Five New Fragrances Perfect for Mother’s Day
10 March, 2021
Today I’ve gathered together five new fragrances that would make wonderful gifts for Mother’s Day – enjoy!
First up I have Gucci Guilty Love Limited Edition MMXXI EDP. I must admit I was initially attracted by the gorgeous bottle – and the fact that somehow I’ve only tried one other Gucci fragrance in my life! The original Gucci Guilty has been has been around since 2010, with Guilty EDP version launching in 2019. The latest Love Limited Edition MMXXI is essentially the same as the EDP, just in limited edition packaging.
Gucci Guilty Love edition is a romantic floral scent opening with citrus top notes of mandora, zesty bergamot and spicy pink pepper. The heart of lilac is contrasted with rosy, violet notes and layered with geranium oil to create a striking floral blend. At the base of the scent is a deep natural duet of patchouli oils – patchouli coeur and patchouli oil micro-distillation, combined with amber notes, leaving you with a beautiful trail that lasts all day.
- Top notes: Mandora, Pink Pepper & Bergamot
- Heart notes: Lilac & Geranium
- Base notes: Patchouli & Amber
Paco Rabanne Olympea Blossom EDP would also make for a beautiful Mothers Day gift. Housed in a strikingly pretty bottle, this chypre floral scent is the latest flanker in the Olympea line, and a must have for fans of the brand!
Olympea Blossom is nothing like the original Olympea, this is a fruity floral scent, fizzy, bright and warm. It’s lighter than the original Olympea, and is perfect for the coming spring weather. The fragrance opens with top notes of spicy pink pepper and fresh roses, and the heart, a blend of tangy blackcurrant and juicy pear, leads to a base of warming vanilla and cashmere wood.
- Top notes: Pink Pepper Rose
- Heart notes: Pear and Blackcurrent Sorbet
- Base notes: Vanilla Cashmere Wood
(Boots are currently offering £5 off this fragrance (£5 off orders over £50), as well as free next day delivery, AND a free gift voucher for a complimentary bouquet of flowers from The Happy Blossoms)
I also have the latest fragrance launch from L’Occitane – L’Occitane Osmanthus EDT is described as delicate fragrance with a green freshness, a velvety apricot effect, and creamy woody notes.
It opens with notes of fruity apricot, bitter orange and pear accord. The floral heart of absolute of osmanthus flower blends perfectly with mahonial and the warm and earthy carrot seed oil, leading to a base of cedarwood, sandalwood and ambrettolide leaving a vibrant enveloping trail.
This really is a beautiful springtime scent, light and fresh, as well as sweet and fruity, this would make a lovely gift for fans of L’Occitane products.
- Top notes: Apricot Delight, Pear Accord & Bitter Orange Oil
- Heart notes: Osmanthus, Mahonial & Carrot Seed
- Base notes: Cedarwood, Sandalwood & Ambrettolide.
Lancome La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal EDP is another brand new launch. The latest in the La Vie Est Belle line is a chypre floral fragrance that’s warm, tropical and super summery – it’s also very much coconut dominant. It’s mostly floral but touching on gourmand, and slightly sweet but not as sweet as the previous La Vie Est Belle scents.
I also have La Vie Est Belle L’Eau de Parfum Intense and La Vie Est Belle L’Eclat in my collection. I was going to do a comparison to each of these but Soleil Cristal is just so different, you wouldn’t even know it was from the same family!
La Vie Est Belle Soleil Cristal has a fresh and bright opening with citrus notes and pink pepper, and a hint of coconut milk straight from the get go. The floral heart then comes through with even more creamy coconut, and it becomes beautifully soft in the drydown, with notes of patchouli and vanilla. It really is a lovely feminine, exotic, holiday type scent, and if you’re a fan of coconut and vanilla, this is definitely one you should check out.
- Top Notes: Bergamot and Mandarin oils, Pink Pepper oil
- Heart Notes: Sunny Coconut accord, Orange Blossom and Jasmine Sambac absolutes
- Base Notes: Iris concrete, Patchouli Bali Oil and Vanilla Bourbon Premium Madagascar Infusion
(Boots are currently offering £5 off this fragrance (£5 off orders over £50), as well as free next day delivery, AND a free Lancome gift worth over £75 – what a great deal!)
And lastly I have Armani Si Intense – This is a chypre oriental scent with notes of blackcurrant, rose and patchouli. It’s a rich, intense and sweet, as well as seductive and feminine. This is no doubt a more concentrated version of the original Si – if you found you were looking for something longer lasting than the original Si, then Si Intense is just what you need.
‘Si Intense’s signature is blackcurrant nectar extracted from the heart of the fruit. In addition, Isparta rose, harvested in Isparta a region of Turkey known as ‘the city of roses,’ and the velvety and liquorous davana create an intense effect. Finally, patchouli and benzoin resin bestow an enveloping sensation.’
- Top Notes: Blackcurrant Nectar
- Heart Notes: Isparta Rose & Davana
- Base Notes: Benzoin Resin & Patchouli Essence
(With every purchase of Armani Si or Si Intense 100ml or larger at The Perfume Shop, customers will not only receive a free gift of Armani Si travel spray and a luxury beauty pouch, but also a code for a free Tulip bouquet worth £45 courtesy of Haute Florist.
