12 Fragrances You Need To Try in Summer 2019

Over the last couple of months I’ve been trying out some of the best new releases in scent, from high street to high end, and now I’ve gathered together some gorgeous, must try fragrances to tempt you this summer…

Let’s start with the gorgeous Nina Ricci Les Sorbets de Luna EDT – this limited edition fruity fragrance is the latest rendition of Luna, made super sugary-sweet for summer. Les Sorbets de Luna is a wonderfully bright and uplifting scent, inspired by mouth watering Italian gelato and pear granita (a drink made with crushed ice). The fragrance opens with punchy notes of bergamot, blackcurrant, rhubarb and nacho pear, giving a sparkling, zesty opening. The heart offers a floral composition of jasmine, magnolia and peony, leading to a base of cedarwood, musk and crystalline accord, leaving you with a beautiful warm and sweet dry down.

Another not-to-be-missed scent is Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight EDP. The latest in the Flowerbomb line has been given a luxurious and seductive makeover, utilising it’s star ingredient, rare and precious Night-Blooming Jasmine Living, Flowerbomb Midnight presents a stunningly sensual and intoxicating fragrance. Flowerbomb Midnight opens with notes of juicy blackcurrant, bright and zesty bergamot, grenade accord and spicy pink pepper, the floral heart of exclusive night blooming jasmine, freesia and peony then leads to a sultry base including notes of white Musk, patchouli and praline. This is a truly stunning, delicious fragrance that’s a must try for anyone looking for a new evening scent this summer.

The latest from Maison Margiela’s Replica fragrance line, Under The Lemon Trees is also a must-try summer scent. Imagine yourself strolling through a Mediterranean citrus field on a warm, relaxing summers day… this is basically that in a bottle. The top of the fragrance gives you an instant hit of fresh, fizzy citrus, at the heart, coriander mate absolute and tea leaves bring forward the green foliage of the lemon trees, and you’re left with a woody trail of cedar and white musks, representing the bark of the tree.

Next up I have Paco Rabanne Olympea Legend EDP – the latest flanker in the Olympea range is a stunning fruity oriental scent, offering a lighter and more luminous version of the original, Olympia Legend is sweet, seductive and captivating. The fragrance opens with fresh notes of desert palm flower and sweet ginger flower, a heart of amber sand accord and salty plum gives the scent a juicy boost, as well as introducing an addictive salty element which works beautifully with the base of sweet vanilla and tonka bean absolute. This is a scent that will make the wearer feel simply irresistible – perfect for a warm summer evening.

Coach Floral Blush EDP should also be on your radar if you’re looking for an easy to wear, day-to-day, perfume. This floral-fruity fragrance is wonderfully uplifting and bright. It has a joyful, playful essence that’s bound to put a smile on anyone’s face this summer. Floral Blush opens with bright and juicy goji berries and grapefruit, leading to notes of peony and sparkling peach at the heart. The base offers a dry-down of white woods and musk, leaving a soft and warming trail.

Salvatore Ferragamo Amo Ferragamo Flowerful EDT – the latest in the Amo Ferragamo line, Flowerful, is a beautifully feminine, energetic, sparkling scent. Another fruity-floral mood booster, this fragrance is also perfect for wearing daily. At the top, you’ll find bright and sparkling notes of Italian bitter accord, juicy blackcurrant, and yuzu flowers, leading to a beautifully floral heart of plum blossom, jasmine and pink peony, and a dry down of warming vanilla orchid, creamy blond woods, and musk at the base.

Moving on to one of my favourite fragrances this summer, Carolina Herrera Good Girl Legere EDP Natural Spray. The latest in the ‘Good Girl’ line offers a fresher, brighter version of the original scent for summer 2019. Good Girl Legere is luminous and sophisticated, yet sill a bold, noticeable scent. This stunningly seductive fragrance opens with a rush of juicy tangerine that leads perfectly to the floral heart of beautiful jasmine sambac and sweet ylang-ylang. The base of tonka bean, creamy dulce de leche and sensual sandalwood leaves the wearer enveloped with a sensual dry down that lasts for hours.

I also have a couple of gorgeous new releases from Giorgio Armani. Brand new from the ‘Si’ collection is Si Fiori EDP, a beautiful chypre-floral fragrance offering a sweet and powdery reinterpretation of the original. Opening with juicy green mandarin and blackcurrant, the scent leads to a warming heart of neroli essential oil and rose, with a wonderful dry down of delicious sweet vanilla and white musk.

There’s also a brand new Si Perfume Powder. Sweet and sensual, Si opens with notes of juicy blackcurrant and liqueur, leading to a floral heart of rose de mai absolute and freesia, and a lingering base of patchouli and oakmoss. Perfect for those that love the original Si scent, this limited edition, luxury soft-touch perfume powder compact is small and sleek, and very handy for fragrance touch-ups on the go.

Another gorgeous new scent is Mulger Alien Fusion EDP – the latest from the Alien line is inspired by a solar eclipse, Alien Fusion is a sultry floral oriental fragrance, with more than a subtle touch of spice. The fragrance opens with fiery notes of ginger and cinnamon, leading to a blooming heart of creamy tuberose and radiant orange blossom. At the base, Madascan vanilla mingles with white amber to give a warm and sensual dry down. This would make a wonderful evening scent for those that love intense, spicy fragrances.

Another gorgeous evening scent is Kenzo Flower By Kenzo Eau de Vie EDP Legere Spray – this absolutely giant bottle (it is the 100ml after all) houses a gorgeously sensual, warming scent, just perfect for summer nights. The fragrance opens with vibrant notes of zesty ginger and neroli essence, giving way to beautiful floral heart of orange blossom and Bulgarian rose absolute. At the base, you’ll find a sultry blend of tonka bean and white musk, leaving an irresistible trail wherever you go.

If you’re looking for something a little different, one of my favourite niche brands, Amouroud have recently launched Wet Stone EDP (Available at John Bell & Croyden)
Wet Stone is a beautifully nuanced, aromatic unisex scent. This is an earthy, clean and crisp fragrance evoking memories of a mountain waterfall – think water cascading over jagged rocks, earthy minerals, damp trees and cool air. The scent opens with a cool blend of bergamot, sea salt, and lemon cedrat, giving a burst of invigorating freshness. The heart features a signature wet stone accord alongside warming ginger, creamy cardamom and aromatic sage, and at the base, sensual ambergris, warm Alaskan cedar, vetiver, oud and patchouli work in harmony, leaving the wearer with a soft, fresh dry down.

And lastly I have Goldfield & Banks Desert Rosewood (Available at John Bell & Croyden) This woody-gourmand scent is one for those that love luxuriously rich, spicy, woody fragrances. Evoking the thick, arid forests of the Victorian Central Highlands in Australia, Desert Rosewood is the start of a forest adventure trail just waiting to be explored. This unisex scent opens with sweet Sicilian mandarin, Calabrian bergamot and Indian cardamom, leading to an oriental heart of French violet and nutmeg, and the spicy, woody drydown of benzoin, Indonesian patchouli, Australian desert rosewood.
