The TSNC Father’s Day Fragrance Gift Guide 2024
2 June, 2024
There’s only a couple of weeks to go till Father’s Day, and I always think fragrance makes such a lovely gift, so I’ve put together a few scents that I think Father figures across the country would love to receive – enjoy!
Boss The Scent Elixir Parfum Intense for Him
The original Boss The Scent launched almost ten years ago now, way back in 2015. Since then, the brand has released numerous flankers, with their latest creation, The Scent Elixir launching in time for Father’s Day here in the UK.
BOSS The Scent Elixir for Him is an amber-leather fragrance, with a potent 25% perfume concentration, giving the scent impressive depth and longevity. This is a highly concentrated interpretation of the original BOSS The Scent for Him. Opening with a hit of red hot pimento pepper, straight away the scent feels spicy and exhilarating. The heart features vibrant lavandin absolute, perfect for balancing the heat of the pimento, and smooth, woody sandalwood in the base.
- Top Notes: Pimento
- Heart Notes: Lavandin Absolute
- Base Notes: Sandalwood
The latest in Burberry’s Hero line is finally here, and this time Hero is stronger and more intense than ever! Burberry Hero Parfum, not to be confused with Burberry Hero Eau de Parfum, is an intense, woody, amber scent, created to portray a modern man, connecting with his inner self to embrace the extraordinary within. Described as ‘a marriage of strength and freshness challenging the traditional stereotypes of masculinity’, the scent is based on a trio of notes; cypriol oil at the top, for a fresh and green opening, amyris at the heart, giving the scent additional intense woodiness, and warming cedarwood to finish at the base.
Heart Notes: Amyris
Base Notes: Cedarwood Trio
Gucci Guilty Elixir Pour Homme
Gucci’s latest addition to their Guilty line, Gucci Guilty Elixir de Parfum Pour Homme, is an ambery leather scent, based around a signature note of patchouli that has been amplified in concentration. I would describe this as not your typical designer scent, but I really do like it. The fragrance opens with pimento and nutmeg, I expected the opening to feel ‘hot’ with the pepper, but it actually feels cool and spicy. As the fragrance develops you really pick up on the orange flower at the heart, and the scent becomes beautifully smooth and creamy. The base includes warming benzoin, vanillin, ambrofix and patchouli, giving a sweet, ambery dry down.
- Top Notes: Pimento Pepper, Nutmeg
- Heart Notes: Orris Butter, Orange flower, Osmanthus
- Base Notes: Benzoin, Vanillin, Ambrofix, Patchouli
Jean Paul Gaultier Le Beau Paradise Garden
I’m a big fan of Jean Paul Gaultier scents, so I had to include their latest men’s offering today – Le Beau Paradise Garden. This is a fantastic summer fragrance for men, it’s fruity, green and woody, and just really fun and uplifting. Le Beau Paradise Garden is a wonderfully aquatic, green, woody fragrance, tempting you into Gaultier’s garden of tropical flowers and exotic creatures. The opening features ginger and mint, and I pick up on both of these quite clearly, it’s an interesting combination that works really well. The coconut is also apparent from the get-go, giving the scent a tropical creaminess, and there’s also fig in the mix adding a fresh, greenness to the scent. Finally, the base includes sandalwood and tonka bean for a beautifully sweet, woody dry down.
- Top Notes: Ginger, Mint
- Heart Notes: Coconut, Fig
- Base Notes: Sandalwood, Tonka Bean
For those looking for something a little different, Eight & Bob offer a beautiful, classic men’s scent that’s steeped in history. Eight & Bob Original features a composition based on the rare andrea plant, from the mountains of Chile, and the scent, originally created over 60 years ago, still feels as modern and relevant as ever. With a luminous and lightly spicy opening including pink pepper, cardamom and lemon, Eight & Bob Original is instantly fresh and uplifting, and feels quite unisex. The heart features a blend of violet leaves, labdanum and dried wood, which gives a lightly woody, and slightly soapy feel. And finally in the dry down, the base features warming sandalwood, vetiver and rich amber, for an aromatic and elegant trail.
- Top Notes: Pink Pepper, Cardamom, Lemon
- Heart Notes: Violet Leaves, Labdanum, Dried Wood
- Base Notes: Sandalwood, Vetiver, Amber
And last but not least, I think Italian brand Coreterno’s latest scent launch, Oceanoir would make a really special gift this Father’s Day.
Coreterno Oceanoir is a beautifully fresh, invigorating and enticing scent, opening with notes of seaweed, bergamot, bitter orange and grapefruit. The scent instantly feels bright with citrus notes, as well as fresh, like a sea breeze. The heart includes notes of salt crystals, sea lily, davana, bouganvillea, saffron and cassis. The heart of the scent feels slightly salty and fresh, and has a lovely floral touch. In the base there’s sandalwood, pine balm, musk, amber woods and vetiver, giving a lovely sweet, woody finish. This is such a wonderful, summery scent that feels like an airy, fresh sea breeze, I love it!
- Top Notes: Seaweed, Grapefruit, Bergamot, Bitter Orange
- Heart Notes: Cassis, Saffron, Salt Crystals, Davana, Sea Lily, Bouganvillea
