Five Fragrances You Need To Try This Summer
14 June, 2023
Let’s kick things off with Edeniste Love EDP – Edeniste is a new brand launched in 2022. They bring something a little different to the fragrance game by offering a collection of scents to improve your mood and boost wellbeing. Edeniste have scientists versed in both olfaction and neuroscience who have created a groundbreaking range of fragrances designed scientifically to improve emotional wellbeing. Edeniste scents are classed in two categories – the Active range, where each fragrance contains a patented Edenade accord, scientifically proven to reduce stress levels, and the Lifebost range, which have been tested physiologically and proven to improve emotional well being and activate positive emotions. Both ranges are designed to mix and match to suit your mood. The fragrance I have today is Love EDP from the Lifeboosts range. Love is a beautiful fruity floral scent opening with notes of red cherry, juicy red berries, and green leaves. The opening is bright yet delicate and sweet. Moving on to the heart of the fragrance, where you’ll find floral notes of intense tuberose, velvety rose and sweet jasmine, which leads to a base of warm sandalwood, creamy almond and sweet resin – Love EDP is such a pretty and romantic fragrance, it feels uplifting yet relaxing, and definitely puts me in a positive mindset!
- Top Notes: Cherry, Red Berries & Green notes
- Heart Notes: Bulgarian and Turkish Rose oils, Egyptian Jasmine absolute & Tuberose absolute
- Base Notes: Indian Sandalwood oil, Almond oil & Benzoin Resin
I also have the latest flanker from Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle collection – Lancome La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu EDP is a beautiful reinterpretation of the original scent, but this time the fragrance is enhanced with a signature iris note. La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu is a floral fragrance, opening with a burst of iris, the scent is sweet and slightly powdery, and also initially fruity. The floral heart includes jasmine and orange blossom, accented with fig and blackcurrant, and it has quite a waxy / lipstick feel which I really enjoy (Replica’s Lipstick On is forever a favourite!) It also has a gourmand element, and as the scent dries down you experience more of the original La Vie Est Belle signature fragrance, but this has noticeably more patchouli. This really is a beautiful iris scent – La Vie Est Belle Iris Absolu is refined, elegant, and sensual, perfect for evenings out this summer.
And the latest from Kayali – Kayalı Pistachio Gelato 33 EDP is a must have scent for fans of the brand. This is definitely one for the gourmand lovers out there. Pistachio Gelato is nutty and sweet, and almost edible, I love it! This fragrance is cosy, comforting and warming, and it really plays on the balance of fresh, airy and cool notes, against indulgently sweet, gourmand notes. I’ve been wearing Pistachio Gelato often and I’m really impressed with how long lasting this scent is. (I find spraying on my clothes rather than just skin really helps with longevity) Pistachio Gelato opens with creamy, nutty notes of hazelnut and pistachio, blended with sweet rum, leading to a floral heart combined with fruity notes of peach and pear. The base includes the tastiest gourmand notes of whipped cream, fluffy marshmallow, cotton candy, Turkish delight and cocoa, with cedarwood, creamy sandalwood and tonka, for a delectably, sweet and smooth dry down.
- Top Notes: Italian Bergamot, Pistachio Gelato, Hazelnut, Sweet Rum & Cardamom
- Heart Notes: Geranium, White Peony, Muguet, Jasmine, Raspberry, White Peach & Pear
- Base Notes: Whipped Cream, Marshmallow, Cotton Candy, Turkish Delight Accord, Cocoa, Cedarwood, Sandalwood & Tonka
Ormonde Jayne Sakura EDP is another fantastic new release. Sakura is a beautifully delicate cherry blossom scent, opening with zesty citrus notes of mandarin and lime, with a blast of pink pepper, green notes, and bright coriander, the heart features notes of gentle cherry blossom, powdery violet, airy waterlily and sweet rose. The base is woody and warm, with sandalwood, musk, amber, tonka bean and creamy vanilla.
Sakura is a beautifully delicate and elegant scent, there’s something about it that’s very refined and polished, and quite complex. It’s soft, slightly sweet, woody and fresh. The opening is bright and citrusy, with a prominent note of coriander, as the fragrance dries down though, this is where the magic happens, leaving you with a wonderfully warm and powdery, comforting aroma. Sakura really ticks all the boxes for me, I know I’ll be wearing this fragrance again and again over the summer months!
- Top Notes: Green Notes, Pink Pepper, Bergamot, Lime, Mandarin & Coriander Seed
- Heart Notes: Cherry Blossom, Waterlillies, Osmanthus, Rose, Freesia, Cyclamen & Violet
- Base Notes: Sandalwood, Madagascan Vanilla, Musk, Amber, Cedarwood & Tonka Bean
And lastly a brand you may not have heard of – Gas Bijoux’s Summer 69 fragrance is the perfect joyful, uplifting scent for summer. Opening with notes of bright neroli, sparkling bergamot and juicy lemon, the heart blends heady white flowers of tuberose and jasmine with creamy vanilla, leading to a dry down of sweet sandalwood and musk.
Summer 69 really is sunshine in a bottle! It’s lemony fresh in the opening, in a good way, with provocative white flowers soon appearing, creating a haze of enveloping warmth. This fragrance makes me think of sipping cocktails on a beach on a warm summers evening – gorgeous!
- Top Notes: Neroli, Bergamot & Lemon
- Heart Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine & Vanilla
- Base notes: Sandalwood & Musk
