Following on from the fab Less is Better Collection which launched in March, Kiko’s next capsule collection has just landed – and it’s definitely one for fans of fun and colourful beauty products, and sheer, dewy finishes.
The Tropic Heat Collection has been designed by the founders of fashion brand Leitmotiv, and it’s the second limited edition capsule collection created to celebrate Kiko’s 20th birthday.
The Tropic Heat range includes a large collection of products that are perfect for the coming summer. There’s a selection of colour makeup in bright and colourful hues with both bold and sheer finishes, as well as a pretty makeup bag and refreshing eye mask. The products are fun to look at as well as use, with plenty of fruity scents and floral finishes, which represent a hot and colourful summer.
Starting with the Prime & Fix Mist (£7.90) – this is a refreshing, scented primer and make-up setting mist that’s available in three fruity fragrances. This spray can be used as both a primer and a setting mist, and leaves skin feeling refreshed and invigorated. I have this in 01 Red Fruits which has a light fruity scent that really reminds me of The Body Shop products.
The Nail Lacquer (£3.90) – again comes in three different shades which are scented. I have 02 Tropical Strawberry which is a pretty mid toned pink that’s perfect for summer. I have to say I can only smell the normal nail polish scent with this – I’m not getting even a hint of strawberries which is a bit of a shame. It’s a nice polish though even without the fragrance.
Next we have the Memory Gel Highlighter (£6.90 top left swatch) – on looking at the highlighter in the pot, I have to say I wasn’t expecting to like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It has a lightweight gel texture that’s bouncy to the touch and easy to apply to the cheekbones with a finger tip. I thought the finish might be too glittery for my liking, but the shimmer is super fine, and gives a lovely highlight. I have shade 01 Natural Gold which has a silver / gold base with a fine gold shimmer.
Kiko have also included a Dewy Stick (£7.90 centre swatch) in this collection. This is pretty much a spot on dupe for Ciate’s Dewy Stix, at a fraction of the price. This clear no-colour stick has a balmy finish and gives a dewy, wet look to the skin. It looks very similar on my swatch above to the Highlighter, but the Dewy Stick has no shimmer or glitter in its formula.
And the Lips & Cheeks Stick (£7.90 right swatch) – this chunky stick has a subtle fruity fragrance and a sheer creamy formula that’s perfect for adding a tint of colour to lips and cheeks. The formula is enriched with natural oils and on contact with the skint, the product kind of dissolves and glides on easily. I have shade 02 Sweety Mauve which has a lovely peach scent.
And on to probably my favourite product out of the bunch, the Eye Marker (£5.90) – this is a fantastic eyeliner that has a removable tip which can be reversed and used as a back up. It comes in four matte finish shades including back and white, a mint green and 03 Vitality Sky Blue, which I have. This is a beautiful bright blue, that gives an intensely pigmented line that lasts all day.
And lastly, the Face Brush (£10.90) – this face brush is made with soft synthetic bristles for easy, even application of all types of face powders. The rounded tip is great for sculpting while the bristles are the ideal density for mixing powders, bronzers and highlighters.
I think the Dewy Stick and Pastel Eyeliners are must-try products from this collection – I can’t wait to see what products await us in the next collaboration now!
