Simba Hybrid Original Mattress Review
24 June, 2024
Following from my previous Simba review, I’ve now been fortunate enough to have the chance to try out the brand’s classic, original hybrid mattress.
With over 500k sold, this mattress has fast become Simbas best-seller. The Hybrid Original Mattress is based on Simba’s original mattress design, but includes more of their patented, sleep-friendly tech than any other mattress available in their more affordable ‘Comfort’ line.
Why choose Simba? There are SO many mattress brands to choose from these days, so what sets Simba apart from the rest? Well, first of all they have the most five star mattress reviews globally, this really shows how much customers love their products – so far they’ve helped over a million people get a good night’s sleep! They have also won over 60 industry awards, and their mattresses are created by expert sleep engineers, using the data of over 10 million body profiles. And just to add to this, all Simba mattresses are made in the UK, and they’re also happy to remove and recycle your old mattress, resulting in less mattresses ending in landfill.
Now you know more about the brand, let’s take a look at their best-selling mattress…
The Hybrid Original mattress is Simba’s first hybrid offering, providing a support via patented springs combined with cushioning from the brand’s innovative foam. This is a medium-firm mattress, featuring the highest spring count of the whole Comfort range (2500), which supports spinal alignment and offers pressure relief. The titanium alloy Aerocoil micro springs offer super strength in a tiny size; their conical shape means they’re designed to compress inwards, limiting transfer of movement, and each spring compresses in response to body weight, aiding pressure relief and improving support. They also encourage the flow of fresh air through the mattress as they compress, helping to keep you cool.
The Hybrid Original mattress also has an extra deep layer of Simbatex foam, for comfort. Simbatex foam technology features an open structure, which has been designed to support better airflow and encourage greater elasticity. It’s also infused with graphite, to help dissipate heat for a cooler and fresher night’s sleep. The mattress also has a foam base featuring nine support zones designed to mirror the body, especially the wider and heavier areas such as hips and shoulders. The result is a feeling of being ‘hugged’, by the upper layers of the mattress, with the base offering body aligned support where it’s needed most.
Let’s take a close-up look at the layers in the Hybrid Original Mattress –
- The top layer features a soft, breathable, knitted cover. This cover offers anti-allergy technology and zips off for easy washing.
-
The Simbatex foam layer is an extra deep, open structure foam layer that’s infused with graphite. It offers extra elasticity and cushioning.
-
The Supportive Aerocoil springs include 2,500 conical micro springs which have been designed to compress in response to your body, improving support and limiting motion transfer.
-
The thick, open structure CertiPUR stabilising core foam layer aids structural support and airflow.
-
The Zoned CertiPur foam base features nine different support zones designed to support parts of the body with specific needs, such as wider, heavier areas like hips and shoulders.
So are Simba mattresses worth the price? I have to say I’m really impressed with the Hybrid Original Mattress. I thought it could possibly be a bit too firm for me but actually I love the firmness – my back is very happy! You still feel like you sink into it nicely, but whilst being supported really well. It’s comfortable whilst being supportive, cooler than my original mattress and just offers a fantastic, comfortable night’s sleep, which is just what we’re all looking for. I also love that it has a zip off top layer that can easily be washed, or replaced if needed. Overall I’m very impressed!
I should also mention that Simba are so confident that you will love your mattress, they offer a 200 night trial and a 10 year guarantee, too – amazing!
