the original Black Opium though not quite as heavy, and definitely sweeter. It also has the familiar signature base of Black Opium – the White Coffee Accord which I absolutely love. Black Opium Nuit Blanche opens with notes of Rice Vapour and spicy Bourbon Pepper, it has a heart of exhilaratingly fresh and sharp Orange Blossom Absolute, and warming White Musk, Vanilla Absolute and sensual Sandalwood Essence at the base.
YSL Black Opium Nuit Blanche is priced from £45.OO for 30ML, and available at YSL Beauty now.
Next, in a complete contrast to the above YSL scent, we have CK2 EDT. Described as ‘gender-free fragrance for a man or a woman, without prejudices’, CK2 is fresh yet warm, clean and energetic. I feel Calvin Klein have described the scent very well with the term gender-free. It’s almost like wearing clean clothing – there’s nothing sweet and feminine, nor musky and masculine in this fragrance. CK2 is a celebration of diversity –

Life is better when we are 2.[/otw_shortcode_quote]
The fragrance opens with top notes of Mandarin, Violet Leaf Absolute, and surprisingly, Wasabi. The heart of Orris Concrete, Rose Absolute and Wet Cobblestones combines a rich sensuality, with a wet, mineral splash to give a warming freshness to the fragrance. The base of Vetiver and Incense blends with creamy Sandalwood and Musks to give a complexingly fresh, yet magnetic warmth to the scent.
CK2 is available now priced from £30.00 for 30ml at House of Fraser.
Next we have Annick Goutal Rose Pompon – I often think Annick Goutal fragrances can be overlooked, it’s not necessarily the brand that might jump out at you the most from the shelves, but if you haven’t experienced her fragrances before, I strongly recommend you do. Rose Pompon is the latest rose based scent from Annick Goutal, and it’s a current favourite of mine. It’s easily one of the best rose fragrances I’ve tried – and I’ve tried quite a few! Rose Pompon is a gorgeously easy to wear fruity rose scent. It’s surprisingly complex, modern and bold, with spicy notes of Pink Pepper and green sparkling Blackcurrant, opening with the velvety rich notes of Raspberry. The heart carries a duo of rose extracts – Bulgarian Rose and Taïf Rose which is a rare flower with a suave and sensual scent. The fragrance is sealed with a hint of Peony, woody Cedar and powdery Patchouli, followed by an exquisite note of White Musk.
Annick Goutal Rose Pompon EDT is priced from £59.00 for 50ml, and available now from John Lewis.
And I had to include Diptyque Eau Des Sens – you may have noticed my Eau Des Sens Soap post a while back, I just couldn’t get enough of this scent, and now I’m completely in love with the EDP. Eau Des Sens is a beautifully warm and refreshing scent that’s perfect for the warmer weather.
Diptyque Eau Des Sens promises to bring you “the scent of the orange tree in its entirety, from the white petals of the orange blossom to the dark green leaves to the juicy, bitter Seville orange hanging off the branches” – and that’s exactly what it does. It has a wonderful juicy citrus opening – taking you straight to Italy. The scent is fresh and summery, with top notes of Orange Flower and Bitter Orange blending with Juniper Berry at the heart, and Angelica and earthy Patchouli combine perfectly at the woody base.
Again this is a unisex, or gender-free scent. This could literally be worn by anyone. It’s summery, fresh and vibrant. Fans of citrus, fans of Italy and of course fans of Diptyque will no doubt fall in love with this scent.
Diptyque Eau Des Sens EDP is from £60.00 for 50ml, and available now from John Lewis.
Next is Barbour For Her EDT – this is the first fragrance from Barbour, and it’s definitely a winner. I really wasn’t sure what to expect with this scent – Barbour as a brand to me is high end outwear, wax jackets, quilted coats, horses… so how does that interpret into a fragrance? Well Barbour For Her is just the perfect every day scent, I completely love it. I’ve had numerous people ask me what I was wearing when out and about with this scent on. It’s sweet, fresh and sophisticated. Opening with fresh, sparkling fruity notes of Red Currant, contrasted by spicy Pink Pepper, this scent contains a beautifully floral blend of Rose, Jasmine and Blush Peony at the heart, and sweet Vanilla combined with rich notes of Vetiver at the base. This really is a must have every day scent – I dare you to find somebody that doesn’t like this!
Barbour for Her EDT is priced from £40.00 for 50ml, and available now at Selfridges.
And lastly we have Carven L’Absolu – this is another perfect day to day scent. Heavier than the above Barbour fragrance, L’Absolu EDP is floral and intense – yet not too much to put you off wearing in the day time. It’s voluptuous and sensuous, with an element of clean freshness that won’t go un-noticed.
L’Absolu opens with top notes of fresh Italian Green Mandarin Essence, combined with sensual Madagascan Ylang Ylang Essence. L’Absolu then moves into intense middles notes of Egyptian Absolute Jasmine, emphasised by beautiful Tuberose and Iris. The base comprises of rich oriental, notes, enhanced by Patchouli, Sandalwood and Spanish Absolute Cistus.
Carven L’Absolu EDP is from £42.00 for 30ml and available now at John Lewis.
So there we have it, what a gorgeous selection hey? I really can’t choose my favourite out of these scents! I’d love to hear if you have any of these? And what your favourite perfume is at the moment?
I hope you enjoyed my post xxx
