It’s actually been a really long time since I last published a favourites post, but I’m back today with a selection of affordable makeup must-haves – I’ve included some products that I absolutely love, which could also be perfect additions to your summer makeup bag!
Ok so lets start with the eyes. The first product on my list is the NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Shadow Palette in Warm Neutrals – this is described as a pro-level palette packed with 16 high-performance eyeshadows. There are six palettes available in this range, but in my opinion, the Warm Neutrals palette is definitely the one that’s a must-try. It’s a fantastic dupe for Urban Decay’s Naked Heat Palette (and at £16.00 it’s less than half the price) and it includes enough shadows to create a multitude of different looks.
The Warm Neutrals Palette includes 16 shades with a mixture of matte, metallic, satin and shimmer finishes, and the colour story is of course warm toned, but still quite neutral – there’s nothing too bright or out there in this palette, making it perfect for everyday wear. The shadows are all fantastically well pigmented, and blend like a dream. (Little disclaimer here, I already had this palette but Boots were kind enough to send me a new one, hence the shiny new palette in my photos)
My next affordable must have is the NYX Professional Makeup Epic Ink Liner in Black. This liner is just a great all-rounder. It has a super slim and flexible pointed brush tip, so you can create very thin lines if you wish, as well as the perfect wing. The liner itself is a brilliant deep black shade with a matte finish, and it also lasts all day. This is a fantastic makeup bag staple.
And lastly for eyes, you should definitely check out the NYX Professional Makeup Worth The Hype Volumizing Mascara. Again, this is super affordable at only £9.00. This mascara works incredibly well on my fine lashes to both volumize and elongate, without being too heavy or clumpy. The formula is also easy to build, so if you prefer a stronger look, just add another coat or two – easy!
On to lips now – another long-time favourite of mine is the Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in Liqueur. I know I’ve mentioned this product a few times over the years, but this is honestly still one of my go-to lipsticks. I have no idea how many I’ve purchased now! The shade Liqueur is the perfect nude for me, and the silky, semi-opaque finish is super comfortable on the lips. The Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick range also has 16 shades to choose from, including a few other nudes as well as brights, and a gorgeous deep red called Russian Roulette.
And lastly, I wanted to include the ASOS Design Chubby Highlighter Stick in Tenacious. I actually misplaced it for a while, and I’m so glad I’ve finally found it again! This is now one of my go-to highlighters just because it’s the perfect shade for my skin, and it’s so quick and easy to use – I just dab it on with my finger and I’m done. The formula is creamy and easy to apply, and it gives the most beautiful sheen of highlight, without any glitter whatsoever. I’ve included a fe swatches above.
